yep, MrE is right ... mix could be a little more balanced ...
but the song itself is well composed and arranged, and the concept is great!!!
mixing is mostly a matter of experience, but it's the key for a good sound ... I spend about 85% of the production time with mixing, sometimes more ... ;-)
over all this is a good track!!! great!
Dude, thank you a million times for listening to, and reviewing, my tune.
I know exactly what you mean about mixing down.
I seem to spend countless hours fiddling with all the knobs and sliders, but it still doesn't come out like I want it to (especially when vocals are involved). I know that part of the problem is that these cheesy desktop speakers don't reproduce any bass at all, but it's mostly (as you said) a matter of lack of experience. Hopefully, I'll get better at it as time goes on. I just need to learn the right techniques...
Thanks again for taking the time to give me a listen and post a review, rei. I really do consider you to be one of the best guitarists I've ever heard, bro, so it means a lot to me when someone such as yourself expresses a little interest.
great!!! a very relaxed and backseated track, real fun to listen to ... silent happiness ... blues vibe makes everything possible ...
very nice composition!!!
mmmmmh ... this is what I call "hypnotic" ...
that bassline is almost magnetic!
it's pretty rare to hear a track where the word "dope" fits so perfect than for this one ... ;-)
awesome work!!!
no weak points ... not at all ...
rei - when I joined this site and started playing with loops I put up my first tracks as "Trance" because of their hypnotic quality. I'm glad I can still create this mental/emotional space with my work. I'm delighted and flattered that you improve! And I'm really delighted to see you've got more tracks up! Will be listening and reviewing more of yours shortly! Thanks much for the listen and review.
that's a real good track ... very 80's regarding the sounds ...
and pretty energetic ...
some lower frequencies would be a good addition imo, but that's no must, more a matter of taste ...
all in all it's a very solid production, very tight, with great vocal work and good arrangement ... great work so far!!
Thanks a lot rei, I think you are right, it certainly could use a much more pronounced bass instrument. I am putting the acapella up, maybe someone else will make better music for it. I have lost my interest in the song, I worked on it to long and ended up ruining the instruments with my overdoing the filters and equalizing. I was ready to move on anyway. Thanks.
wow ... very minimalistic!!!
but also very interesting ... I have heard many tracks with my loops before, but this is one of most creative ones ... I really like it!! thx for using the loop!!
Thanks! I am condemned creatively.. mostly ;) Now I must work on technique and rhythm. You have so many interesting loops, the next track is on the horizon... completely surely ;)
woaaah!!! starts so gentle and then ... bammm!!!
awesome ... just awesome ...
I'm lovin everything in this masterpiece!!!
I'm a great fan of simple licks, many people seem to think that only the spectacular licks are hard to play and show the skills someone has ... I think you and me know it better ...
very very very good track!!!
Hey man, thanks for checking out my latest. Guess I have a way of sucking folks in eh? hee hee.
Start out soft so you'll turn up your speakers...and then 'bam' as you say.
Your very right, people don't have to do blazing fast leads in order to make a nice song. The right notes at the right time works the best.
I keep wondering how to better myself with each new passing tune...but its hard.
maybe you didn't receive my e-mail ... but you need to change your avatar, the picture size is messing up the layout of the site ...
it's a great picture, but it's way too big!!!!!!!
man, this is a brilliant composition!! wonderful song ...
you need to find a producer for it, honestly, this has a lot of potential ...
and you have a lot of potential as a singer ... that's great!!
for some reasons the reverb seems to be only on one channel (left), the other one is dry .... is that intended??
have you ever thought of recording with 2 or more microphones?? I think this would enhance the brilliant sound of your guitar a lot ... it's pretty hard to record acoustic instruments and get their full sound ...
but your playing Dan, your playing is marvellous!!!
the song is well thought out, a great composition, execution is flawless from my point of view ...
great fun to listen to ... very enjoyable!!!
I record using an electro-acoustic guitar (the one in main pic) but my computer is 8 years old and acts strangely from time to time ; usually when recording. I could really do with a newer much better set-up (its on my wish list) but I have to make do with this for now. Thanks for your suggestions I may try recording pure acoustic with 2 microphones. glad u enjoyed this track.
Rei,
Thanks Rei,
related to music that is the only positive thing about losing the onces you love. It can give you so much emotion and inspiration in music. But I would gladly give that back in return for all my friends and family I lost.

I know exactly what you mean by it ending too soon. I have a funny feeling this is going to turn into one of those Epic long ass songs, with me sinking more time into it. I wanted to get the rough idea down ASAP with what I was hearing inside my head. I live a block away from a convientent store, I found myself singing out words and practicing some prospective vocal Comps. I was really uncertain what the hell I was singing when I laid down this track and it's rather weak. I hear another chord that the opening here is wanting to move to. I might experiment with it some. I do need to get my hands on some killer TOM drums and Cymbols to pull off the part that kicks in for Drive. I don't know what the Next Level of this song is going to go to, what it's going to sound like. I'm open to any suggestions or ideas anybody wants to toss out. Even loops or whatnot. 120 BMP is what it's set at. :-)
that's a very nice blues track with interesting harmonies!!!
I miss a bass in the middle part, but you said it's not finished ...
anyway, I like this track!!!
Good ears! I did not get to the chorus and 2nd chorus for the bass part yet. Do you play the bass? Would love to have someone play bass on it. This was done with a MIDI keyboard...
perfect music for meditation!!!!
this track forces you to use your imagination, awesome ...
and I have no idea how to get sounds like this out of a guitar ...
very very interesting!!!
Hi Rei,
This was my Westone Spectrum DX with a Bendmaster Deluxe Whammy bar, Going Through a tiny amp called a Rockman by Tom Scholz, going through a Digitech DSP 256 FX processor. He used the volume knob alot. From that, straight into the old Tascam 246 four track cassette recorder.
hey, thank you for uploading this!!!
takes me back to the times when Jan Hammer or even Jeff Beck startet to discover that sounds and did amazing music ...
even Herbie Hancock entered the charts at that time ...
and listening to this track I bet you listened to the same heroes as I did ... lol
great!!!
what a ride!!!
it's amazing what you can do with that loops, I'm really honoured to be included here!!
so much drive in this track ... brilliant arrangement, it takes you on a journey, and it's indeed something like a chase ...
thank you man, fantastic work!!
peace, rei
(and btw: I did myself a track with some of the "yellow-loops", it's called "Breathless" ... by far not so complex as your track, but I like it ...)
that guitar sample in the beginning is awesome!!!!
your arrangements are pretty cool ...
a little too much reverb for a living room though ... ;-)
great track!!
very very good playing ... most of all the drummer!!!
I really love that track, has something of Dave Matthews Band if you ask me, with different instrumentation of course, but with similar special vibes ...
excellent songwriting, very inspiring ...
great work!!!
my first thought was: this could be John Spencer's Blues Explosion ....
I love that raw and dirty style!!!
amazing and incredible track ...
awesome ...
Thanks man, It took some work to make some of the clean loops dirty to blend with the others. Then take everything to a clean sound in the Jazzy Bridge Section. I was feeling a bit Jack White and Eric Clapton on the main grooves. The Feedback guitar sort of Steve Stevens. The Jazzy Bridge reminded me of something Spyo Gyra would pull off. I tried to pump things up before going into the Jazzy Bridge section. A Rockin Pre-Bridge? Kick back into the Punkish Groove, back to the Blues Groove.. well you get the idea. I had to take it all down to electronic Synth work at the end. The fun part is matching up a bunch of loops to a steady groove in the same key.
indeed very strange sound ...
I think Aliens who make music must be friendly people, it's good to know that now ... thx!!
very very interesting track with a strange vibe, catchy!!
man, this riff is awesome ...
love the way you chopped it up along with the double bassdrum figure ... great arrangement!!!
a little short, but on the point ... a real banger!
brilliant work buddy ...
there's not much to say about your music ...
