Richie, you consistently produce some of the best music on Looperman. Your ability to take a raw vocal and turn it into a hit is nothing short of amazing.
Once again you set the bar so high. It is always a pleasure to stop by and hear your work. Another hit. And a tip of the hat to Farisha for the great vocals.
Always good to have you visit. Thank you so much for the kind comments - much appreciated. It's so good Farisha is back posting acapellas again - I have a couple of them waiting for my undivided attention! Glad you liked this track and thanks again.
Now this is what I call production.....you are a freaking genius. I just wish these were through. Both songs are so different, yet what shines through is the quality of the work.
I have no clue how you do it, other than you have busted your A$$ learning and doing all these years. It is always a master's class in sound when I stop by your place.
I anxiously await the final product on both of these.
I wonder how I missed the reply button for your comment....I apologize for that.
Thank you very much for your way to kind review! It means a lot!
As do how I do it..... I have no clue...things just seem to work. I do listen to a lot of music and that helps as everything feels natural. I did spend a lot of time learning, used to skip school to work on music and hang out in the studio and that went on for about 13 years...kinda spent part of my childhood in the studio...as I'm still young. Lol!
Outstanding track, great treatment with the guitars, very nice mix. Jah would have loved this one (and probably asked why you didn't have any bass in it, hahaha). A great tribute to a great guy. I wish I had my favorite button back again like we had in the old Looperman. Well done my friend.
Sorry for the very, very late reply.I had the pleasure to be reviewed by Jah on my previous alias and still remember of him sharing his vast technical knowledge on the forum.
The absence of bass was unintentional my friend but im happy how it came out in the end.One of my favourite tracks in all departments.
Thank you very, very much for your kind words.Download available now.
Richie, I've been listening to the blues for a long, long time and I have to tell you, this is just about as good as it gets. Patricia is amazing, but even more impressive...is that your instrumentation matches her brilliance.
This is fabulous.
Not many words to describe how good this is, so I'll just stand up and applaud.
Always good to hear from you. Thank you so much for the comments and I take it as a great compliment that you compare my instrumentation with Patricia's vocals so positively. I am humbled. Thank you.
I had a lot of trouble trying to get the tempo and the vocal organised on this track and after exchanging emails with Patricia (who suggested I might have some timing issues with it) I decided to chop up the phrases and assemble them around a twelve bar blues framework. I am pleased with the way it's turned out.
Glad you enjoyed it and thanks again for the kind words.
Brother, this is fantastic....not sure where to start....
Who knew you were this talented and could produce a track like this. Heck, I always thought you were probably one of the best rappers on the Loop, but now I've got to adjust my thinking and throw in producer/composer/arranger/musician.
That's a lot of hats and you obviously wear them all well.
This is top shelf work my friend. As good as it gets (that bass is awesome). I'm glad you decided to start back into the beat making business. The only thing that would make this one better is a bit of thephilosofist vocal work :)
Brilliant work, absolutely brilliant. I hope all is well.
Richie, I have to agree with L....this is spot on and definitely radio ready. This is as good as anything I've heard on the radio in a long, long time. A perfect blend of talent, MIM4E on vox and you on the instruments. Beautiful work and a tip of the hat for a wonderful effort.
Wow, I do wish I had a favorite button for sure :)
Always good to have you visit and thank you so much for your kind words. It is such a pleasure working with MIM4E and a real adventure developing a track from her incredible acapellas - she is such a talent. Appreciate you stopping by and taking the time to listen and comment - much appreciated.
I have to agree with Ed. It's hard to push our way through the din of "noise" on mainstream radio in these times we live in. Songs like this one are what should be playing on the airwaves.
Tommy Emmanuel would be proud of the guitar work on this one. And the vocals, well, just about as good as they can get. Spelljammer is so hugely talented in so many, many different ways.
One of the best collabs on the Loop. Thanks for sharing this one. It is truly special.
Bear, thank you so much,I never thought there would be vocals until SpellJammer,...even along the road I knew it was meant for him and his fiance as much as my own family...And I do love him as much.
Michael Stokes is a freaking genius. Then you toss in your guitar work (a master's class in how to play one). Then for good measure, you incorporate Ed's intro....holy cow, this is so good!!!!!!!!
Seriously one of the best tracks on the Loop. I have to agree with the Robin Trower reference from Dave - he would be proud of this one for sure.
UNBELIEVABLE!!!!
AWESOME!!!!
\m/ \m/
Bear
By the way, if you need a guitar, I've got several lying around that are used to being abused instead of played, haha. They wouldn't know how to act in the hands of a master.
Thank you so much for the comments Bear,These are some of my last tracks I'll be able to work on for a while.
Not to be a downer cause' this is not the forum but I have had to sell all my guitars,I lost my car and job and had to take care of my family but my father is helping me with transportation so life will get better.
Any new tracks you here will be from previously recorded guitar parts.
I appreciate your comments and this site,it has changed my life for the better and I'm sure God will provide.
Definitely two of my favorite Looper Super Stars here....love the trippy feel to this one. I just ordered a Zoom G9.2tt pedal. I can only hope to get close to the tone you have.
I wish you luck with the Zoom,I don't have to tell you that sometimes you have to spend the time to get it,I call it "turning a lot of knobs for a long time"..and then saving that patch.
A couple years ago when I joined the Loop and started recording at home I wasn't sure what to do cause I'm from the old school of cassette. My computer is old and couldn't handle many recording software programs and neither could I handle them so I bought a Tascam digital porta studio...I could deal with knobs and the Zoom, well I just came out of the stereo out into the recorder. There are a lot of headaches with my primitive methods Bear but it gets the job done and I do get to turn more knobs..lol.I do like mixing the master live with the recorder but I do use Audacity for small edits and final mp3 conversions.
And Yes,Twanna is fantastic! She's not only a great vocal talent, she produces every thing we do together as well as her own...she truly is genius.
What a great way to start my day. Nick is a genius (we all know that) but when you put your phenomenal guitar work in the mix, well it goes to a whole new level.
SMOKIN!!!!!!!!!!
You probably had to cool off the frets a bit after this one. Shredding at its finest, because I can hear every single note you played. And that is the way it should be :)
Bravo gents and a tip of the hat to Pedro for his piano loop....man that guy can play.
Thanks Bear!
If you read my reply to NUADA you'll see how much credit Nick deserves,I actually wasn't sure how to do this with out the whole track to play too and Nick was like "Do what you want...whatever will work" so I sent him this crazy track of me playing to the same loop for several minutes...it's kinda funny cause I had know idea what he was going to do with it until the finished song!
Very nice treatment on the vocals, mix is really clear...vox sitting just right. Well constructed and extremely entertaining. Outstanding effort. I'm a big jazz fan and this one hit the spot! Thanks for sharing.
Richie, what a wonderful treatment of Amelia June's vox. I love everything about this, from the guitar solo, to the mix, to the pacing (wow, just brilliant) to the beautiful chord progressions. I've heard just about every interpretation of her pella, but this one ranks right up there at the top.
Superb in every aspect, and in every way possible.
Bravo my friend. And a huge thanks for the download, straight to my all time favorites.
Good to hear from you. Thanks for the comments, particularly about the "pacing". I wanted it to be a bit "sleepy" but with plenty of interest to keep the listener engaged. I had lots of fun puting this together and thanks for the link on your track to the acapella on Mixter.
Well young lady, this is really nice work...better than nice - your vocals are absolutely flawless. Move over Beyonce/Rhianna/et al, and make room for a real artist!!!!!
I have to agree with Dave, but for different reasons. This would be a fantastic song if it was done with real guitars (I'm not a big fan of the synthesized guitars). I think if this one was done in a studio with real session players it would be a hit record. Something for your collab partner to think about.
Can you imagine how good this could be with Planet on bass, Bilbozo or Rei or AllenV or MackMan or Randy or any other number of great guitar players that are on this site doing the guitar work, and then maybe Buddrumming on drums??????? Ohhh that would be fine.
Anyway, sorry if it seems I'm nitpicking but this one really has major, major potential. It has all of the necessary elements to be a hit record. It would just be fantastic if you and your collab partner could wander into a studio and do it up right.
Great song though, and again, your vocal work is spectacular.
In this era of digital music, there is nothing like hearing an "unplugged" performance. This is really fantastic work. Less is sometimes more, and this song proves that.
Hey Bear! Just want to thank you for the kind comments this one took about 5 months to finish cause I wanted to get it right since I did not use much of a bass line. Smoothing things out for the next one. Hope to have done in a couple of weeks. Take care! Your Bud Fila
Looks like time has only made you better. You know how to lay down a bassline my friend and this track proves that. Wonderful vibe and a great way to start my day. Hope all is well.
Man it is a pleasure to hear from you. Everything is great. Glad you enjoyed the two tunes. Yea I am still looping. Always wondered where you were but I always had that classic of yours DAWN which turned out to be the most popular and played on my CD that I finally produced and distributed. Don't forget to pop it in when the Humming Birds come back so they can enjoy it also LOL. Take care my friend and I will be checking you out on a regular basis nice to see some of my original looperman buddies back on the loop.
BAD AZZ!!!!!! Hahaha, man this is stellar work. It might be a little repetitive, but I think that's part of the charm. The bass synth is just about as nasty as anything I've heard in a long, long time.
Man this is outstanding work.....not sure why 40 people downloaded the track but only 3 thought they should comment. Like Jody said, the bass is a little too far up in the mix, but other than that, this one is smokin'!!!!!
I'm not sure why this one hasn't received any comments, it's really a great track. It has an epic feel to it. Loved your vocal work (I always do).
My only critique would be the mix is a bit too "dry" for me, but that's just a matter of personal taste - or I need some new speakers for Christmas, haha.
Hey Bear! Sorry for the late reply to your comment. I truly appreciate it. I know the mix is really dry... a little experiment since I always am heavy on the reverb...lol. A swedish musician made a remix of it http://soundcloud.com/busstop18/ghost-04 with more reverb since he also thought this to be lacking... so no need to buy new speakers :D
Thank you :)
Lena
This is simply brilliant. I love the innocence of the vocals and your respectful treatment of them. This is wonderful from start to finish. It brought back memories of when my daughters were that age.
You have a really nice voice, great tonal quality, and your range is pretty spectacular. This was a really enjoyable listen. I look forward to more from you in the future. Thanks for posting this and sharing it with all of us.
