Description : This is a collab with some wonderful musicians from this site.SpellJammer and I were going to start recording this song and he had the idea of adding sax.Of course Slap Johnson was the number one choice and he was very gracious and did an excellent job...as we knew he would.SpellJammer had the core elements in place and I added several guitar parts...but it's Slap that took this to a new level.
I hope you enjoy this Looperfriends! Please comment and let me know what you think and as always visit both of these guys on the site, they're very talented and have many great tracks. Thanks,Allen

Wow...I`m almost lost for words on listening to this one Allen...Its fantastic stuff man...You`re ready for the tour so head up this way & I`ll get advance tickets..(guess Slap would have some extra travel..Ha)...Some of the Loops biggest talent playing here & the super production values sure dont hurt the cause..Slap`s sax parts are just great, but then every other part fits to perfection too....commercial quality...and another fav (bu the time I get through your playlist my favs folder should be getting full)....a big well done to all involved...Ed

How did I miss this review...I gotta get my priority's straight.

Thank you so much and these guys deserve so much credit.
It's interesting how Spell and I do these tracks,he sends me the complete produced song with percussion,keys,bass..it's his melody.
I layer guitar tracks around Spell's but on this one I backed out the guitars and added Slap's sax first then worked around both of them.
It took me quite a while but working with this talent and the outcome was worth it.

I appreciate your listen and review my friend!

Wow. This is a piece of art. The guitar is really relaxed and the beat works great with it. I can't put what I think about the saxophone into words. I can't get enough of slap's sax work. The whole song is just well put together and so relaxing. Something I would hear really late in the night on a laid back radio station.

Can't put any more praise but just perfect!

The really cool thing about this track and Slaps part is that he played along with our track,we didn't use any loops from his awesome library..which would have been fine but this really brings him into the collaboration.

They both deserve all the credit..SpellJammer can always bring out the best in me,without him I would just play a bunch of old Van Halen licks :)

Thanks again, your review is very encouraging.

Oh my. This is it. Yeah.. Judging from the genre it would not really be my first pick to listen to, but d@mn I'm glad I did. The delays and effects are superbly balanced, the clean, crisp tones are just amazing. Makes me lean way back in my chair, close my eyes, and really, really enjoy this (way beyond) excellent masterpiece of a track. I'm just.. wow. It took my breath away. I have no words.

    AllenV
    Reply by AllenV

Thank you very much Steinaa.I agree that genres can get in the way of some good songs and I know I've missed some great tunes myself because of that fact.
This was such a group effort.I am always pleased to start with a well crafted melody from SpellJammer, complete with all keys and percussion and his quality out the gate is fantastic so a lot of work has been done right there.I do spend long days layering in guitars around him and more time mixing,to me that's the key and eats a lot of time but I haven't found a way around it...Fun yet work, with a payoff and Slap Johnsons sax really completed the feel we were shooting for.Nothing is scripted here so these songs from Spell and I take some time to complete...we can't push em out very fast and they remain very much inspired, they inspire me to do more and I hope they do for you.
No lie my friend...I have both versions of your song Remember Me on my mp3 playlist at home...it moves me every time!
    Thanks again,

Hey - one more thing - about mixing - you had said you had to mix the sax in real time - just want to say that mixing in real time is in my opinion one of the great things to do - I love movement - when the volumes, pans and even eq's and effects are changing as I am listening to a song - to me that really adds life to a recording!! Again, great job you did on this!

Hi Allen - really great - especially your guitar work is fabulous - you really have a great ear for the fills behind the sax - very tasty - nice tight mix too. Great job, slap on the sax - and anyone i may be forgeting - is that a live piano or loops? it's a great sounding piano. hats off!!

Hey haven! That would be SpellJammer on keys,he does a great job.I appreciate your mix comment,I didn't realize just how much work goes into mixing.I kid you not...I have at least 8 or more mixs of this...I couldn't make up my mind and the more I mixed, the more I wanted to mix lol.One challenge was that Slap played to the track minus guitars and as I added them the dynamics changed so I had to adjust his levels real time,I couldn't just set it and leave it...lol.Another learning experience but I'm glad it payed off and you enjoyed the song!

Description : This song highlights a few different styles of jazz. First it starts with a kinda early 20s and 30s groove. Than it melds into a New Orleans style. Than into a sort of Maynard Ferguson big band jazz/rock groove, and finishing off with the 20s and 30s style again, all held together with some cool horns and bass. All n all, it's...Pretty Cool! Hope you like

Description : Do not freak out just because this is jazz! There's also blues, rock, funk and a little hip hop in it to break up the deep, chillout jazz sections - gets particularly rocking then funky at the end. Main bassline (the track's foundation) is recycled leftover slide resonator guitar parts detuned one octave to make a slide bass sound. Also features: piano, violin, hammered dulcimer, organ, ethereal pad guitar, bass guitar, jazz/blues/rock electric guitar and multiple programmed acoustic drumkits. This was difficult to make at times as I thought I needed more leads parts eg from sax or trumpet. But I'm happyish with the end result. I expect very little interest in this as it's both jazz and long jazz. But it's also an unusual type of genre-mixing jazz. So, leave your thoughts, good or bad, if you like...

I "made a promise" that my next track will be use a lot of jazzy loops - well, i done with this track, for the great sadness of jazz lovers or experts i think - i fear they will never forgive me. :) While my ISP launches my internet out of the Earth system for a long time, i had to face the fact that i dont have too much downloaded jazz loops on my computer, so i think no wonder that this one is sounds like if i smoke some marihuana while making it. But hey, who cares, i like the result - it reminds me the (maybe only) really funny episode of "Breaking Bad", where Pinkman uses some heroin and flyes up with an idiotic smile on his face - that chapter is priceless. :D

Description : Music by Antonio Carlos Jobim. This particular piano arrangement is from one of jazz sheet piano books I found on scribd. The electric piano is MrRay22 plugin which I played on Casio CDP220 digital piano. This is also a new piece that I learned today so it was quite tricky to get a proper touch at places and overall make the entire thing sound anywhere realistic. I tried many times and this was probably the best take. Also I am relatively new to playing latin piano music. I didn't manipulate any notes after recording - instead I added few virtual vintage amps. I choose jazz but it is a bossa nova latin style. Enjoy and feel free to comment and download.

Description : "Oh no - not jazz metal! You're not supposed to mix those genres together." Yes, but someone's got to and the musical gods have chosen me for the difficult task. 9 mins of instrumental jazz metal - damn I sure know how to write a hit song - US No 1 here I come. Anyway - there's some dark, swinging groovy jazz, with Rhodes and guitar as the main instruments, for a few minutes and then some haunting, thumping evil breaks loose. Look out for the powerful synth horn sound. And then it just gets heavier and heavier before returning to some nice chillgroove funky mystery jazz. Instruments played and/or programmed: electric guitar, bass guitar, electric cello, multiple programmed acoustic drumkits, filtered strings, Rhodes, big synth bass, evil synth horn and a few other assorted synths. I assume this has too much jazz for metallers and too much metal for jazzers. So, only for weirdoes like me who enjoy both. This will surely be too odd for most people but I like to think it's pretty interesting and powerful. Let me know how its weirdness worked for you...
