This is definitely one of your best domr30...it has a very professional sound and is beautifully mixed/produced....much better that many of the songs I hear on my radio....bravo mon ami....much enjoyed......Ed
lots of tension....action.....a bit ominous..dangerous......if thats what you were going for I think you nailed it right on ant4505.....could be the soundtrack for a gladiator movie...it certainly is different...and that is a good thing....a big well done to you.....Ed
In a gladiator match I think there are some tension, action and certainly dagerous so its that I wanted to create in a music. I think I did it well. Also a big thanks you ED for this comment
well ProgRockDan.....Patricia deserves the finest of accompaniament...and you do it well...this one has a splash of motown and bit of ye good olde R&B when it was real R&B...a sprinkle of gospel...a touch of blues...maybe its its own genre but its great listening over my way this evening...good job...enjoyed it......Ed
ED, thank you for visiting. I was working at staying true to her original vocals. I thought they had a splash of motown, a bit of R&B, gospel, and her own unique touch. I'm glad you appreciate what I did with it.
If I could fly...something like this would be the accompaniment...gliding smoothly...then swooping up in the current...the special attractions of the landscape that grab the attention for a few moments....its a great trip Steve....wonderful mind pictures painted by one hell of a fine artist.....Ed (PS:your versatility is showing again)
Thank you Ed, I had a moment of artistic indulgence and I started to realize that my work around here may not be mainstream, but is a appreciated as a "Musicians musician". For that I am humbled and extremely grateful. Versatility is just my wanting to explore every nook and cranny of music. That curiosity keeps me going.
Slainte my friend.
Steve
I have always felt that the cinematic and ambient genres offered the greatest creative scope to musicians/composers..the challenge of creating the soundscape, implied melodies & vibe that conveys mind pictures...I would just as soon listen to this kind of music without the video as the mind just seems to automatically script the scene & feeling..those choir like pads give it a kind of majestic/mysterious vibe...I dont often listen to almost 12 min tracks unless they are backing a video/movie...but this one kept me listening until the end (cool outro section)...well done TheSavage.......Ed
deep and smoooooth Leverette...you made it an interesting listen with the breaks/drops & changeups..guess I`m pretty old school as I usually as I often unplug from electronic mixes that hold & repeat the same chord prog all the way through...but I enjoyed this one....well done to you..nicely produced too.....keep on....Ed
Fantastic bit of musical creativity here...a beautiful journey as it turns out...that sort of parts company with its original self around the 2 min mark...music with feeling that conveys some interesting/peaceful mind pictures...standing ovation from an old guy up in Canada.....Bravo.......Ed
any time you plug in with Pete you are definitely off to a running start EB....the processed drums are really prominent but go great with the whole vibe of the track...you take it to a new place ...and aint that the beauty of collabs...when you can multiply the talent and combine ideas with fellow talents....very nicely done...enjoyed this one big time......Ed
One instrument...a melody played with feeling....what better way to let the music speak....and a perfect lullaby...if you just let that very last note hold by itself for a couple of seconds the ending would be perfect too Cindy...enjoyed this one....very relaxing and very honest music.....well done....Ed
Hello Ed :)
I really appreciate your comment specially about the very last note to be hold by itself .
I will try to do what you've told.
your kind feedback means alot to me .
thank you very much .
Cindy :)
where did you get that voice Joe....best dam zombie I`ve heard this halloween....well...I`m sitting here with a big smile on my face...a zombie folk song...only joecramer could do it like this..I can see the video in my mind...big fun Joe...and a big well done to you...thanks for making some noise & having some fun with a couple of my loops....made my day.......Ed
nice to hear that i put a smile on your face.
That´s wherefor i done it.
Your samples are exelent. I realy tryed to play almost something same on my own guitar but i failed at the F (i´m a real bad chord player) and after a few trys and went to loopermans search and found them - wow realy the same row i wanted to play and with a bassline - and so well played in almost the same style i tryed befor ......
So it was a great pleasure for me to sing to them.
And the voice :) - how knows - maybe i am a zombie and i didnd pitched down?
I think you are off to a really good start GC...I haven`t listened to a lot of D&B but when I do I often find some really rich sounds behind the beat in a lot of the mixes..nice width in the backing..you might be able to get a bit more power in the drums with fairly fast attack, quick release compressor...I would even try just a touch of mid-side processing on them (I know that is a bit unusual)...Nugen makes a Stereoizer vst with a drum kit preset (very subtle) that really works great...I use the free version that came with Computer Music Mag a couple of years ago...try a bit more 80hz on your bass eq..and scoop out a little more between 200-400..You have room for a bit more limiting if you want when you get it finalized... just a couple of very minor suggestions GC & they may not help as I expect you already have a good knowledge of where you are at.....you have a really good mix on the go..and I sure am no expert when it comes to mixing most of the electronic genres....You have set yourself some high goals...but give it time...and get your reading from reputable sources ....keep on man......Ed
Thanks alot Tumbleweed. I will definitely use your suggestions, drums are going to be heavily edited in this. I can also edit the mid-side and sides by using Ozone's 4 powerful equalizer. (I know they have 6 out currently) I usually do this by the mastering stage. And I don't think it should be too much different mixing a electronic type of track compared to maybe a acoustic or chillout track such as yours. Alot of my productions would probably sound maybe better if I had a sub for monitoring to pick up the rest of the lows. All I have are my AV40's from M audio and some studio standard sony headphones. I apologize if bass was perhaps too loud, I start alot of rough mixes like that. Love bass, and by "and get your reading from reputable sources" do you mean my description? Either way, thanks again for checking this one out. peace
Well...if you combine the imaginations & talent of the participants in this one you just gotta come up with something special....I was appreciating the creativity while listening & sitting here with a smile after...Happy Halloween.Y`all......great stuff.......Ed
With all the instrumentation choices we have now and the unlimited track numbers provide its always tempting (for me anyway) to add something more..I sometimes find it useful to go back later and question how each part contributes to the mix...and delete any that do not....I really like this one the way it is Alex...there is enough room to add more (particularly in the lower-mid frequencies) and that may be good too..there is nothing against having some fun with our music......at present each parts sits nice and clearly in the mix and it still carries a fairly minimalist vibe...Sounds good to me....well done guys.....Ed
thanks a lot Ed,
Yes, sometimes I can work in reverse, removing the elements... I am questioning this one as well at the moment.
This tune is experimental - my attempt in unknown electronic genre inspired by DanceDemagogue who makes a dark-electronic stuff. He added far-out ambient elements to it.
It is my remix over his remix. The bassline was lost during the process I did. There's some limitations cause I am working on an old laptop - I pushed it to it's limits by this one anyway.
I am still looking forward to create simple instrumental acoustic piano/epiano music.
Im glad you liked this one - many thanks for your thoughts! It's appreciated.
Alex
good for you RealProblemShuckers...very cool & easy listening chill you have going on here...the crossover points on some of the looops are a bit noticible ( intro in particular)...but the music overcomes that little issue...enjoyed this one...keep on my young friend...a big well done to you...Ed
you have listened to my noises Apeiceoftofu...so you know that I`m not well informed on some of the electronic genres..that doesn`t mean I dont listen...and I sure can appreciate music in most genres when it is well done...this is well done man....big power...nice clean pumping mix that still retains all the dynamics of the instruments....personally I like the edgier lead arp as it contrasts nicely with the smoothness of the bass & beat...this one is up there with the best of them..its a bit addicting....a big well done to you....even an old guitar guy likes it a lot....Ed
really catchy groove Killumineye...for some reason it puts me in mind of some of the r&b, funk from the 70s...as our friend Bear mentioned...lots of room for additions if you decided on anything further...its always a temptation for fellow musicians when they hear a good groove & it leaves room for their musical imaginations to add something...the minimal approach works fine...it lives in its own groove nicely....well done...Ed
You just cant go wrong when you plug in with the Bear on music Mark...really good job (as usual) on the vocal...and I just have to compliment you on your writing skills...we all have words but there is a special talent in putting them to music in a way that tells the tale....You`ve got some good rock going on here guys...standing ovation from an old guy out west......Ed
Ed,
My productional mentor; everything you have taught me I hold dear. Always a huge compliment coming from the pro. TY.
Bear is not only a stellar musician but an awesome person.
Mark.
Orlando my friend....I knew it would be good before I hit play...but it is even beyond my high expectation of your music...superb production values (I`m listening on headphones tonight)...love the composition ideas you bring in...those breaks that let the sound soak into your mind...Definitely a fav...and thank you for the download...this one is going on my MP3 player for my Sunday walk in the park.....EXCELLENT.........Ed
Welcome again Ed...I have to admit I had a bit of a 6th sense
you will like this.:)I can't explain rationaly why, but I simply felt that way...and now it seems even more...your words give me a hint this could be your favorite Orlando track to date. And ofcourse I trust your verdict more than anyone else, so for me personaly is nice to know that I can
surpass myself from time to time, yet there's always that burden of obligation not to fall into abyss of stagnation afterwards.
Anyways, I'm really happy and grateful for this generous feedback of yours. When a fellow musician whom I admire the most says this is excellent, I can't wish anything better.:)
Not your usual hip hop....just good music in whatever genre it is (I`m not particularly knowledgeabout genres)...seems to have a touch of what is now called R&B...a sprinkling of soul....the synth sweep is what takes it a bit aside from being easier to define...but...in any case...I like your musical imagination & enjoyed the listen....looks like you are due to do a new one soon NS...good job on this......Ed
great groove...hard to sit still to this one doudei...wonderful playing and nice clean production...I`m with Bear...could have listened much longer but enjoyed it much....we could use more of these doudei.....Ed
hey Ed,
really happy to see you enjoyed it and i am considering making an extended version - also there is already some new stuff in progress :)
thanks again for the comments and take care, Ed!
Hey James....y`all gotta sing with a southern twang if its going to be country HaHa...just kidding...I keep threating to learn to play slide better (mainly for blues)but every time I try I make these gawd aweful noises...guess I`ll have to raise the strings on one of my guitars further above the frets...anyway...nice rock vibe to this one...a well composed, played & delivered mix...enjoyed the listen up my way this Saturday.....Ed
Hi Ed, Yep he was missing the southern drawl on this one. Hehe. It helps to have a higher strings for the slide. I was lucky I have not played slide guitar in about 10 years but though I would give it a try again since I wanted something different on this.
Also Thanks for your nice compliments on my Musical ability. I think I am ok on things, I am glad like you when another musician compliments my ability.
We should do a collaboration when I get my main axe back from a fret job
This one really bounces along...good energy and a nice smooth vibe...I like it Paul...being an old rhythm guitar & bass player for more than a few years I would have liked to hear a key change part thrown in there somewhere...it holds that D# progression all the way (really nice little prog by the way)...but thats just the way my ear works I guess....good listening just as it is mate....well done to you.....Ed
Hey Ed I can't thank you enough for your kind words I have been a member for a while but this is my first post so for someone to enjoy it is great. you make a very good point with the key change as with a lot of my music I find I get a little torn between a club sound (the continuous drive of the groove or beat) or a conventional verse ,chorus ,middle eight ,(so as to add depth and key change to the overall melody) I find that usually gets determined by the accapella I'm using and I think your right with this track it becomes a bit monotonus staying in the same key. Especially because the vocal chorus part is actually pretty cool .again thanks for taking the time to listen and comment, I'm now going to check your stuff. Cheers Paul
I really enjoy hearing a young artist who puts a lot of thought into the composition rather than fitting things into some currently popular box....bravo....I see you already have quite a few input comments on the production, but the main thing for me is that you have the right musical ingredients...the production stuff comes with practice and the right sources of information....the cinematic genre is a great place for the freedom to try and creat your own musical mind pictures....enjoyed this one EYEDYE.....keep on......Ed
Really like this one GoldenOokami....I played bass with a group for a while so I really like the walking bass style myself...contrasts nicely with the guitar lines...I hear a bit of medevil/new age in it (mainly the guitar & key bits)...This definitely is different and the good thing about that is it makes a real interesting listen all the way to the end...the interaction of the instruments if certainly not your standard fare so it might not appeal to everyone but this ol boy enjoyed it in any genre you like......well done guys.....keep on...Ed
Thank you Ed. My partner for this track, Rozen, has a specific producing style which made this unique track possible. The intention was medieval-based, but it took off from there. Very proud of this track, and the awesome collaboration.
Yes...lots of energy clindsay...and lots of power in the drums...that section at 1:09 kicks butt...very effective change up from the power in the intro...it takes more than a little musical imagination to put one like this together even if you used all loops...and the production sounds good....a big well done....keep on......Ed
