A little Pink Floyd, a lost memory of a childhood trip to the planetarium, a dream where you can't run fast and "they" are catching up to you at every corner...
Honestly, I'd pump up the volume a little more on the mix, my only suggestion.
Very cool track man, great job on the vox! I like the idea, it's not overproduced and I think it will appeal to people across many genres.
To me, it's a little bass heavy as far as eq, i have old ears that ring so take that comment into account. ;) Maybe try a snappier kick and some more highs in the vocals. I have a low voice and I have to push the highs on the eq and filter off some of my lows because they interfere with the kick and bass tracks. Your vox track has similar qualities to my vocals.
I hope danke can add to the track, he's talented, can't wait for an update!
Mix could use a little work, maybe a little more reverb on the vox to help them sit in the mix a bit more, they come through hot in a few spots but sung with emotion and from the heart. Well done!
This isn't that bad. I think the vocals could come up in the mix, making them a bit clearer.
I don't think it's weird at all. It falls under one of the electronic music genres listed here, don't ask me which one as it all sounds the same to me. But honestly, this is better than most of the same repetitive crap posted here daily.
hey Wayne
Thanks for the feedback much appreciated - electronic is such a broad term these days don't you think? I did deliberately keep the vocal down as it was essentially and instrumental at first, but I'll try it up higher - thanks again

Definitely not sweating here! I do live in the woods next to some swamp land, that's close enough to a bayou right? No mosquitoes this time of year, thankfully. As long as I don't hear banjos all is good ;) MMmmm nutra rat leg, my favorite! Do these tunes give you flashbacks to your bayou days? Oh I'm having so much fun it should be illegal!!LOL! I'm collecting license plates from all 50 states to make a license plate guitar for each state, got about half of them with more on the way. I'll even record a tune on each. Such simple expressive instruments it's pretty hard not to get a soulful sound out of them, regardless of what some may say. I'm trying to get some recordings in while it's cold, and before I have to start working outside making stock for the upcoming festival this summer. My shop is tiny!
Always a pleasure Wayne :D Watch out those mosquito swarms don't carry you off, listen for banjos too, RUN if you hear them!!
Nice laid back groove. Love the summer vibe. I was walking the beach this morning waiting for the summer sun and heat to get in in the summer swing but this track will do till then, thanks! Nice even mix!
Ah! Very cool! Dig the bass line instantly. The gits are proper(shout out to the player) and played well, the horns are a nice touch as well, accents that make a different.
Groovy feel, upbeat and well put together, i can appreciate your ears!!
Cool track, well produced, fun, timeless. Lots of breathing room in the mix, not over compressed leaving the instruments to have their space in the mix.
Something I could hear in a movie set in the roaring '20's in America.
Very pretty song and a quality mix as well. We all have our own interpretation of how someone else's song should be mixed as we listen, that's why we are here, to listen and learn and suggest. You have a musical sensibility I respect.
Cru mentioned dreamy and I agree with that. The drums remind me of a clock ticking, in my mind depicting a passage of time almost like when you are daydreaming when you are driving your vehicle and you come to your senses about a half mile down the road. Shocked and a little dazed, you find yourself wondering how much time passed while you were in your little self absorbed trance. ha
Title and description are poignant, crazy times we live in. Music like this is calming and centering. Well done!
Cool vox and the bass is sounding nice in my headphones. The idea is solid, I agree with TuneDef, a few changes could help the track. The repeating melody in my left ear could be changed up a bit to bring something new, a different texture, melody.
I worked in the deep south in Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana... during the hot dog days of summer splicing fiber optic cable in the swamps and bayous, city and backwater towns and this just brings me back to those days of working on the railroad tracks sweating my ass off and always hearing this playing, no matter where I went, ha!
Hey Wayne :D I remember that story on my first swamp tune a few years ago. Never been that far south but the wife's got the woodstove going making it feel hot enough!! It's when you hear banjos you have to worry LOL!!! I mentioned Gitty Gang Show in the description, that's very much like the old show Hee Haw except it's all homemade instruments and indie artists similar to here on looperman, just more country/folk/roots music oriented. I had been just sittin and pickin most of the day taking it easy and thought hey I'll make another video, they like the others :D Well, they really liked this one. How did you deal with the mosquitoes, a flame thrower? Good to see alot of you guys still hanging here. if you haven't put it together, used to use phatkatz4 or Rob Serling ;) ;)
Like a scene out of a movie. Cool dark themed atmosphere you've created, dig the train, the keys and beeps are ok. Are they on the same recording as the train? I wouldn't mind hearing the track without those as a comparison with them in it. Might not imply as much to the listener.
Hand wound/reversed wound pickups have a unique sound, very cool to hear you are doing that. Waxing them too or too much work?
Neat track, different and long enough to get the idea across.
I recorded the train many times behind that bank. I can probably cut those sounds, I'll see. After a long break I've been back at. Came across this fun little recording and thought to share it here. I have a small crock pot I wax pot my pups in. The hardest part is waiting for the wax to liquefy! Modified sewing machine for a winder. This guitar has a production 6 pole, it was one of my first builds, and my favorite.I'll be recording more with guitars equipped with my own pups. Walking Dead is one, kinda a rough recording/playing on that one. On my amp they're fine but direct to the computer they tend to feedback. I'm making the traditional pole style pups now, but I'm going to experiment with flatpup humbuckers, a real big thing right now in the homemade instrument scene. Over the summer I was invited to show at Maine Luthier showcase, The guy that taught me and I demonstrated pick up winding, I did the traditional style, he did flat pups. Here's a video from there. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qJq9Tr7IgCU That's my table in the beginning :D Fat Knuckle Freddy is a local performer and incredibly nice guy. Tom Dube runs a guitar shop and sells cbgs made by Marty - Maine Made Cbgs the guy winding/playing the didley bow.
I agree with Dan, I think some vocals, maybe even a a capella from the site, could bring this song some more life. It would also help to bring down the instruments to a level where they would support the vocals in the mix, right now the instruments are out front setting the stage. Which is ok. The break in the middle where the instruments are softer is kinda what I mean, the vox could sit on top of that nicely.
Loved it right from the get g!. Upbeat and fun to listen to. Very surprised there haven't been any takers on this one up to this point.
I used to drive home from work and listen to a great reggae show(and it's genre offshoots) on a radio station in Boston. I used to bounce around in my seat listening to music like this and looked forward to my hour long ride home.
Nice mix, clear and I can understand the vocals clearly. You have a hidden talent singing this kind of music, ;). I want to hear a sub bass in there somewhere, even if it's simple whole notes, something to shake the walls a bit.
It's great to hear from you Wayne. I listened to and enjoyed something of yours in the last few days but did not think to comment. I remember being impressed and inspired by the fact of people like yourself actually playing and recording real instruments. Still nothing can compare.
I pushed hard to the end on this one and felt it sort of sat okay without too much in the weeds mixing. i'm glad for your confirmation. there is always something else, something different we can do. Best wishes - Dan
Cinematic/ambient, certainly interesting. This type of music puts my mind on a musical journey, traveling through exotic terrains and distant lands. Nice texture and I like the static in my left speaker that pops up earlier on. Could be used in a film based in space, the future perhaps.
Ahhh, something you don't hear a lot of on the loop, ripping power chords and angry drums, nice! I sure would like to hear this with some vox, the cherry on top!
Wayne,
Good to see you old fried and TYVM.
Yes pets become surrogate children to their owners.
As far as getting a puppy, we have worked with an animal rescue in the area for 7 years and a mixed 3 yr old dog we have fostered (her name is Panda because of her black and white markings) will be staying with us permanently. She has been a handful and is a little like TNT mixed with enriched uranium lol...she's nuts and strong but only about 18" tall. But she has a heart of gold and loves me/obsessed with me. She's home now.
Mark.
Ya know, I've never used any of his loops either which is a shame because I'm sure he has some stuff that would work in my music as well. As you used quite a few different uploader's loops I can only assume the best one's are Joes, ;)!
Mix sounds good. Not sure what trap is supposed to sound like but the idea has some power to it and some crazy changes that make it interesting.
Hmm. But you can play guitar... Thats a lot better skill than playing with loops. :)
Thank you! Was lucky with these loops - i think the genre is "easy", there is tons of trap loops with excellent sound quality on the site. "Analogue" music is a lot harder and less common...
Cool track, fun and upbeat. Sounds like something made in Florida, has that southern feel to it....and mentions guns, ha! My opinion it's a bit over compressed causing everything to be at the same level in the mix, leaving no depth in the song and a little fatiguing on the ears but in saying that it's a very well put together song and a great effort by all the musicians and participants in the track.
