Anther great track with atmospherics - in a word "Intense" - great work.

Everytime I think that "When Hippos sing with Frogs" is my most intense track, I remember this one. Definitely another one of my music "essence" pieces, my greatest worry was it going too far. Glad it worked for you. Cheers!

Great work. It's my opinion that there is not enough of this ( culturally diverse ) type of work on looperman - it enhances and hopefully expands our understanding of other musical forms and dialects.

on Johnny Boston - Bad Sign (feat. Brad Sucks) by JohnnyBoston
This is an unusual track, in that not a great deal of music ( of any genre ) on Looperman carries male vocals. I think they are good vocals and well recorded - nice work.

Nice dark theme to this one. I like the digression into an ambient hall with voices - good stuff.

Super track. I love the clarity of the mix great crisp drums and bass line. I love the way your wife recites and is answered by the synth line - downloading & faving.

Thank you very much for your comments! I was unsure about the mix, but it seems to be getting a good response, so that makes me happy. It was really cool hearing my wife's words fit right into this track. Thank you very much for the fave!

on Rock Tha Hip Hop Nation ruff1 by victormusic01x
This is a great mix. Great use of various loops, they really work well and compliment each other. I love the rhodes sound and slightly distorted guitar. The real surprise is the use of an african guitar riff, this is very unusual and causes a genre collision that nevertheless works really well and adds an unexpected twist - great stuff.

on Time by miots
Whats with all these unknown users checking out your track? - you appear to be attracting a shy type of listener. I realy enjoyed this lovely number. The acoustic guitar work is excellent and nicely balanced with the piano. If I have one minor criticism it is the slightly discordant part ( you will know the part I mean ) I think fixing that would make it perfect - great work, downloading & faving.

Interesting space rock piece. I think some operatic loop voice overs would work well with this - nice work.

Thanks for the review, jfw. I'm with you on the operatic voice loops. Do you have any ideas of where I can get my hands on some good classical voice loops? I have been looking but have not had much luck. Thanks again. Kper

I used exactly the same long organ loop that you started this with on my track "Logarythms". It's strange to see the very different results different people achieve with the same building blocks. - Good stuff.

I listened to your track and the styles are indeed poles apart - it's great to be able to take a sample/sound and construct such different tracks - cheers mate

Nice piece - sounds like some of the metal guys that were around in the 80's like Tony McAlpine etc. Did you get a drummer to do the drums? they are really crisp and tight.

Thanks jfw. O must say that I've programmed the drums though :)

Manic punkoid skinbashing stuff - reminds me a little of DEVO - Ahh delightful...

Cool man, to be compared to such a band as Devo is truly a compliment! Devo were my childhood favorites, I put them on the same pedestal as Kraftwerk and Rammstein! Kudos dude, I dont think anyone has ever called my music "delightful"...

Another cracking track. Erstwhile french president Jaques Chirac was once quoted as saying " When we build a road, do we consult the frogs"? In this case, it seems we do! I love the drum outro as the frogs hold conclave.
n0mad23
n0mad23 replied Unknown
Thanks jfw! I'm always uncertain about trying to fuse field recordings with music, but the Frog Totem here really needed to be grounded in the physical. I'm in agreement re: the drum outro, and there's something rather satisfying about letting the voices from nature have the last "words". Cheers.

on I Love My Mom by JHolmes
Oboes are indeed fascinating and the people who play them more fascinating still. Who would deliberately select an instrument that looks like a huge elephants trunk with a chrome doodad stuck on the side of it? It's good to see that someone out there is experimenting with such sounds - good stuff.
JHolmes
JHolmes replied Unknown
You typically only have a single oboe in an orchestra, 'cause you can *always* hear them when they play. So, naturally, I used two.

Now I really want to learn to play one. There's something about playing "an elephant's trunk with a chrome doodad" that just seems like something I'd do.

on day dreaming 2 by Bottleofchris
I like this a lot. The chord progression reminds me of 1980's jazz funk. I think this would benefit from either a vocal, sax or flute line and maybe a middle eight just to take it somewhere else briefly - good stuff.
