Description : New track that im somewhat satisfied with, not finished yet though. I feel like I need som feedback on it.

Updated and slightly different version.

Updated again after I tried mixing and mastering it a bit, it feels like the instruments are more coherent now. Still far from perfect though.

Yet another update with a different ending.

Nice one, i like this track, i agree with the others though it could do with some improvement on the mastering side. If i can explain this right, you need to seperate the beat coz when its playing together with the melody it sounds all mushed together (if that makes sence). Maybe add some reverb on the hihats and try and take the kicks frequency away from the sub so they sound a little more seperate. also i would add some slight reverb on the snare that hasnt got any, not alot just a little. Love the synths. once you get these little minor improvements in this will be a big tune! also if you use fruity loops i always find that adding maximus and lowering the low frequencies a tad overall makes the track sound 10times clearer. keep up the good work m8! nice one.

Thanks for the good constructive critique! :) I tried adding Maximus and after a bit of work it actually sounds pretty good. Am gonna upload the track again now when i mixed and mastered it a bit.

The 8 bit sounds in the start seem to stand out a little. I'd lower the volume of the chiptune synth just so it flows along with the chime melody a little more smoothly.

The drum pattern and bass sound quite nice together, and the additional 8 bit sounds sound quite nice as well.

Theres a lot of room for improvement in this track though, and I'd say a lot of that lies in the mixing and mastering. The first snare hit sounds fine, the second reverb snare however seems to be a little to over powering. Lower the volume on the that a little, and that will be one step in the right direction. Try and get your volumes so that it doesn't make the meter doesn't go into the red area/doesn't hit the top of the meter.

Follow Shortbusmusic's advice, he seems to be able to explain it better than I can.

I know I went a little negative in my review but don't worry, its a good track, you just need to learn to mix and master a little better. I can't really suggest how to do it, bieng as I'm not amazing at it myself, but if it feels like everything flows smoothly and you can hear all the sounds you put into the song clearly, then you've probably done a good job.

Ste :)

Thanks for the review! Always good getting feedback from different directions and points of view. :)

About the negative aspect of it, It´s all cool. I know how to take it the right way, as long as critique is sincere it´s always helpful in some way you know. :)

Nice start on this one. It sounds like one of the tracks off a video game (and that isn't a bad deal).

Some of the stretches can get a little repetitive, so you might change up instrumentation or add different layers in those spots. Instrumentals are difficult because you have to hold the listeners attention without the benefit of a singer or rapper to hold them for 4 minutes (so they get easily bored if things don't change up frequently). You might consider using the synth break that you used as an outro more as a bridge....expand on it for a while and see if it doesn't give you a chance to really make this one special. All in all, it's a nice track with a lot of potential. You should be proud of it.

Bear

EDIT:

The problem with the master lies in the mix (sounds like some kind of Ninja thing, haha). To keep things from getting muddy, you have to set them in the right places in your mix. Try moving instruments that occupy the same frequencies to different places (pan one left, the other right). Others that try to hijack the mix use a stereo effect to widen them out. But the mix is the key to a great master. This one sounds OK, but if I were you I would experiment with moving things around a bit just to see if it clears things up. Careful though, sometimes it may only be one instrument (maybe the bass). Just have fun with it. Bear

Thanks a lot for the review, It really warms my heart getting this kind of good feedback. :)

I have a question for you though, What did you think about the mastering of the track? Does it sound okay? I had a shitload of trouble getting the track to not sound thick and incoherent.

Description : 'The main point of this song is really about the frustrations of living in the overload of today's World of Tech. The consequences are impaired communication and that if you advance too far you end up diminishing what you had to start with, so you are way worse off.' Description : A demo of one of my current projects. The chorus vocal sounds like "Aaaaraashe" to me. The song is in C# minor with a nod to C# pythagorean on the chorus. The beat on the verse was inspired by the Peter Gabriel song Intruder.

Description : This is one of my earliest productions that I did at the start of my recording career. I did not have a keyboard at the time I made this song, so I improvised and used my sister's iPad and a 5 dollar GarageBand application instead, and plugged the headset jack into into my PT6 rig and did my best to turn each individual track (which were mono and there were about 25 tracks or so) into a stereo image. Then recorded vocals over it. My computer was so old and slow that I had to mix my music and then BOUNCE it to a new session - four times. My computer (which had 512 MB RAM and an 80 GB hard drive) couldn't handle more than 8 tracks at a time or it'd stop working because the processor couldn't handle it. Took me FOREVER to do. But I got it done. Had a lot of fun doing it too, even if it isn't my "best" work. I'm still happy with it, considering I didn't have many tools to choose from at the time.

Description : Long time lurker first time poster, pretty new to production n stuff, this is my first track in Ableton Live.
was going for a darkwave/synthwave sound, reminiscent of Justice, Carpenter Brut, Perturbator, ect.
Looking for some feed back, constructive criticisms or even just your thoughts if you liked it or not. This is just a rough cut on this current WIP, just the bones of it if you will.. If you have some cool title suggestions, would love to hear those too.
Thanks for listening.
