vreative stuff going on here livingsoulsdie...and though its not my usual listening genre its great to hear some creativity brought to the familiar....a big well done to you...Ed
Anders....this is one hell of a fine dance mix...love the big kick beat & bass..and everything else that just kicks it into gear perfectly...If I did dance music I would want to do one like this..If you cant move to this you are not moveable....fantastic job & really nice production....Ed
nice clean production DeLaBeatz...a bit sudden ending?...Do you plan on adding a vocal?...the little hight synth part variations help but on its own with the same 4 key progression backing it all the way through it gets a bit repetative so a vocal would no doubt kick it up a notch...good job otherwise..keep on doing it....Ed
well Richie....any vocalist who wants pro accompaniament that kicks the song up to the stars should be knocking on your door...and you do it consistently...having tried it a few times I know it takes a lot of compositional (as well as musical performance) talents and the kind of patience/restraint that lets the vocal star...I listened to the acapella by Farisha & realized that I couldn`t likely do anything appropriate with it.....leave it to Richie...great bit of work all round my friend......Ed
Always good to read your comments and thanks for taking the time to listen and write some very kind words. Yup, as we have discussed many times before allowing the vocals to shine and only be supported by understated playing and production is always the goal. I hope I've done the vocal some justice here.
that backing e piano bit gives this one a nice smooth vibe (and a little R&B kind of sprinkle)...it wouldn`t be out of place on the pop charts as its nicely paced and you obviously spend more than a little time on the composition/arrangement..maintains the pace & key prog but has enough of those little breaks & transitions to keep the ears tuned in...noticed you limited fairly hard but the production sounds good...well done Memphis....I think you`ve got a good one going on here....Ed
hey Enzotic...nice work on this one..I like the way you balanced the levels of the vocal and backing music..not really crazy about the bass synth sound (but thats just a personal taste thing)...kudos on keeping the accompaniment just right (a bit minimal) and letting the vocal carry the song.....a big well done to you...Ed
Thanks for the feedback! I was definitely going for a minimalist vibe when I was making the instrumental; helps keep things interesting for me and hopefully any listeners!
Damn...you do trance well Chris...not that I know much about it but I actually did post a trance track on the Loop one time (on a dare)...it is a roller coaster all right...and I wasn`t even thinking of getting off till it was done...really hits a nice stride in that second section around 1:40...then sails off into orbit at 2:36....o.k...now I need a rest....well done mate.....Ed
Hey Rats...what a coincidence...I have a few hundred vinyl LPs stacked out in the garage & took a look through them the other night to see if I had anything that would entice somebody to come and buy the whole load....& I found the LP with this one on it in the pile...HaHa.....nuts...but big fun & we could all use more of that....and by the way...you did a mighty fine job on this one (I even learned the German lyrics to this one time).....Ed
hee hee excellent! im not sure what compelled me to cover this man it really affected me at a young age and i suppose i saw the original on youtube n went batshit....an yep it took me hours to get the German thing goin on, was NOT easy at all
Welcome to The Loop samern...I am sure you will find good musical friends here....I am always interested in hearing the compositional thinking, arrangements and special elements that musicians from different parts of our world bring with them...you do it well...I do not listen to a lot of metal rock but I do really like groups like Nightwish (Norway) that bring the melodic approach to it...Goth rock...I enjoyed this one...you have obviously put a lot of thought into making it not just metal...but melodic metal..good job....Ed
hell yeah...thought The Doors were going to start playing along with that intro bass line..meaty stuff with extra protein...your mama dont dance & your daddy dont rock n roll kind of feel but this one drives along with better power that gets the parts moving...there are a crazy bunch of people doing this...wish I was there...party on...love it silverman.....I`ll be back for more....Ed
Well Dave....you dont post as often as many of us (me in particular) would like...but when you do..man you just raise the bar...I`m not really sure what to even say about this one...for me, its an example of what might be accomplished when a group of fine musician /composers/ producers get together and build the music with thought and patience...(I`ll have another chat with myself about my lazy habits..but it hasnt worked before)...let me just say I enjoyed this one immensely...and I raise my glass in respect to all of you..(its just beer but I like it)...great stuff mate....Ed
Hey Ed...aahh mate your way too kind!..I'm definitely going to be lifting my musical output and want to explore more orchestrated pieces soon with extended acoustic backgrounds...it's heartening to hear a fine musician like yourself enjoying this piece,I was a little concerned it was too haphazard and all over the shop, maybe it is! haha...again thank you for taking the time to listen,I'll be heading down to your page for some Canadian 'windage' (I'm not absolutely certain what this actually means but someone said it in Full Metal Jacket in reference to whiskey and I thought it was cool! lol)..cheers mate Dave :)
danke seems to have a way of keeping things fairly simple yet grabbing your attention...and I think you have kept that approach going here TG...When I think of the songs that have stuck in my hear for years a big majority of them also have that same quality...you do it well my friend...I never stop by your place without being impressed and well entertained...great stuff..and delivered to my speakers just the way it should be.........Ed
Thanks...ED
I just tried to stay as close, as I could to him wanting to play that thing
or feel that he didn't play but belonged there from an artistic view of
the chord pattern...That's how I do it anyway...Easy Big formulas sound
better as well, simple to maintain the harmonics of the tune...with sustain...
The bounce guitar is just dancing with the hithat...
ED....It's nothing but some music, when you run into something that is fun
to do....Then it becomes a treat and a pleasure...
Thanks again for stopping in, both Danke and I are glad you enjoyed this...
Trying to create a mind picture with just the music...compositional thinking...is great fun & something I love to try to do myself EB..I sometimes think that music can communicate more than words...and you do it well.....this is one cool trip...carried that vibe you describe really well...nice mix of genres (which we shouldn`t pay attention to when we are creating stuff...we can figure it out later)...nice upbeat vibe...so maybe there is hope for us on Pandora....see you there.....Ed
Thank you Tumbleweed very much on that very well though out comment. N yes thank you for noticing the truest sense of my style. Helping the listener to " Visually Hear" with little words n sound effects is something I'm trying to master. I'm only peaking into the beginning of this style but I promise I will be the best! I really want to bring something almost like Opera and modernize it. In other words, very intense story with little or no words. Except my style enhances sound effects as well so that the listener can almost feel a " First Person Feeling" (almost like if you are in the song) I know this might sound all weird, but this is what I do to keep my uniqueness . Well sorry for the long talk and thanks once again Ed. Take Care -EazyBeatz :)
I echo Orlando`s comments Ookami...very proficiently played and very enjoyable listening...I think piano is a wonderful instrument and to my taste it stands perfectly on its own as well as in the company of other instruments...I dont have a good piano vst myself (and I do not play keys well enough to invest much in one)..I often use the piano sounds in my old Alesis QS6 synth (sample based) that I have had since the late 90s...very nicely done...keep them coming...Ed
Hi clindsay....I really like the way you have left the vocal clear and uncluttered here plus mixed in the additional vox parts....even better is the fact that leaving out the drum stuff allowed the vocals & choir to create their own rhythm...very cool indeed....great job my friend really enjoyed what you have done here and the sensitive way you developed the composition...take a well deserved bow....Ed
Thanks Ed - I'm glad you liked this - I think it works but it is definitely different from my other tracks. Farissa made it easy and it kind of wrote itself.
-clindsay
yes...very cool chill with a nice R&B kind of vibe that reflects some of your influences kd....enjoyed this one...your music deserves much more attention & many more listens my friend....you do it well......Ed (that little warbly vocal bit around 1:28 do sound a tad perculiar..is that the way it was sung?)
Hey Alex....definite fav here...love the cool yet funky vibe and the way you fused the instrumentation & beat together...I like the first 2 sections best I think but the whole thing is good listening in my book....more of a Latin vibe to the second section I think...while the 3rd part reflects more of a jazz vibe....It is a very unusual compositional approach to include the distinctively different styles in one mix...but it certainly makes for a most interesting listen...
thanks a lot Ed. really glad you liked this compilation. I agree - it's quite unusual and doesn't necessarily make sense as a whole stylistical suite of pieces. At least that way I could upload more tracks I made recently...
I am happy you enjoyed different vibes of these 4 tracks - I appreciate your listening and nice comments. Thanks again, Alex
Hi Orlando...well, I finally trying to do a little catch up this evening...so just had to stop by with my thanks...Once again you demonstrate the power of collaborative ideas...and when my own efforts fail me you have that special talent to take things another step forward....It is always a pleasure and I always enjoy the result as well as the process...and as always your talent and creativity shine....Ed
Thank God, Ed...I was afraid you have already frozen somewhere
in that cold weather in Canada...haha...all good then.:)
I think we had really good collaborative vibrations this time, so I have to say my sincere thanks back, cause this would never happen without your generosity on one side, and your musical excellence on the other...yes, as you say it's always a pleasure, so I'm looking forward for the next one.:)
you sure have one talented group of musicians in this one M...and it shows in the result..This is the kind of jazz that has a wide appeal for musicians of all genres....fantastic work and a big well done on the production too.....Ed
Thank you so much, Ed. We appreciate your kind words given to our little international group. Look for more of this line up along with other fine musicians.
you really have a nice mix going on this one Alex..especially like the piano.....I`ll have to check out crucethus`s mix again just for fun...but this is very cool.....Ed
thanks a lot Ed.
The short, isolated piano notes from the beginning are sampled from the crucethus's song. I played also some smooth chords and repeated piano one note motif in the second section using 4Font Piano plugin adding simple but really nice bassline at the same time. This track was definitely inspired by beautiful pads from the original and I used them a lot when making this version of the remix.
Glad you liked my production - I appreciate your comments. Alex
you know I love guitar Static...but the bass work in this one really grabbed my attention..I picked up bass in the 60s (influenced mainly by Chas of The Animals) & played a few years with my Brothers band when I wasn`t making a noise with my own group...always loved that walking around melodic bass style & you have loads of it going on here...the length does indeed make it a bit epic but you seem to use good glue to make it flow through the changes well..that little drop that starts around 5:10 is a fav bit...so is the whole funky vibe of the track...must say I enjoyed the music big time..and that is of course always a metter of taste....I wont comment on the mix detail as I try to do so when I might be able to offer a suggestion on how someone could do what they are trying better/more effectively...not sure when I could do that here...its your music Static...and even though I seldom listen to real lengthy mixes...you do it well.......Ed
Lots of audio and synth parts in this were made way back around 2002. One of many projects sitting on successive hard drives waiting to be completed as I go through software updates, new gear and techniques and the eventual return to the desire to begin working on them again.
The best bass playing that you're talking about is all from all those years ago. Some fun funk there, for sure.
I actually started out as a bass player in my teenage years but became much more of a guitarist after about 5 years and that's my main skill these days. I don't play bass often though I also often go a week or two without recording (perhaps even picking up) any of my guitars.
5:10 I thought that section might be one of the weaker ones here. It's definitely quite a change from what's preceded it.
Here's a much more recent funk track containing quite a bit of bass guitar.
And I'm trying to complete a new epic that is probably my greatest ever funk track. Lots of bass guitar in that one too. It's called Bright Side Of The Sun and is coming soonish to The Loop.
P.S. Anyone's free to make suggestions about my stuff. So much going on that I totally appreciate all the other ways that it could have been done. Or could still be done! I do occasionally go back and change things based on/inspired by people's suggestions or criticism.
that pella is working really well the way you have it in here clindsay...this is a mover and then some...the higher synth pads make it uplifting kind of bouncy stuff & them stabs are great..the outro drums caught me a bit off guard...if you keep doing this I`m going to have to start listening to a lot more of the genre than I sometimes do...great job....Ed
Ed - thanks so much - you could be a professional reviewer. I tried several outros and this was kind of the default considering that this is supposed to be a dance track and lead into the next track. Thanks for the detailed response!
-clindsay
not really enough to give some informed feedback Axion...but I think you are off to a good start...not my genre so my feedback would likely not be really useful...if you wanted some feedback on mastering...I would definitely recommend you put all the detailed work you can into the mix itself first..EQ, Comp on the individual tracks that need it etc...volume automation to keep the interest etc...mix it down to a new stereo track when its as good as you can get it...and consider Mastering as a separate process...I have beem using T-RackS since version 1..new version has some presets that might be useful (as a starting point only)...but I would suggest you master in a new project that allows you to apply the few main mastering plug-ins you will need..mastering is experience based and does requiire you invest in knowledge/education in the fundamentasl at least....keep it going....Ed
