Very beautiful track, wonderful piano and amazing singing. You are very talented. This song reminds me of Samson by Regina Spektor. If you are not familiar with her please look her up. I will be dl'ing this so thank you for sharing!

Well done, this totally rocks Paulo! I hope you find someone to put some vocals down, it's cool the way it is but that would be the cherry on top. Guitars sound awesome, nice tone. Well done, the title deceived me a bit, thought it might be a little more subtle but no, it's in your face, hehe. The little breaks you added are solace enough.

Hey Sean, good to see you popping in here once in a while again. So glad you posted something new, you always seem to make my mind work overtime when I listen. jahknow's Dub Guild, damn, that brings back some good memories from a few years ago on the loop. I see Arkey once in a while here and we ALL miss jahknow's input and presence here.

Are you still using Ableton? I made the switch just over a year ago, worth it in my opinion. The track has moments of psychedelic flashbacks(make it stop) and lots of cool dubby things happening. Sorry for all the technical terms, lol. I listened in my headphones, nice use of the stereo field. The mix sounds pretty clear, well done to both of you.

Hope the radio station gig works out for you. I've stopped in and listened a few times but I haven't caught your show at all. I will have to make it a point to stop over and chat. Hope everyone is fine at home, take care Sean.

I'll have to share the story of the Dub Guild resurrection sometime - pure cosmic convergence episode. Simmerdown even popped up out of the woodwork feeling the pull one afternoon - so weird, that. We're trying to do what jahknow originally planned, which is a collective of like minded artists sharing resources and making available each other's work for remixing purposes. Some really awesome remixes have come out of this in the last few weeks. I'm still using Live 8 with my APC-40 and Axiom-25 keyboard, and can't imagine really working with any other DAW at this stage. My radio show tends to be Dub themed on most weeks, but I'm also doing "peregrinations" where I spend 2 hours just playing music from Africa or inspired by African musical traditions, as well as Asian peregrinations. I've played your "Lost Caravan" on one such peregrination show all ready (fit great for my stop in North Africa)! I'm on Tuesdays at 2PM EST should you find yourself able to swing by sometime. So glad to see you're still around and making awesome music, Wayne. Still look forward to sitting down with you sometime over dungeness crab and comparing life notes!

on Determined by MOONLYTE
Great story behind the song. I love when being faced with a challenge to prove others that I can do something. Being able to express it in a song is an awesome way to let it out. Some of the best songs are about personal issues, it makes them real and people can relate to them on a personal level.

Martin's loops are nice. Not sure if this is punk but it was cool to listen to!

Keep up the good work!

on A CHORD N 2 MIND FLIGHT by FACELESSIWONDER
Nice atmosphere, very relaxed feel you have created here. My first track of the day for me and this is a nice way to get things going. The music is cool and the vocals work pretty good. Maybe some reverb on the mans vocals in the middle of the song just to soften them a bit. I think you put together a cool track, well done.

immense art the grattitude for the time taken of listen and smooth review..also many thanx for the audio pointer, as please try another listen if you will to see how this updated version flows. indeed many thanx again, as in the day many realms of thought will venture one into many trials to pitt against stress, pains, agitations and insanity as in my book of views a note of music can truly calm the soul and turn a day of mental combat into one of joyous peace ...may peace be at your beckon .....chill!!!!!

This is a cool unexpected collab. I think the music rocks and is very cool industrial sounding track by itself. I must say Pat that your vocals are great here. I liked the backups, cool delay you used. Cool effects on all the vocals and they work great with the music.

Well done both of you, very cool collab!

Thanks so much Wayne! It's always good to get a review from you! I respect the fact that you are open to just about any sort of music, it's important especially being a musician yourself. I'm trying to become much more spontaneous with my song creation and my vocals, and the vocals on this were a bit of a transition I guess. I'm glad they sounded okay anyway. Thanks again!

Thanks allot, Wayne. I'm glad you find the sound quality ok. I finished writing my description, but you pretty much nailed what was going on in my head. When I do these retro tracks, I also like to use that aggressive panning like they did back in the day.

Cheers,

I like the pace and relaxed vibe going on here. For an older recording, it sounds pretty good, no complaints here. The Middle Eastern sounding parts fit well with the rest of the song. Compliments on putting this together, very cool man!

Hello, hello.

"For an older recording, it sounds pretty good"

As I've written elsewhere, this sounds way better than other stuff I was doing back in 2001. Not necessarily better ideas or playing - just a cleaner, more powerful sound that still sounds good on crap laptop speakers with no bass. I'm actually still trying to figure out quite why it all sounds so good.

But one definite criticism I have is of that main drum loop (the first one you hear, out of which I could make 10,000 tracks). It's a bit too bright and loud in the mix. But I guess that's OK - not everything has to be perfect (whatever that exactly is) and this gives the track a bit of crunch and a bit of an edge.

Because of the slightly odd, eclectic and lazy way I work with my instruments and parts, my stuff always retains some rough edges and character rather than all being too clean and smooth. That's probably a good thing though I do work hard to get everything as neat as I can. But some of the roughness is in the playing, layering and effecting. I do like some little rough edges and a bit of grit. But no too much - I'm certainly no lo-fi kind of guy.

"The Middle Eastern sounding parts fit well with the rest of the song"

Yes - it's a hardly a full-on Middle Eastern track but I never do that as I don't know how. It's just one of the many flavours I add to my stuff when it manages to come out as I'm fiddling about on instruments and with synth sounds.

Thanks for checking it out. As already said - it may well be my best ever track though I'm more than happy for other people to have alternate favourites (I have a lot of stuff).

I like the staccato and single hits to intro the song. It caught me a bit off guard when the guitars kicked in. I liked the transition, really made the track interesting. I was getting into it and it stopped, wished it was longer. I will hit play again, thanks for sharing.

on Funky Stuff - Added Vocals by Tatiacha
Cool groove, funky and upbeat. I would really like to hear some more vocals through the song, the way it is composed opens up that possibility. I thought the vocal parts you added worked pretty good though, fun ending. Nice use of the loops.

It's funny how songs come together sometimes, each song has a story. To me that is the fun in making music, the surprise in how it all comes together.

This was cool to listen to. I was listening to something completely different as far as tone and atmosphere and then this hit me. Pretty cool stuff. I was waiting for the drums to kick in at some point but it never happened. That's ok, I enjoyed it all the same.

Thanks,

The music builds up great at the beginning and the guitars add so much. Overall it rocks! The one thing I would work on is getting the vox out front a little more. Towards the end you sing louder and it is much better but it sounded to me that you could boost the earlier vocals a bit, they were a bit lost in the guitars and drums. Cool track though, I liked it!

on I Know You by MisterCH
I think it is great that you can write a song for your friend and express it by recording it. The reverb you have on the singing is interesting, as long as you like it that is all that matters. Maybe some compression might help the acoustic guitar and drums to stand out a little more, it will give them a bit of punch. It's a catchy song, I like it.
