I would suggest to keep working it out till you feel more sure of it, hopefully with the response you're getting you should be feeling good about it. I think with a vocal melody you can then add, remove, change anything that might need to be adjusted to it. I often add an instrument to help compliment the vocal track in some way, like a response to the vocal in the form of a guitar lick, piano or pad... You have the guitar, piano/keys already so a singer may be able to fit the singing with what you've already have recorded. Good luck!

I do like what you were doing during the bridges, were you finger tapping the strings on the neck of the guitar or picking it? They were good changes that lead to built up guitar expressions that sounded pretty damn good if you ask me! Let it all out Evan, Hell Yeah!!

Summer has kept me a bit busy. I've taken up bass fishing, which has become an unhealthy addiction.
Bridges were picked on an acoustic with my fingernail. They are very short, but I write nearly every riff fingerstyle on an acoustic, then assign lines to different roles. I've never gotten into tapping.

for the genre, i wasn't sure! at the beginning, i wanted to make a disco track and the bass line is oriented like this but and you wrote it, the others instruments took me far away from my first purpose... so what genre is it? i don't know! easy listening may be? :)

I too enjoy songs with a political edge, especially when compared to all of the questionable political items present on social media platforms. At least when it comes to music, and looperman specifically, when someone disagrees or is offended it will usually lead to a responsible discussion. So often when I make my views obvious elsewhere, there is an instant reaction of paid political shills, fake news, and questioning of my understanding of scientific method. Life in Amerikkka I guess.
Art and music seems like one of the few hopes for getting messages across which would otherwise be met with defensiveness. Even if I intend an album to lack political objects, it still creeps through. I suppose the only ways to avoid this would be to burn my microphones or start taking the medication again. ;)

You can't imagine how many times i had to record these simple melodies and how much time had to cut and edit them in my daw, lol.. I'm the worst guitar player ever (right after Lil Wayne of curse, but he is disqualified for this title :D) and need a few years for improve this to an acceptable level. :)

Neat track. Mix sounds pretty clear, sounded good. Kept stopping during playback, not sure why, my internet connection, site updates, i dunno. Good trippy stoner music...man. he Like others mentioned I liked the piano intro too, nice buildup. Familiar style and instrument choices that separates your music from others.
Good music to listen to when I do a painting to or a chore, rhythmic and abstract and interesting to let the mind wander. World music sorta, kinda, a bit...

I agree. Kind of dark and far out. Maybe a little like world music. It's got some edge and mystical elements that are hard to place. A slightly unsettling vibe but all held together by tight, fat grooves.

I give people a lot of credit who use loops and can create real interesting and unique pieces of music out of them. I thought the track was as good as any other electronic or loop based songs here. I'm not well versed in dance music so I can't get all technical with you about that but I thought this was pretty good. Sounds like something I would hear in an 80's Eddie Murphy movie, it has a cinematic aspect to it, in my opinion.

I've been down my friends house recording his band live a few times. His room is an echo chamber so the drums are big and lost, they sound awful when we record them. We use a set of mics designed for the small kit using 3 mics, one at the kick, one under the ride/above floor tom, one near the snare/hihat/crash. How important to you is making the rehearsal space sound proofed and a bit dead sounding to get the drums better? Any help would be appreciated!

I also believe that this song has a "90s commercial" taste but I cannot point a specific song.
Regarding how to record, I'll send you a PM with my contacts if you want to get more details.
I also recorded the drums with 3 mics only and in these cases the "room sound" makes a huge difference: you can get good results only if the drums have a good "live sound". This mic configuration captures what you are hearing and it's hard to improve this.

I like the idea and feel of the song. There is something to this idea. I often tend to do a lot of shorter compositions by taking an interesting idea and doing a 1-2 min musical treatment rather than a full length track. It keeps from repeating loops and musical phrases, I can add leads, pads, rhythm instruments just like any long song and the listener can get in and out quickly and hear interesting things all through the short but full production song. Plus you don't spend hours mixing many verses and chorus parts, bridges and all that and get all the benefits of learning production skills as you do it. I feel maybe if you took this approach here it might benefit the idea. Take the cool riffs and changes, sounds and any midi instruments and effects and rearrange it but shorten it up. Just my 2 cents. :)
