Cool! Made me smile from the get go. Sure, that genre sums it up. Sounds like the gang showed up for an ultra jam and had fun. Don't get much musical diversity here so this is soooo welcomed. There was a guy here named jfw who did a lot of Steely Dan styled jazz and some interesting music. A lot to absorb, gave it a couple listens, fun!
Hey Richie, been a while, good to see you! I like the song, good pop song, calming. I like her vocals, soulful. Kinda reminds me of some of Paul Weller's material from a few years ago.
Hi Wayne. Nice to see a familiar face. Yes it's been a while but it's great to be back. Thanks for the comments. Much appreciated. Hope you are well. Keep safe.
A little P Funk groove, very upbeat, fun! So many cool things here, I liked the vocal? treatment at about 1:50, sound like you manipulated some vox there. Nice mix too!
Cool track! I agree with Patricia, the mix puts you in a live venue. Man can she sing. The music works so well with her singing too. Well done to both of you!
Nice chord changes first of all. Nice vocal track, as usual. I do especially like the change at the end, picking it up the with the horns gives a nice lift to the track, well done!
What a nice song Patricia! I like songs that have vocal phrasings like yeah, yeah, yeah's, ooo la la's, and like you did here. Songs with these types of lyrical hooks commonly get quite popular as far as the billboard charts go. Who doesn't like to sing along to songs with these hooks in them?
Hey there Wayne.
I'm sorry, sometimes I do not do very well keeping up with all the comments. :-(
I think I have decided, between last year and this year,
that pop is a very "corny" genre with "corny" lyrical gymnastics and shenanigans, the more "corny" the more catchy. Lol
My grandchildren have adopted this one. lol
We tell ourselves it's "corny" and we hate it,
but find ourselves humming or singing it.
If any of that makes sense! Haha
Thank you Wayne! :-)
I like the deep bass, the snap of the snare and the overall feel of the music. Reminds me of acid jazz, Mushroom Jazz cd's. The vox sit in there nicely, the delivery and cadence are a cool opposition to the music, one is in your face and rigid while the other is laidback and a bit trippy. I used to listen to this styled music while watercolor painting, put a cd in and hit repeat, it really helped me focus on the painting.
You do a fine job with the mixing Patricia! The music is cool and open for vocals but having a great lead vocal plus background singing too always adds so much to an instrumental. Lyrics are catchy and the music has some catchy bits as well. Well done to both of you on the collab!
I saw the Strummer Clash at the Worcester Centrum, now called the DCU Center in Worcester, Massachusetts. A band called the Blackjacks from Boston opened up for them. We used to go see the Blackjacks when we had a chance. And actually the friend I went to see that show with had a brother who was the drummer in a Boston band called La Peste who was originally supposed to tour with the Clash on that tour but the singer left the band and went solo. They were bigger than the Cars in Boston at that time.
Check these guys out, I think you will like both of these bands.
Sorry for being late to the party, I threw my back out and was out of commission for about a week. The piece gives me the feeling of a passage of time, indecision and uncertainty. Nice sounds, cool effects and a neat idea!
Too Bad they don't have the "Cool" genre because that's what this would fall under! Fun upbeat song, has a summer feel to it.
I saw the Joe Strummer version of the Clash after they split up but never saw Mick's Bad, wish I had. These songs bring me back to when I was in college and just after, such a fun time of my life and this music was apart of it. Thanks again for putting these together!
Where did you see the Clash 2 do you remember ?
I missed BAD in 89 but finally saw them twice in 2011
That's was great !
Thx for the feedback and yes during that strange period a summer track is one of the thing we need !
Has some nice acoustic and percussion sounds that I personally think go very well with the vocal approach and mixing. Not complicated, open, wide mix and it will appeal across many genres with how it's produced.
Hey Patricia, good to see ya! I love everything about this, the music is interesting, soothing and the sax is splendid and the piano is perfect! I've always enjoyed your vocals and the harmonies are soooo good! Such a wonderful collab!
Cool track, the singing reminds me a bit of the band Roxette. I like the drums popping out in the mix, impactful. I think the vox could come up a smidge but the idea is solid and catchy.
You're right about the power of Lauren's voice, but there are 2 "snags" on her recording which forced me to lower her track a bit to avoid being noticed too much !! with more time (and courage) I could have done it, but hey it's a draft and at the price I am paid, it's already not so bad (smile)!
Michel
I love the simplicity in music. We don't usually hear autoharp much so it's certainly welcomed. You voice works well with the feeling and mood of the song and the words are meaningful and strong. Real. Honest. Music.
Great sax! And there is some neat and cool little musical tidbits to check out as the song progresses. Your singing fits so good with the music, it sits well in the mix.
Love the vibe of the track, a laid back sorta r n b/pop song that is as good as anything on the radio right now. With the exceptional music track matching up with Patricia's vocal track, how can you go wrong? I also hear a little touch of some jazzy Steely Dan in there.
Good contrast from the verse and the chorus, nice dynamics. You guys must have a few albums worth of material by now. Are you sending them out to record labels or promoting them other than internet music sites?
My friend who heads up an Americana styled band plays this song live, really surprised it showed up on looperman. I like your version, it's honest and real. The drums and tambo add just the right amount of musical impact. The ticking clock is apropos.
Nice mid tempo song, another solid track. Kinda reminds me of Heart in some way if you mashed Nancy Wilson's voice with the singer of Concrete Blonde, Johnette Napolitano's voice. Well done!
Feels like I'm watching Endless Summer, that old surf movie. The sun is setting over the water, surfboard is in the sand next to me, hanging with my buds and chillin'.
That piano is so badass! It's like an earthquake tremor that rolls on and on. Great dynamics, you guys are pretty tight. You should give these tracks more credit, they aren't as bad as you describe them. It's live as well. :) Plus it sounds like the crowd enjoyed it!
