Hey Rei,man that's the best compliment you could possibly give! :)..we really must do some music together and get some of that fantastic Rei guitar into the mix mate!..I know your a busy family man now though hopefully this new year we can squeeze in a track (or two)..have a wonderful and safe Christmas mate..all the best to your lovely family.... Dave :)
I told you on Soundcloud: it's electronic punk and I love it!! it's pretty hard to produce real minimal, but you make it sound easy ... and rough (hmm, I know that phrase from somewhere ... haha) anyway ... it's a great track!!!
peace, rei
Thanks very much rei! I dig the electronic punk reference. I guess I didn't think of this one as minimal per say, as I used over 40 channels which is far more than my usual composition. The rough part was pretty intentional. I just let the song shape itself, and then relearned it. Thank you for the support!
Paula Cole was my first thought when I heard your voice ... I bet you're a fan, if not, you shortly will be!
She worked with Peter Gabriel, you work with Devodale and Dave, well ... that's equal ... ;-)
Absolute fantastic track!!!!!
Hi Rei4real,
Nice to meet you ;)
I confess I don't know Paula Cole but I'm always happy when I can discover artists thx to Looperbuddies . Thx a lot for your warm words and compliments to Devodale and Dave whose loops made this song .
Peace,
Carole
very emotional, interesting and some kind of "magnetic" ...
I really like this piece, though I don't listen to electronic very much, only to some very alternative bands like The Grassy Knoll (if you don't know them, you should check them out!!!) ...
my only complaint is: make it longer, I couldn't get enough of that atmosphere .... ;-)
amazing voice, but you know that in the meantime I guess ... ;-)
very strong lyrics!!!! impressive ...
but the arrangement, hmmm, let me say it this way: for me it seems to be a very long intro, I was waiting for the song to start ... the part where your rage or your desperation becomes hearable, but nothing happend ... I think this words have so much power, and this should be to feel in this song ... that's what I missed.
I'm no native English speaker, so I hope you can understand what I want to say ... ;-)
wow, very bassy and heavy sounding guitars, great riff!!
though I think they hard on the edge of clipping a little bit, I'm not really sure, but I think so ...
apart from that it's a very cool track!!!
well worth the listen ...
ooh ... that's beautiful man!!!
love that percussive but emotional playing ...
and the very warm atmosphere of the recording, though it's a bit noisy ... but the noise gives a very intimate feeling here.
great great song!!!
I pretty much agree with Mahloo ...
the sound of the guitars is really good so far, the arrangement and the composition are top!!
to your questions: 1. words are clear (I'm no english native speaker but I didn't need the written words to understand the lyrics, so ...), 2. you're not on key a little bit too often, 3. that's a matter of taste I guess, for my personal flavor they're a little bit too loud, yes, but just a little bit, 4. record a couple of different versions, so you get a better feeling for what to do when while singing ...
on the first bar I thought: wow, sounds like John Hiatt ... this feeling stayed throughout the song ...
some very little timing issues here and there, and the vocals are not always in the right key, but in the end this makes this track only authentic and real ... so I think it's perfect as it is!!
Thanks Rei, I really appreciate your comments and your totally right – I'm off beat and key occasionally. The vocals will be replaced – but I'm not sure by whom. I might end up doing it myself again even if I'm not a singer. ;)
I'm really pleased that you like the song, I was going for a popish rock american south touch and I guess I nailed it?
Thanks again for the kind words and the remarks, much appreciated.

wow ... this is very arty ....
very original arrangement, awesome sounds, love that guitar bits of course (great playing btw.) ...
I really enjoyed listening this journey!!!
great ....
pretty nice rock pop track ...
great guitar sounds!!!
some of the transitions could be improved though, like NUADA said ...
the bass riff is awesome ... and again a great sound ...
over all a good track.
mighty fine piece of art of expression ... the fretless bass is in the right hands for sure ... it needs fine ears and a lot of feeling for the tone to get out the best of that instrument, and you have all that attributes and two more: the ability to compose and to arrange the music you feel inside ...
me as the lucky listener is just thankful ... ;-)
Hey Rei,thanks man......I love my new fretless (well actually it's a 1969 Precision with a few modifications)....Betty(that's her name) thanks you very much for enjoying "Her" sound..and says Planetjazzbass just holds her..she does all the work! lol cheers Dave ;)
minimal is a good description ...
and it's minimal as it's best, cause it's a very thought out track, far away from being boring or repetitive ... great sounds, relaxing ...
just one point to criticize: it's far too short!!!
give me more of this .... ;-)
Hello my friend. Thanks for the review. I have some ideas and I'm doing experiences. I worked with loops to have a faster result. I like it. I'm working on a final track, which is not this, but will follow this minimalist line. I hope it is good too. I will try to not be so short .. !!??.. Glad you enjoyed. / VlaRB
man, this sounds very very professional!!!
nothing to criticize here, just something to listen and enjoy ...
perfect all around and simply a brilliant song ...
Thanks so much Rei. It's great to get such kind feedback from a Looperman legend. I hope all is well on your side of the world. Thanks for taking the time to listen and comment.
wonderful harmonies in this beautiful track, that's great!!
I almost thought I'm listening to Paula Cole, and that's amazing ... ;-)
very very good work lady ...
I'm convinced ... ;-)
big is the word that came into my mind first!!!
big sound, big song ...
amazing tone, but that shouldn't surprise me ... more than the tone I love your phrasing, every tone sits perfect and has it's time to develop ... simply awesome music!!!
wish you all the best Randy ...
Thanks friend for reviewing my rock song here. I had hoped I wouldn't disappoint you and apparently I didn't! LOL
This was a fun one to do trying to mimic another guitarist style. I think I came out pretty close.
Big sound comes from sustain using compression, and using a couple guitars in the background. You can hear what's going on by close listening, as I know you do.
Tone comes from choosing the pickup(s) to use...either front or back, or both in some cases....and I use the 'Line 6' vast library of amp sounds/effects avail. And most important is the use of a Metronome or 'click track' while recording. lol
unbelievable ... but I needed 2 years to find this wonderful song!!
I'm totally impressed by your voice ...
don't know if you're still around here on looperman, but if you are hit me up, maybe we could do a real collab some day.
I think that would be interesting!!
Would love to do a collab - Whatever you have in mind - I'm all ears!
I don't really do much in the way of programming - I'm more your vocal/lyric man so whatever hard work you come up with I'll be glad to contribute ;) Thanks for checking me out - been a fan of your stuff for zonks! :)
so mellow, so enjoyable ...
very well produced, the drums are pretty perfect for this track.
and some loops of mine ... well what other could I say than: great work ... ;-)
thx
really great work on those loops!!
it's one thing to use loops as they are, but it's something completely different to tweak and chop them and make them sound completely new, which is what you did ...
great!! thank you ...
