So VSS, I am on a bit of a trip seeking enlightenment on this genre known as "house" (per Wonki's suggestion). I think the thing I find most appealing about it is the percussive nature of things (now that's an epiphany, hahaha).

I especially liked the percussion in your song....it's so good, you could almost eliminate the other stuff and just have a drum track....but then it would be drum and bass (minus the bass) if you did that....

so as you can see, I still haven't figured any of this out yet. But I do know I thoroughly enjoyed this piece. The mix seems to be spot on as well. I am off now to continue my quest. I hope all is well.

Hey Bear my friend. All is well in the world of Vis thanx, as I hope it is in the world of Bear ? Thanx for the lovely review. House, for me, is a great genre to work in. You can be as diverse, minimilist or over-the-top as your aural imagination wants. The 4 to the floor is the driving feeling behind house but the beauty is you can weave so much around that basic rhythm. Sometimes with house I will have loads of various drum loops, percussion, single shots and and drum based effects running through the track to try and create a rhythm that drives the track. It's great fun to create that vibe and always pleases me greatly. I'm hoping you will weave your magic on a Bear inspired house track soon ? Anyhows thanx again for taking time to stop by and listen & review mate.

on Andrew Cole Dead Roses by Mahloo13
So, I listened to this one on my computer speakers a few times, then on the monitors, then decided to put on the high priced headphones and I have to tell you Malu, the space in this mix is unbelievable. It is so nice to sit and hear ALL of the instruments, each one crystal clear and each one occupying its own space.

I especially like the little bit of echo I hear on the female vocals (at least I think it's an echo/delay of some kind)....it gives this a 3D effect for sure. I have a suspicion that this one if listened to on a 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound system would be really spectacular.

My friend, there is a reason why you are considered the top audio guy on this site, and this song illustrates exactly why. Kudos to the performers, but a huge tip of the hat to you for a job extremely well done. I'm not sure what plugins you are testing, but I can say that in the hands of an expert like you, the results are nothing short of spectacular.

Thank you Barry for all the compliments!

I did add echo to both vocals, which normally get's automated but since I've only spent a couple of hours to get this going some things slipped.

That type of delay is very wide...wider than a simple stereo delay and it's achieved by using 2 mono delays feeding each other.

The mix is stereo so I'm not so sure about the 5.1 option.

The plugin is a console emulation and I like it very much especially on such material...now if only I'd live in Nashville.

Thank you once again for the words and the support.

A song is only as good as its foundation, and this song has a great foundation!!! Bass line is absolutely stellar. Great vox and instrumentation, subtle and sublime, all following that wonderful bass line.

Well done.

I'm not sure why all the downloads, but nobody leaves any comments....where's the love people? I would love to hear your vocals a bit more forward in the mix. As I've said before, you have mad skills, don't be shy about showing off :)

Nicely done.

I'm pretty sure this is you on the drums....man, you are so good, haha. One thing the Loop is lacking is talented drummers. The other thing I like about this tune is the brass. I'm an old trombone player from way back and I would have loved to play along on this one. Hat's off on a great track. And a huge thanks for the download. Straight to my "Driving to Las Vegas" playlist on the IPod. Well done.

Man, I have to agree with Ed, "holy s**t Richie" this is awesome!!!! I think what this tune illustrates is your incredible knowledge and talent. I'm pretty sure Stephanie never figured her vocals would fit into a blues progression, but man did they ever fit. WOW!!! The instrumentation is soooo good! This song is as good as anything on the radio today.

I'll shut up now and hit the play button again. Oh, thanks so much for the download. And a tip of the hat to Stephanie for her great vocal work.

Hey Bear

Always good to hear from you. Thank you for the kind words - they are really appreciated. Not heard from Stephanie as yet but I guess she's in for a surprise!! Don't think a blues progression was ever on her horizon!!

It's so very rewarding to have your support here - thank you.

My friend, I listened to the original track on Steph's profile and I have to say your version is in another league altogether. This is probably what she had in mind when she did the vox to the other track. This one is top shelf material and definitely ready for prime time.

Outstanding work by both you and Stephanie.

Well done!!

Now this is nice, it's definitely a modern take on the Delta blues. If you have ever spent much time in the deep south of the US, you could hear something similar to this one....

It put a huge smile on my face. I like the way you gave Patricia's vocals room to "breathe." Very, very nice.

Since I'm a huge blues fan, I'll take advantage of your generosity and download this one for later. Thanks for that and again, really well done.

Thanx for such a positive reveiw Bear my friend. I enjoyed working on this track and am very happy with the outcome. Patricia's vocals are a delight to work with and it's amazing that she shares her huge talent with us Loopers. Without her 'pella this track would not have come into existence. I'm glad you have downloaded, thats a huge compliment for me mate. Thanx again for stopping by, listening & reveiwing.

FR, really nice remix. I saw you were happy it didn't turn out like Rick Astley, haha, hell, I loved that guy :) I used to wish I could sing like him, instead of sounding like a car exhaust. But I digress, it really is a nice remix of a great track.

Props my friend.

on Silent Moon featuring Romy Harmony by FreeRadical
So I have this one cranked up and my wife walks into my studio and says, "Who's that?" I answer "Free Radical." She leaves the room. She comes back in about a minute later and says, "I like it." I say, "I do too." She leaves again for another minute then comes back and says, "Who's the singer?" I say, "I have no clue." She says, "I thought you said it was Free Radical." I say, "It is but he isn't singing." She says, "What's he doing." I say, "Well he composed the music, played the different parts and then added the vox." She says, "Oh, well he's very good." I say, "Yes, he is." She says, "Tell him to tell the singer she is very good too."

Man, I love my wife, hahaha. Great job brother.

Thank you to both you and your wife.

on Unbreakable - SpellJammer and BonesRecordz by AllenV
Allen, as I sit here with my mouth open, drooling all over the place, I again am reminded of just how great a musician you are. Your guitar work is just about as special as it gets.

I'm speechless. There is a lot of genius on this track, from Spell Jammer and his amazing production, to Bones and his flair for percussion and finally to you, the master of the fret board.

I'm standing and applauding this effort. Beautiful work. Thanks for the download and I hope you are well.

Ah Bear,I'm always humbled by your comments,I'm only A product of 40yrs of playing...nothing special here, just try to live this long, and longer..Les Paul was how old?

I'll tell you that Spell had it first, then bones added his percussion...both were uploaded on their pages first.

Spell was hoping that a vocalist would jump in but it wasn't happening so I thought it would be a fun Sunday afternoon to play around with the track.
The guitar track reminded me of how the quick, off the cuff leads can sometimes be the best,I didn't know if Spell wanted to upload it,he already had two versions.

You know that I'm A humble man and not the least bit boastful but...I'll tell you the story.
Spell was worried about the tracks being uploaded without consent so we discussed whether to allow downloads.I told him that "if they want it,they will get it anyway".
I was in a mood that day and used Audacity to record his "no upload" track, and within one hour I had the guitar track recorded...just as you hear it,mixed into his track.

I love SpellJammer and we are and will always be partners and brothers...so maybe my experiment was to prove a point, but I think A good track came from the effort..and I do appreciate Bones addition. It's great how different styles of music can collide into something that feels collaborated...and it is!

Thank you Bear,I appreciate your comments and the music you share.

Hey Jamie,

It's nice to hear you have been busy :) This one is really nice....has such a nice jazz flavor. Everything is flawless in this one. Well thought out and even better executed. The piano is nice, but it is your stellar guitar work that puts this one over the top.

Beautiful job. I wish I had my favorite button back. I hope all is well.

Hey Richie, not sure how I missed this one. This is another great collaboration between you and a great singer. Derek has a fantastic voice and your treatment of his vocals is outstanding. Your musicianship is just jaw dropping, especially your guitar work.

Hey Bear

Always good to hear from you and thanks for the great comments. Yes, Derek is exceptional and it is a pleasure working with such good vocals. As you can see from his comments below he found it quite a revelation listening to "real" guitar on one of his tracks. Ah these young kids eh?

Thanks for the thumbs up (all ten of them).

on Lacrima -HipHop Beat- by Qavor
My friend, I have to say, if this is your first track, then you have set the bar really, really high for yourself. I love the bass line in this one, and all of the other elements you added to it. This mix is nice and crisp as well. It has an epic feel to it, kind of like Celtic/rock/hip hop and that's pretty cool.

While this may be your first beat, it is obvious that you have done your homework and know exactly what makes a great beat. This is outstanding and I would really like to hear someone put some vocals over the top of this.

Great job. I look forward to your next track. Thanks for the kind words as well.

It seems Looperman.com has been graced with another wonderful female singer/songwriter/composer. This is really really nice. Your voice has a wonderful quality to it. Your phrasing and control is outstanding as well. Nice bass line and percussion too. It seems you are multi-talented!

I can hear perhaps some strings on this one, maybe some brass, a little piano, and definitely a break of some kind, haha. Let me know what else you might have in mind for this one. Just send an email to bear9253@rconnects.com if you would like.

Beautiful work ShiL, absolutely beautiful.

Now this is nice.

I'm no expert on house....as a matter of fact, the only house I know anything about is the one I live in.

What I do know is this is a song with all of the right elements, and they are all in the right places. This is well thought out, and the execution is flawless.

Props to Patricia, to you, and to Mahloo (for his stellar mix and master). This song is great example of a tune that is radio ready.

And something I would actually buy.

Outstanding effort by all. WongKi, you are slowly bringing me over to the dark side with your talents. Well done.

Hey Bear, I’m happy you look it. When I first heard your “funky guitar” loop, I couldn’t get it out of my head. It got stocked like a melody, so I had to create this track in order to move on… LOL. Your loops tend to have that effect on me. Thanks for the listen my friend. I’m glad I made you proud.

Just when I think you two cannot top your latest hit, you come along with another great song. If you aren't careful, Nashville just might come calling and request your presence in their fair city.

You know what? I've got all the bags on the bus, I'll grab Richie, swing by and pick you up Patricia, and it's off to Nashville we go.

You can sing absolutely any genre. I am not a big country fan, but if all country sounded like this, I sure would be. Bravo to both of you for a job really, really well done.

Thanks man. I used to listen to flyod a lot myself many moons ago so perhaps there was some inspiration from them lurking in the back of my mind.
Looking back on it maybe i shouldn't have paid them so much attention because we do actually need some sort of education contrary to what Mr Waters would like us to believe.
Anyway, Thanks for stopping by and leaving your thoughts.
