I played trumped in junior high but that was a mistake. Now I play loops.
I generally orchestrate the music from looperman loops using Audacity, a free open source music editing app. I enjoy this process a lot and the songs usually just emerge out of the music; you start building a groove, listening to it over and over, and you start hearing a melody, then there's a line, then a verse, then a chorus; it's so much easier this way than trying to write staring at a blank sheet of paper. I generally record (when I'm doing my own vocals; others' vocals I record in a studio) in my noisy living/dining room using a Blue Snowball Ice microphone which is small but effective. I master (extremely frequently) using the online LANDR service; pay an annual fee and then it's all you can eat.
The 1970s. Reliving it all - and living a lot of it for the first time - on YouTube, that amazing time machine.
Too many, too many.
Musically? Lordy - hundreds; too many to list but concentrated around the '70s, since that's when I grew up. Politically? Lincoln, MLK, Bobby Kennedy. Emotionally? My kids and grandkids.
Music.
I am a marketing writer but currently in a slow state of reset.
