I like your work here brother. I see you are more focused on loops than full tracks these days. Dan Goldstein

Thanks, Dan! Yeah, I think of a loop as being a "short form" like a poem or short story, haha.

Ahhh... nothing like a sweet FMAJ7 to wind it up.

Such a magical track. Love this genre and you have a wonderful handle on it. Awesome drum machine chops. Beautiful sounds and mood created. Best regards, Dan

Nice to hear the modal scale and the open harmonies in this one. It is a haunting track to be sure. There was a suggestion about adding a bass guitar or some such. I agree with that. Nice work.

I would like to learn from you some basic mastering. I think you have a good grasp of it, given the quality of this production. Not just the loudness, but the balance also. Beautiful work.

I'm not that experienced but thank you Dan that means a lot - I've been working on my mixing skills but still a huge amount to learn! Some of the techniques I've used are double tracking the vocals and pan slightly left and right and use EQ to cut out the unwanted frequencies on every channel. For mastering I use eMastering.com gives pretty decent results for us amateurs lol

Great playing and well balanced mix. I understand the vocals are work in progress. Perhaps carve out a bit more space with EQ in his low frequencies, a bit of high frequency shelf boost, some delay? Nice job. Dan

Thanks for the feedback. I will need to carve out some space for the vocals for sure. I have not given the track the full Nectar 3 treatment yet. It has an analysis mode that listens to the track as a whole and automatically carves out space for the vocals. Thanks for the listen.

Super work. In trance, i think it is about subtle changes that seem to grow organically out of the repetition and constantly keep the track fresh and evolving. that's what happens here.

The vocal lies beautifully on top of everything.

Congrats!

on Thanks For Watching by toobloops
this track got me thinking about the difference between 'electro' and 'electronic' genres. still not sure i know the answer but it does seem the 'electro' handle fits here. nice energy here. well done
toobloops
toobloops replied 23rd Mar 2020 - 5 years ago
thx for listening! tbh I don't know the difference either! I suppose EVERYTHING nowadays could be considered electronic ... I guess if it's "Electro" it's really focusing on the fact that it's electronic based on how it sounds? trippy

love your snare! Sounds great. Liking that sax solo around 2:35 and forward. Nice surprise to have those vocal clips come in. Perhaps solos, and those vocal clips, could be brought forward a bit.

Nice work.

I like how the kick supports the rhythm of the synths. i like the clean breaks between sections sections. this music speaks to me as accompaniment for a movie scene.

I understand why you went with trance, because it is hypnotic and repeating. It's a beautiful mix - parts are crystal clear and the whole thing is rich and full. Look forward to hearing more. Dan

I like the effect :52 in and I like the transition effects a lot. You have a nice feel for this style. How do you get the stutter effect? Nice work.
Sloppy0
Sloppy0 replied 19th Mar 2020 - 5 years ago
If you are talking about the effect at 1:36, its all of the synths, including the lead, chords, and the bass, put through a low pass filter and then I automate the filter quickly from 100% to 0% over and over.

nice timing on your rap and the overall mix is really good. It's a loud track but the sounds are all sitting in their own sweet spots. The rap is nice and strong over the mix.

I hope you will continue developing your excellent rap style. You have great sense of timing. Over time perhaps you will experiment with developing various vocal colors, variety of expression, etc.

B, Wow, i accidentally managed to do something right. :)

I'm always hope by the B. :)

I like the balance between the vocal and the beat. I like your 808 sound and your kick is real punchy. If you are using compression, which I think you are, I feel you could use somewhat less. Nice work. Sounds cool! Dan
