Hello, Ed.

That may be the highest compliment I've ever received here. Deeply appreciated. I've been trying to not rush anything with the last few tracks. Hope it shows.

Thank you again for your very kind words. Kinda blew me away.

I think its most all been said in the comments ahead of me Richie...I really wish the hell I could find music like this in the commercial (non indie) world...its is just so damn good...if I were to go down the list of performance and production check offs they would all be ticked off with top scores...guess all I have to do is join the rest of your listeners in a standing ovation....I always expect the best here at your palace and it always seems to be even better than could be expected...superb.....Ed

on Stop the wars by JasonCroft
You think deeply for a guy your age my friend...the human tribes of the earth have fought for most of history...the leaders invent enemies to build armies...which control the people...and keep the corrupt in power...if there were advanced alien civilizations they would likely see humans as a parasite..and parasites always destroy their host (earth)...I was glad to hear the sound of hope at the end for sometimes that is all we have...and must have... and the goodness of most of humanity shows itself in times of need.....music is a wonderful creative way to express feelings...you do it well....so no more self critisizing...your music is composed with thoughtfulness and creativity...well done to you..Ed

on Nature Haunts with Pete Tebar by DanGoldstein
I easily get a mind picture of the art this may accompany..I don`t often think in terms of genres though I think this would cross several in its evolving journey and has quite an experimental focus..certainly does have the darkness so I`m feeling those woods are not the birds, butterflys and dappled sunshine type..haha...very interesting to hear the results of a collab of two such talented artists...definitely going to check out the link...well done guys...Ed

It has been amazing discovering Pete's process a little. No - these be some "watch out" woods. Glad if you were feeling it a little Ed. Always more to do but moving on is important also - so on I move. Thanks as always for support. Dan

The kind of R&B I remember being R&B T.G.....definitely has that vibe...creates a nice feeling...kind of nostalgic for me as I really liked a lot of the R&B groups that used to be...(I have one of those little SR18s too...haven`t used it in a while)...This just good listening music performed with talent..Think I better DL this one & transfer it over to my music PC that has proper monitors...a nice way to wrap up the day out West here.....right on....Ed

You should do more chill Steve...this is really good...when I looked at the hard limiting on the Wav picture I expected a big pumping mix but it sounds good (synth is a lot more forgiving that acoustic instruments)....the vocal is good and it has a nice balance of the warm, low & higher/lighter sounds...nice smoooooth listening over my side of the pond....well done...Ed

on Premonator with Spivkurl Promenade Mix by promenade2239
I hear the thought you put into the composition Alex...makes for a very interesting listen...quite unusual synth sounds (something I would expect when you and Spiv get together)...I don`t like using the work cool...but it is indeed a very cool mix and a great listen...I am reminded that good ondie music isn`t on the radio...its on LM and sites that support real creativity.....great job bu you and Spiv.....Ed
promenade2239
promenade2239 replied 31st Oct 2015 - 10 years ago
hello Ed

Thank you for listening and kind comment!

Actually all the synths on the track are mine - Spiv helped me alot to record them properly.
Those unusual sounds are programmed sequences from Arturia Microbrute played at a high rate.
I think the 'Premonator' will still evolve and the other version will be posted sometime.

Regarding to the radio... basically I've tried what I can on the level of composition and arrangement but still there is so much I can do to adjust my recordings to the modern standards. They are usually much quiter. This might become important when playing tracks as a list/set or as an album. So far my focus is on the single tracks in different styles as it somehow fits Looperman nature very well so the lack of mastering is not the problem.
Our styles are indeed quite different but recently I've started experimenting with real synthesizers. Also I want to get more of them in the near future so I will definitely be continuing the 'process'.

I am glad that you enjoyed our efforts. Thanks again!

on The Holy Man Syndrome by 7venth12
I always find it interesting to hear where some artists are taking hip hop...this one could cross over a few other genres too I think...I really like the instrumentation you are using here 7venth...nice key progression and the appropriate breaks to let each section play its part & hold interest...the spoken work story is a bit different, but it suits the whole vibe of the mix and makes it stand out from the crowd....well done...Ed

on Yours Within -ft NanuNanu by ValveDriver
Oh yes...I hear that menacing darkness of the Valvedriver here..but as you say...it does indeed take you along for that kind of ride where you know you are going to be cruising through anything you encounter on the journey...there is something epic about it and the vocals do give it a touch of "World music" vibe (particularly at the intro)...like the subtle distorted guitar rhythm...has that nice fat pumping vibe...whats to say...definitely a fav...its the kind of music that makes sites like LM important to me...its a bit like some of your fav artists getting together after their commercial days & doing something together that they/you just really like....great track Aaron....good to hear a new one from you...hope all is well in your world...I1ll be back for more when I catch up with myself.....Ed

Ed, hello.

Thanks for the kind words, my friend. It's always encouraging. Funny thing about this tune, It was originally supposed to be a slow sensual track that was going to be used for a dance...of the more erotic variety. But, the more I worked on it, the more I felt it needed. I suppose it still could be used for that, but it wasn't what I originally intended.
Anyhow, thanks again. As you know, I always appreciate your feedback.

Take care.
Aaron.

on One Life Is Not Enough by Bindanox
I think composing/playing is always fun & interesting...I use the cinematic genre quite a bit just for that reason (lots of license)..I never really got into chiptune & didn`t have much of an ear for it till I listened to some of the stuff Spivcurl was doing here on the loop...(I suppose thats because my first synth/keyboard efforts were to add pads, strings etc to what I was doing)...It really does seem to marry up well with those classic video games.....you do it well....I`ll be back to check out some more of your tracks when I catch up with myself over here....Ed

on Trick Or Treat Street by BjornChapman
I think you really nailed the horror flick concept Bjorn...definitely on the heavy side of horror..has a bit of a metal vibe with those distorted sounds...I`m thinking you had fun doing this one...the ending really works...the mix is very hard limited so everything up to the outro sounds quite distorted...keep on...Ed

know what you mean about the musical funk T.A....something always comes along to inspire eventually...but really like what you have created here in the meantime...its quite an artistic accomplishment to compose a piece of music that conveys the feeling you describe this well...particularly like that rich piano...could have listened a lot longer so I took it for a couple of spins....great job...definite fav...Ed

I had the privilege of recording & producing a country Christmas album for a local vocalist a couple of years ago..it was a joy as the lady was an experienced and formally trained vocalist and totally on the money when she stepped up to the mic...This one would have fit that album perfectly cellardoor..her tracks were mainly of the emotional story variety...You really nailed this one...standing ovation from this ol guitar guy....bravo....Ed

on AlrightItiYati Aquarium vocalMix with Spivkurl by promenade2239
One of the good things about sites like LM is you can find music that is totally different from the main stream commercial junk our radios try to fee us...and this one certainly is different...has a little Spanish vibe to the rhythm..that one prominent sound is not one I have heard before...not sure about it...but you have some very cool backing going on...great job guys....keep doing it your way...Ed
promenade2239
promenade2239 replied 26th Oct 2015 - 10 years ago
Hello Ed

Thank you for listening and nice comment! You're definitely right about the commercial radio junk format haha. I am still trying to create everything almost entirely from scratch which may give some quite original musical results sometimes. Thanks for pointing this!

I forgot to post a proper link to the Vocal Song Remix Contest http://www.looperman.com/forum/thread/183949/vocal-song-remix-contest This track is only a short sketch so far and I want to extend it very soon into at least 8min mix. I have some concepts and many sounds ready to go but very limited time for the actual production.
The original acapella is in Eb Major http://www.looperman.com/tracks/detail/168179 but I somehow managed to connect it with bassline in E adding lot of distracting sounds ('aquarium' sounds are Roland patches). I sliced the vox and played it ramndomly using a sampler. Clavinet bassline and Electric Piano are from Roland as well - the harmony is Emaj - EbMaj progression.

I am not sure which particular rhythm pattern you mean as spanish - I added Groove Filter which is delay-type plugin to epiano layer, it might produce quite funky patterns...

I am happy that you find this one interesting and many thanks for good words and your continous support! I will try to make major updates quickly and post longer version before the end of the competition.

All the best to you, Alex
