on Talk To Me aka Duet Triste by Orlando51
Funny thing...but music that many would find sad I just find to be beautiful and touching...like this one...the strings can really add that sense of sadness (cello in particular)...but the pads are a rich contrast..it a very minimal mix again Orlando (and I like that idea) so there are many options if you decide to add to it...some have already been mentioned...but I am of course biased...so perhaps a few sparcely played classical/nylon string guitar lines would fit without detracting from the other sounds...In any case I like it as it is now...It is really well done...with thoughtfulness and talent...Ed

Thx alot again Ed! Your comments are real uplift to me, more so because I realised you're such a wonderfully talented musician. Yes, Ed, you're right...I prefer simpler arrangements. They give me alot more space to breath, particulary in the sense of potential reconsidering and maybe adding something later on. I really appreciate your advice about additional guitars...but wait...you're so skilled guitar player! Would you do that for me when you have a bit of time? I would be really honoured...and ofcourse, on the other hand I wouldn't like to steal your valuable time...but yes, this is an invitation!:)So please let me know what you think!

With admiration___Orlando

on Elahe by FaridHumanoid
Hi Farid....It is a pleasure to hear a different instrument performed with feeling and skill...I think emotions of the heart and talent always produce the finest music...The setar is new to western ears but I know it has been around a very long time...it`s sound is a bit like an instrument we call a dulcimer (used often in traditional north american acoustic music...country, bluegrass, etc)...It surprises me that this was recorded with a webcam microphone as it sounds nice and clear....Well done my friend...I am sure your lady will be happy with you...Ed

Oh my....our lady up and done the blues...Janis Joplin was one of a kind...and so is our janis71....Perhaps you know that blues is my home genre and comfort zone...so you know I love this one...wonderful expression/emotion in those vocals...very nice piano, bass & beats....Its all good Carole....well, I knew it would be before I hit play...but this is waaaay beyond good....outstanding young lady....definite fav of this ol blues guy......Ed

My dear Ed,
The music's not mine, it's an instrumental I found on the tube and yeah, it sounds really good .
Your words really make me shy, Ed, especially as you felt the "intention" I put in it, trying to sing it with my guts and everything Joplin has ever whispered to my soul .
I surely don't deserve your rhapsodic words but be sure they go straight to this little heart of mine .
Merci beaucoup, my dear friend ...
A big hug and kisses,
Take care

now this is creative thinking Larry,,,,starts out with a kind of medevil vibe & then swings into some chilled electro when the bass & synth kick in...nice uptempo move around 3:24...Has a nice uplifting vibe overall Larry....left me with a smile...thanks ...we could all use more of that...a big well done to you....Ed

well...here we go again...some of you guys keep proving that the genre still has creative places to go...the electronic genres aren`t on my regular listening list but I make a point of hitting play on them fairly often and have been coming up with some real pleasant surprises lately (like this one)...really like the intro in particular...this one is well done Saint7x.....Keep on...Ed

I hit the play button on genres that not on my listening priority list fairly often and once in a while I hit one like this that reminds me that there is good listening in a lot of genres I dont do...My playing & listening habits result in my ear looking for key progressions, key changes, & musical structure in the composition...but gotta say I enjoyed this one all the way...well done Gzglitchers...Ed

Maff...I love your musically creative mind my friend....Its not the kind of thing our commercial radio stuff is going to bring us...proof that real creativity resides in these little musical communities we share...Kara has a really nice voice...I have done a couple of collaborations with her (not posted here)..but the effects give this a whole different vibe...kind of mysterious...a big well done to you...this is really neat.....I see you have another new one up since last time I was by..have a bit of catching up to do....Ed

Hey Mac Man...I owe you an apology...(my comment on your young age is likely off side)...I was reading profiles on the Loop last night...and while I was reading sevenola`s I hit play on your track....and went WOW....this doesn`t sound like a 19 year old musician...it was just too good....so, anyway..sorry about that...and it is a really good track by the way.....Ed

Now this is different...and in a very good way...dubstep isn`t on my regular listening menu Sevenola but if it was more like this it sure would be...very creative stuff..musit say I enjoyed this one...a big well done to you....Ed

Sevenola replied 17th Jan 2014 - 11 years ago
Thank you very much Ed your comment means a lot ! I try to go out of the norm of Dubstep because most of the time it's initial sound and its characteristics are quite overplayed by many artists; like copying and pasting a signature sound.
Thank you for your feedback :D

on SOFTLY by mackit
Hi mackit....at your age I could have never come close to doing anything like this...I was reading your bio so was a bit surprised (pleasantly) to find a chillout track on top of your list...I notice some comments on production..actually it sounds really good to me so I`m not sure why...perhaps a little widening on the accompaniment instruments??...but we know that reality is often best represented by just some placement of the instruments in the sound stage rather that too much artificial processing...The music is really well done..the composition shows that a lot of thought has been put into it..I often insert a ms (mid-side) processor vst on some tracks just to keep the away from centre (and the lead) a bit but thats a matter of taste ...as is reverb and the other things we use...I enjoyed this one just the way it is...and listening to this kind of music composition from a young guy makes me think you are going to really raise above the crowd in the future..You`re part way there now...Your passion and investment in learning shows....keep on doing it...I`m sitting here with a smile after listening...way to go....Ed

on close but yet so far by ronabo
Oh yeah....Danke is good musical company for sure...I can hear a nice R&B vocal on this one ronabo...but gotta say its just good listening even as it is...I think I might consider taking the arps out of the intro..and bringing them in for the chorus parts as you did...kind of gives the show away right off the start rather than letting it build a bit...just an idea...and certainly not a criticism..enjoyed it...dm good job....keep on...Ed

Thanks Ed. I appreciate the comments. I like the build up idea. I may play with that intro and see what how it sounds.

some really rich sounds Orlando...and they are everything that is needed in this mix...I have a tendency to clutter my mixes a bit at times and this superb minimal approach is proof that a few of the proper sound choices lets each one really contribute its part that much better....good listening...a big well done to you...Ed

on Starting todaY- Brandon Michelle ft Behnam Zandi by deciBel
This is what music really is about....the words, written with thoughtfulness...the song delivered with simple and honest emotion...the music composed with care and designed to lift up the song and render it to our minds and hearts...and it seems to me that the simplest of accompaniment is often the best....Perhaps sometimes we add too many of the things to our music that technology allows...but often the heart of the song is best shown in a more basic way....like this....Great job Brandon and Behnam...much enjoyed....Ed

Ed,i really appreciate your attention & presence & shared idea .& yes really as U have pointed truelY , BrandY has sung this with her mind & heart & this has animated that duet guitar of mine . youngest grandmother of the world has a wonderfull innovation & I really like that way she sung this .
master I thaughT a cello maybe can sound good with iT ...
and when I was thinking to any lead for this , I thaughT Ed will recognize & say me if lead too is needed ..it's so good if U think this doesn't need anything . I was really lazy to do anything more, indeed ( as Corina says indeed _hahaa ).
also I should add another appreciation too here cause I know BrandY too knows U & we both are gratefull .take care ,best wishes.___Behnam

well..I see this one has been around a while and I have been my usual slack self in catching up with it....I seem to get along best with minor keys myself...This one carries a lot of emotion Bob...love the instrumentation choices and the straight up melody bits that remind me a lot of good things gone by...really lush choice of backing pads that carry the theme along well...excelllent Sunday afternoon listening up my way...great track...I could use a lot more like this one.......Ed

on Red Giant To Paramecium by Evisma
Hi evisma...I like the way the higher and low guitar bits harmonize...nice touch...If the music is being used by your friend as background to whatever else is happening, repitition actually works better most of the time that something that jumps through a lot of changes (depending of course on the content it is supporting)...I`m o.k. with the piano...sounds good to me...I might think about repalcing that bell cymbal in the earlier part with something a bit less prominent, but it works good in the 2nd half.....I dont really think you need to sweat over this one much (if any)..its got a catchy progression and enough variation in the instrumentation to keep it flying nicely...enjoyed the listen too...well done...Ed
