You are one of the big talents here, this shows why.
I do music/lyrics that please me and make me happy. I let it happen as the song dictates and I get a huge rush out of it. It's like meditation, I don't force it and therefore I enjoy it and so it comes from the heart. You are so talented, just do it for yourself and it will happen much easier and with less stress. Great job Patricia!
Feels like I'm back in 1979, rollerskating and listening to hits of the day. This has the upbeat feel of the Bee Gees music from that time and a lot of the r n b and disco music then too. nice production, big sound!
Hey Wayne, thank you for listening and the flowers. Barry Gibb, really? Like "How Deep Is Your Love"? I guess that's too much of honour ... ;–)
Michael
This one really touches the heartstrings and plucks at the deep consciousness within all of us. I think I read that off a Hallmark card once, he. So pretty and delicate at times. The piano is wonderful. Thanks for the trip I just went on!
First I must mention the description made me laugh. The bass is cool, not overwhelming but punchy and deep. Minimal approach, lots of sound bites. Interesting for sure. Worth another round, I mean listen.
Hi Wayne thanks for comment i think the overall effect of the track was a feeling of dread perhaps all this covid 19 is getting to me ill be glad when its all back to normal. Best regards Robbie.
The keys are just awesome! So is the track actually, he. To me the track has a a jazz and rnb feel to it with spoken word over it. Certainly it's creatively put together, not something I could ever think of, that's for sure.
Hello Wayne,
Thanks for your compliment on the keys,
I'm playing them (keys), I use my controller and Ablelton live VST's for all instruments except the druns and the spoken word. I've been trying really hard to play the sounds I hear in my head, genre is not on my radar. I'm sure someone will get all philisophical and say; No genre is a genre... LOL
Well done! It's pop and I've always liked pop music. Good singing, neat song, catchy. Even though I don't understand the words, the feeling is there and so is the emotion, you conveyed your message to me clearly.
This is good man! Kinda folk rock in nature but I think rock is good. I'll drink to this song! Spontaneity can bring out the best songs in my opinion, whether you remember recording them or not, he.
Neat track Doc, the vox surprised me, a lower ranged male voice wasn't what I was expecting but it works fine. I like the intro. Plenty of cool bits, synths, percussion and the gits are well played.
Makes me feel like I'm back in the 70's. To me it sounds like a song that should be in one of the Rocky movies or a film from that time period.
I think it's decent all around. The song has a certain feel and mood that you captured, a bit sad, dark, mysterious, almost a longing for something. I wouldn't worry about uploading your vocals in English, the language you feel comfortable singing is fine to upload here. I think the English singing was really good, better than some who speak english on the site, ha!
Whoa! This is great! Used to listen to a reggae radio show every day home from work. They played all offshoot genres of reggae with tracks similar to this. Great vocal track, great production on the track on all levels. Very cool!
Thank you so much! I never really listened to this type of music before, but of course was aware of it and thought it was interesting. I listen to more straight up Reggae on occasion though. If you are interested, the updated version is on Soundcloud. (link in one of the comments below). Thanks for taking the time to listen and comment, I appreciate it.
Loved it Patricia! This is quite the production and I love the humor in it. The orchestration really sets this one apart from other songs I hear on the loop.
I really like the feel of the song, reminds me of late 80's new wave bands. I think the vocals could use a little bit more reverb to have them sit in the mix a little better, they stand out rather than sit in the mix. Just my opinion. Other than that I think you have something really good here!
Thanks a lot for your words Wayne.
I tested some more reverb on the vocals before uploading but in a way i didn't liked it that much. So i reduced it more and more and this is what comes close to what i liked :)
Maybe it is because my focus was/is more on the poem then on the track itself ..... I should look for someone from outside to do a mix, maybe others are not that deep into my interpretation of things.
This is a cool listen and the mix is great! Nice soundscape, makes my mind wander. World music/new age music is how I would describe this. It brings the listener on a journey which is what you want the listener to experience.
Well done and good to see a name from yesteryear on the loop!
Love the skip beat, wish it changed up a little bit in subtle ways like adjust the hi hat hits to break them up a bit, little things. Other than that i dig the idea. The guitars are very cool, sound great in the mix. The heavily fx part at the end was fantastic! Great producing, well done!
I will suggest to listen to Drunken Angel by Lucinda Williams for inspiration for the vox. This song is quite like that one in the feeling of it, structure, instruments.... but her vocals are what i want to stress. Plus the story of Blaze Foley is sad.
Once it started, all I could think of was Steely Dan, brought me back a few years. Cool to hear the band got back together, sorta. Now you know you can do it, nothing is stopping you to keep the hits coming.
The ability we have now to work remotely is fantastic. I've done a bunch of collabs with people from all over the world that I've met here on looperman and some with people who speak different languages(thanks google translate).
Hello Wayne,
Perhaps one day I could get the opportunity to jam/collaborate with you. You've got a killer live sound. Your tracks sound like you're right in the room jammin.
Thanks for the listen & comment
PEACE...
Gotta give the vocalist credit and a hot cup of tea with lemon in it after that performance. Don't hear this everyday on looperman. Get all your metal friends to join and upload tracks please. he
Great playing, nice musical idea, full of emotion. I am the same way about my tracks, if it sounds real and honest, a few "untidy"bits of playing are totally acceptable. To me that is what lacks in today's electronic music, the human factor.
Big sounding piano, a bit distorted though. Maybe lower either the overall track volume or adjust the compression to get the level down a bit.
Many thanks for the feedback Wayne - yes I agree, I hear too much music that sounds so mechanical and soulless. It does distort in the loud section you're right - I'm not great at mixing and mastering tbh - but I'll def try lowering the levels for a cleaner sound - cheers, Anna-Marie
Different, cool, interesting and well put together. Everything music is supposed to be. To me it has a dub/reggae feel to it, if you had pushed it more in that direction it could take on a whole new personality. Maybe even a transition(s) within the song from trap to reggae and back.
Thanks, Wayne! I appreciate your comment very much. Your reggae idea is an excellent one. When I'm messing with a vocal and trying out different trap tracks, or just beats, to it, it's kinda like, first come first serve. I find that I'll often use the first beat I try cuz it sounds good and then pretty soon you're just deep into it. I like your reggae idea and just may play around with it. Or you could too, if you so desire, since the 'pella is on this insanely wonderful site.
Here is a band called the Hu from Mongolia. They play old traditional instruments mixed with newer ones in a unique blend of modern music. Quite different from the rapper you used. I do appreciate your effort to bring your interpretation here to listen to.
Dear Friend, thank you for your comment. In fact, in this period I am looking for new and experimental sounds to obtain effects of strangeness and alienity linked to the Lovecraftian themes that inspire my music. I am really happy that you liked the result of my efforts. Best wishes
Solid track for the dance floor. I'm not into electronic music much but this has all the basic sensibilities of a decent track. The vox are great. To me the kick lacks a bit of low end or boom, plenty of mids in it though. All round cool track man!
believe it or not, this track wasn't born to be danced in a disco haha. If you listen to it well, you will find that the track starts as a mix between Offspring (bass line), Planet Funk (drums) and Muse (electronic support elements). Slowly, in the course, the more "dance" elements came in, up to the central part, with the saw resting on real drums, as if to remember "Myxomatosis" by Radiohead. The kick is deliberately "choked", so it represents a halfway between a real drum kick and an electronic one of dance music. Let's say I had a lot of fun mixing things that would hardly be together on a commercial track!
Must agree, the piano sounds solid. I'm not impressed with many piano vst's but keys/organs are a different story, many cool ones out there. Good movie music, cinematic. Nice production, solid track.
