You are flyng above the crowd honkeytonk....nice to hear a totally different approach to a genre I haven`t spent a lot of time listening to..creative thinking in the instrumentation here...a bit of super cross-genre stuff.....love the sense of humour in the lyrics,...you voice fits this to a T....great job....thanks for including some of my guitar noises....Keep on...Ed
Thx 4 that detailed comment. Have to say, thats its not my voice as it is Ade1980 - but i like how i did the vocalmix and managed not to destroy all dynamic ;) Again thx 4 yo kind words m8!
Hi honkytonk....rap is not on my usual listening list so I have to confess to not being a fan of the genre...but that doesn`t prevent me from appreciating the music & compositional ideas...some nice instrumentation in this one (and thats often not the case in a lot of rap)...nice job on this one....Ed
Thx m8, i m tryin to mix it all up - sometimes works - sometimes not. Always a good feeling if someone likes what u did. Some artefacts frombreathes left, but didnt want to do detailwork on the vocalfile, so tried to get it out by automation - worked, but at some places it got a real disturbing noise...
Made my next vocaltest today, maybe you like it (upped tomorrow here), bluesrockrap, hehe, or so: https://soundcloud.com/farm-3/farm-feat-ade-drunk
Cant understand how this one has been posted for so long and no comments....You could make a hip hop fan out of me Alan,,,,This is just really well done...Its way above the pack musically in my opinion...I`m noticing the things you have done here ...like the structure of the composition...the neat chord progressions that hold it down...the choice of some very rich sounding instrumentation to sail above the steady beat & big low bass.....Great job....keep on doing it & tag your uploads as "Featured"...you deserve a bigger audience...Ed
I`ve never been brave (or talented) enough to take a classic like this one on...yet alone take it in a whole new direction.....You voice is the undisputed star on this one soulkettle (like that name)...not to diminish the fine accompaniment & production....but you can sing on my radio any day....great job & much enjoyed...Ed
Wow, I am truly humbled by your very kind comments..! thanks for taking the time and hopefully I will be doing a lot more collabs this year... I am having so much fun :)
Good listening straight up Rock...the staple of the Stones et al....I`m just listening on my pc speaker system Lestermax so I cant offer a lot of (accurate) observations about the mix....I do think it would benefit from some widening in the harmony vocals & maybe a bit more panning (left) on the rhythm guitar & a tad of placement change on the drum kit parts etc (other than the snare & kick) especially on the transitions etc.....you could use track copies to make some little variations or insert a mid-side processor on a couple of the tracks....but as I said..i`m listening on my non music pc... In any case, I hope you know my comments are not intended as criticism..I really like the song...its well done and delivered with a lot of talent....and that trumps any picky little things about the mix......enjoyed the listen ..its always good to hear some tasty rock..we are a bit short of it here most of the time....Keep on...Ed
Thank you very much, Ed, for this detailed and professional review. And thanks for listening! This track definitely need a little remixing , I´m working on that :)
Oh man....love that guitar and the chord prog you lead this one into..and then that tasty kind of subtle melody lead that says...just relax & keep listening...this is one of those tunes that sticks in your head long after listening....absolutely super job Steve...my kind of music...thanks for the big smile on my face and the download...definite fav......Ed
Hi Candelaria...your contact is turned off..so I cant send you my email....sorry, but I dont post my email...If you like you can use my contact here on Looperman to send me your email and I will reply....you are a very good singer..and I think you should follow up with Scott...He and Franco do the best flamenco music here.....Ed
ooops sorry Tumbleweed .
I will send you a private notification after this reply .
yes I know jazzyFranki and his collaborator in this site .
both are great jazz musicians .
but it's strange coz i have never heared a flamenco track from Franki in that other station too !
i would like to work with him , also with you too .
thank you very much for comment.
Hey aelmen...this is one extra cool groove of a track...got a lot of what I like in it...enjoyed the ride all the way....great job...keep on...I could use lots more like this one...Ed
Absolutely one of my all time favs too Scott...still have it on my MP3 player I use for daily walks etc...right along with "Looking For The Summer".....super job...best thing I`ve heard all day....thank you...what a great way to eant the year......Ed
really well done Danfu...kudos for the job on mixing the vocals in particular..nicely out front and clear...the composition & instrumentation wouldnet be out of place on the commercial charts...all round good stuff on this one for sure.....Ed
This one surprised me DJWaks....I didn`t expect to hear this kind of big instrumentation on a HipHop track...good for you...creative stuff here...and thats always a good tghing that sets an artist aside from the crowd....I liked this one....keep,on...Ed
I am leaving a comment of this one as I just love to hear them old blues David...its really well done and you do it from a different perspective than the usual (that creative thinking)...Your music deserves to have a lot more listens & comments...well done...Ed
Piano, played this well gets my attention every time johnnyp....very fine playing indeed and thoughtfully composed....I`m not listening on my studio monitors this morning but I thought I caught a little distortion at times from the heavy limiting on the mix...Please doint take that as a criticism as I think it is an excellent track & deserves the best production we can come up with....well done....Ed
Thanks a lot ed ;) I didn't hear any distortion though so I think it's your pc but else I would gladly fix it, I don't see it as criticism and appreciate that you can come with some constructive feedback ;) Thanks again for commenting
Upbeat...the kind of music that leaves a smile on your face...it strikes me as a great mix of R&B...maybe a sprinkle on Motown (in the bassline)...and a lot of the best of Chillout...Keyboard players get such a great variety of cool sounds into the music...so talented players like yourself really have a lot of ammo to use with all the new stuff....O.K...I`m hitting the outro...and still smiling...its the kind of music that makes me want to go fire up the music pc and make a noise...but I`d rather listen to this right now....Great job sr.......Ed
In spite of the fact that I like reggie I have never done a track using the beat (I best think about that)...That synth backing (most notable at the intro & outro) give this one a different. kind of electronic vibe...works well...nice uplifting little tune...and a good way to start the day...liked it Steve...Ed
Yes...it is indeed a bit dark and foreboding Soleilxlune...(but not all music must be bright)..and it does fit the picture of the planet rising in the darkness of space...well done....Ed
Thanks!
Well, as I said on description, this track was improvised. I was watching the trailer of the movie "Jupiter Ascending" and... boom! this song appeared xD
Here's the trailer if you want to check it (Utub) [ /watch?v=ZoCyL_Pqzu8 ]
Well, I wanted to try my new Vst of choirs, too.
The Phrase Builder is very interesting :D
Thanks for listening and comment! :)
well...you`re hearing it from a player who doesn`t know much about hip hop (even though I sometimes layer the beats with all kinds of genres)..and even less about rap....but sounds to me like the genre has evolved quite a long ways...I`m a musician even though I`ve worked on the production side for longet tnan I`ll admit (tape days)..so I cant help hearing what goes into the backing music..the instruments chosen...the way the mix is structured..and the playing...and this one def sounds like it out in front of the pack guys...Some good ideas from artists who know a lot more about than me..but I would be inclined to bring the vocals up a couple of dBs..they are good.....well done...Ed
thanks very much for those comments ed. those type of comments really make me want to push even harder. i have only been making music for a few weeks and comments like those ensure that i will be doing it for a long time to come. much love bro
Well....you up an went funky on us in the very best of ways Scott...Haha...this is great stuff man...just the kind of uplifting listening that gets a smile going & the parts moving...70s were absolutely great funk years...although I would have to confess I hadn`t heard it until James E Brown (The Godfather) hit the airways...& how could you not love what was going on....I a big B3 organ fan since Green Onion days (yeah I`m that old)..haha...super job on this one Scott....Best of the season to you...Ed
Hey, Ed, always a pleasure to hear from you and reading your kind words. Yeah, I think the majority of my music collection is made up of the 70's. Don't feel bad...Green Onion and other Booker T and the MGs songs are sitting proudly in my collection, and who, of our age, doesn't like The Godfather!
Hi Polyfronetic....by the time I was through the intro it began to strike me a Trance witha bit of Rock N Roll attitude...very effective drop around 1:53...I`m not well informed on the genre so I tend to judge music thats not on my regular listening list by weather or not I enjoyed it....and I enjoyed the listen to this one...Its a big mix but really well done and thoughtfully put together...I have always thought that Trance (and a lot of the dance/club music genres) were uplifting kind of music and we could always use more of that....good way to start the day....well done...Ed
Bravo Shemzee....a modern take on some of those traditional Christmas song is something we could use more of...but I have heard very few of the poppy versions that I care for...We have a native (North American Indian) church in our town here that lets the young people bring their instruments and music ideas to church...they rock it up pretty hard and it appeals to a lot of the young people (better than so many of the old traditional hymns that many find boring ...including me)....Good one Shemzee...A Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones......Ed
Its always a temptation to add more sounds with all the toys we have available to us Maffin...but there is much to be said for just having a few really good ones and letting them carry the day...You really did a nice job here of letting the vocal be the star but that synth is just notably good at wrapping those melody lines around the vocal...I liked this one just as it is...but I understand the drive to add some little tweaks here and there (I add too much clutter to a lot of my mixes...but dam...aint it fun)...good job on this one and it sounds nice & clean and clear...Ed
Sooo difficult, and so much fun to keep adding layers - but sometimes it's like cooking, a few simple ingredients are best.
Same with mastering - I think we all get caught up in chaining exciters and finalizers, and timing the multi compressors to a few milliseconds - that's *bound* to make my track sound better!
I'm old enough to know the handclap from Sweet Dreams was Dave Stewart smacking an empty picture frame against a wall in a basement, and they did ok with that one :)
Cheers...I might just fix the timing and levels and add just one more tiny thing...and maybe just...oh bugger I've ruined it...etc.
That little drop around 1:30 is really effective MadZo...good job on this one...enjoyed the listen & agree with Domenico`s comments on the audience sounds....Ed
Thanks a mill for the great comments! yes I have yet to finish it as it was only a demo but I have replaced it with a little bit cleaner version but still not finished tho!
This one has a bit of a late night...loungy feel....much credit to you for doing one without the customary beat driven approach...It lets all the subtle parts speak for themselves...nice chilled vibe...enjoyed the listen...feel like I`m in some chilled club so I`ll just sit here at the back table for a while...pop the top on a cool one and relax....well done....Ed
Well...for a quick idea this is one fine bit of work Maff....really like the intro..vocal goes great with the rhythm of the track and of course Bear`s backing is (as always) great stuff.in fact I would avoid any temptation to add anything more than you have....a tip of the hat to you...really enjoyed it...Ed
The banging drum & synth mix really is a neat contrast with the easy flowing vocal...like the subtle melody in the breaks...outro part in particular...nice clean production...well done guys......Ed
