on ANAESTHESIA Instrumental track by lechina
yea - i've been there with the self-induced trance thing. definitely gotta know when to walk away (walk the dog). but you have a nice groove going here, the bass is nice and clear. it's a happy, enjoyable track so don't be too hard on yourself! best regards! Dan

Beautiful rich sounds. Hope someone mixes a beautiful song with it. It is fantastic how you lay out all of your loops for folks here. All the best! Dan

Yep, I made sure to play everything in time so that when it came time to chopping, there wouldn't be issues with looping :)

Thanks for the love Midisparks, hopefully there is a lyricist that wants to show what they got on this track.

on The Hero Has Returned -Remake- by ReonN
it occurred to me while listening to the intro that we don't use triplet rhythms very often - you used it and it created a lot of interest for me. I love the transition to main groove at 3 minutes in. The active bass is very cool. Transition back to gentle section not my cup of tea but well done (did not seem in character with the rest of the piece). Beautiful feeling in this one and excellent job with all the technical aspects. regards - Dan

The last couple of months I have been focusing more and more on the mixing. Before that it was always quick tuning because I had no clue. There is stilla lot I can learn but I am glad you hear that it is improving!

on Apocalypse 2016 - power version by joecramer
nice song! cool sounding vocal mix. congrats on your new DAW!

Burt is really cooking on this one.

For my headphones you could bring the vocal up front more in certain sections.

nice work!

Hello Dan

Burton was extremely fast on this one and did a great work.
Nice to know that you like what we did. And i know what you you mean with the vocals but there was this little problem that i forgot to save the dry version and now i had to do another recording for some fx free one that i could bring a bit more into the center :) but i am so creative right now that i do so much tracks at the same time that i didn't found any time for that right now ... but it is in my mind
Thanks for your gentle comment

stay tuned

Very musical, soulful feeling. It is a breath of fresh air around 1:55 with the electric piano (i think) entrance and then the responses from the organ. Enjoyed a lot!

on RcXd Test mix up by RcXd45
very imaginative. it is original because it is just such an in-your-face composite of disparate loops and hits. And it works. Nice robot ending! good transition between your sections. Good luck and look forward to more of this! Cheers. Dan

on Gerwin loves Janneke - Dance With Me by Indozizz
Is it the beautiful sustained choral patch synth, the gentle but insistent egg-round electro kick, or perhaps the idiomatic synth solos that emerge subtly from the texture, or all of these, that hold us from moment one to moment last in this stellar trance entry. I am inspired and awe-inspired by this track. Congrats on fantastic work.

It is a great start. Even though the notes descend, it is not a down feeling at all - more introspective I would say. Good luck on further development! Dan

Got ya and thanks.

I feel like it changes mood the whole synth i made, thats why i called it slide of emotions.

But you know it can be interpreted differnt ways.

Thanks man! :D

on Modern Disease by Spivkurl
your vocal stylizing continues to mature. lots of control. really working for me. as others already note, your mastery of this medium is inspiring and instructive. no matter how out there you get, you are musical and the mixing standards are not sacrificed. hats off brother.
Spivkurl
Spivkurl replied 14th Feb 2016 - 9 years ago
Thank you very much for taking a listen. I apologize for taking too long to reply! It's interesting that you mention "control" when speaking of my vocal style, mainly because that is something I have struggled with, and worked hard to practice. Control is so important in getting a good vocal recording. I would go so far as to say that it is more important than the microphone or the room. I am very interested in standards and statistics, and their relation to physics and mathematics... the more I grasp these connections, the more I feel comfortable straying from the conventions... it's like remembering your way home. I really appreciate the listen!

yes - for me it has a wonderful introspective vibe. the choice of piano over the synth is wonderful and your drum mixing is super clean. where to next with this one?!

on Nothing Left by Jeffiedillard
The bass is powerful. nice mix of your kick and low-end elements. Once you get into the thick of it, say around 1:09, I would enjoy perhaps a bit more of the lead sound and a bit less of the bass. what do you mean when you say this is for your book?

on Mother Earth by MagneticRecords
every one of your elements has its own nice home in the mix and your sounds all come through beautifully. I was thinking (just personal preference) that it would be nice to be washed on both left and right with the strings and have some of the more active stuff bouncing from speaker to speaker. well - it's always easy to the backseat driver! Nice work my friend.

on 11 Hey Now by Eighteen
I like the japanese pop feel a lot. my x was a big anime fan and this track reminds me of some of the opening songs to the anime productions - like kenshin, gundam, dragonball, etc. when the vocal would be female. You did a great job creating a fresh style incorporating some of those japanese pop elements. congrats!
