A very unusual and atmospheric tech track! I like it much! Reminds me of when I used to listen to a lot of DJ sets. Nice style of rhythms on this one too! I enjoyed listening!
Thanks a lot for your time listening to this weirdness. I really wanted to let the creativity go freely on this one, and it was fun. I still want to make some slight modifications though, a few parts don't seem right to me.
I've been wanting to do some trancestep sort of thing lately too, so it's nice to hear something like this! Uplifting intro for sure, and then the beat hits very nicely! Sweetness in the arpeggio! Very avant garde use of wobbles here, you nailed it! If you don't mind me asking, what tempo is this? Great sounding transitions throughout the song! I'm thoroughly impressed! Faved for sure!
Nice nice spivkurl ;) thanks for the comment, might surprise you but it is a standard 140 bpm but I made the arpeggio to fit with it, I am very glad you liked it and I really appreciate your comment
It's always a pleasure to listen to your works! I have to be honest, aside from You, Amethyst To Turquoise, jazz, and the occasional goa trance I'm not much into long songs, but you're in the list! For me the best thing about this song, and many of your songs in general is how you create a space for the "band" to exist in, like an atmosphere that suggests reality. This is definitely a tight track! I really enjoyed the part around 5:40 or so, but I guess I'm like very into software distortion and amp sims and stuff like that! Your use of delay throughout the song is subtle, professional, and yet a little bit dubby too. Your playing and editing skills are definitely on display! I dig it! Faved for sure!
Word up, Monsieur Kurl. I just tried looking Amethyst To Turquoise up but mostly found jewellery links. Then I found a Facebook page of some ambient artist with that name so that's go to be it!
Yeah, I guess maybe you're trying to say this sounds a bit like a live band who are playing in front of some ambient bed or vibe. I think I know what you mean. Ozric Tentacles (best space rock band ever) are wonderful at that. Used to have two synth players, one pretty much permanently on atmospheres that the band would play the actual constructed song over (other synth player was guitarist who would come off guitar to do awesome synth solos).
There's not actually much ambient bed stuff here (mostly shimmering stuff in first 2 mins) as guitar, banjo, drums and bass guitar do most of the work.
But, delay helps take the place of ambient pads, which I don't use as much as you might think or expect (I love em but they can take up too much space). Quite often it's just heavily delayed guitar parts. And I do control the feedback on the delay, a bit like in dub.
Yes, around 5:35 is maybe my favourite bit. Bit like simple verse-chorus-verse grunge there (eg Nirvana's Lithium) where you just take the same riff, step on your distortion pedal and the drummer moves to his crash cymbals or open hihat. I like the new guitar parts that it goes into on 6:00 after the drums come back down from those cymbals.
I've got a slightly better version of this which I'm yet to upload. All the same, check the full Soundcloud version as a lot of my favourite stuff happens after about 11 mins.
Hey, good to have you back! Awesome rhythms on this track! You always did make inspiring stuff! My wife said the vocalish atmospheres sound like something from Primus, and I'd have to agree. Nice dark feel! Great work!
I like your slightly lo fi but up to date take on this classic! The guitar and vocals are both quite good! Very interesting rhythms, but they totally work! Jammin cover!
Thanks for mentioning the beeps :) I got mixed feelings on them, looking back I think I over used them and should of kept them for just before the chorus comes in.
This has a really classic sound to it! You should be proud of this especially considering it's mostly VST! You used the right blend of instruments for the theme of the song! The organ is real nice, and you played it well! I don't hear much good reggae anymore, but you nailed it! Faved for sure!
Definitely a little on the trance side, but that's good! You did a good job incorporating half time sort of beats from dub. Very nice sounding arpeggios! Uplifting vibes! I like it much!
I've never heard a song like this before! It's very intense, and there is so much to focus on! I hear elements of squarepusher, the fixx, brian eno, and oh so much more! Fine use and mixing of the bass, well played PJB! I am enjoying the part around 5:00, good change up! A very fun listen!
Hey, good to see something new from you! I'm enjoying the build up of this one! Probably the longest song I've heard from you, but that's not a bad thing. Oh, that bass line is sweet! You have a real grasp on the subtleties of mixing, which I appreciate every time I listen to your stuff! Very good mastering too, you kept the dynamics nicely, but achieved a powerful sound! Reminds me of something from a classic DJ set! Very good stuff! Faved for sure!
This is sweet! I hear that "I can't feel no better" sample again, just heard that on a new track here on looperman... it must be famous! You and MrRobot seem to have worked really well together! I like the vintage sounding drum sounds very much! Quite an enjoyable journey! Faved for sure!
Now this is some ambient I can get into! It sounds superb loud! That bass is just crazy! The vocals fit in so well too! Never heard a song quite like this! The wobble stuff is super cool! You've got some major talent, and it really shows on this track! Love it! Faved for sure!
This is fabulous man! Just the right amount of bounciness! The interplay between the bass and drums is very well executed! Good to hear an organ in there, groovy! Super cool as usual! Faved for sure!
This sounds pretty much radio ready to me! Very nice beats, and excellent frequency distribution! Interesting panning style! Definitely not the usual hip hop! Funny description too! Good track!
Pretty cool song for such a short session! The mixing style is pretty gentle which is nice. Even if I wasn't already stoned, I think this song would get me there! Very good work you two!
Thanx for the feedback dude, I carnt tell the YP about ya been stoned lol but thanx anyways. I usually use mixcraft with him (to make things easier), but thought id try fruity with him and create something, this is his first composition so there's alot more to come, but think I'll make him a page for himself.
This is awesome, love when you drop the bass and beats! Very cool mixing style! Nice sounding synths too! You have much talent, and with songs like this it really shows! Great work!
A very exciting and original track! I enjoyed reading your description very much! I like this because it's on the lo fi side, but still has loads of power! Good stuff! Faved for sure!
You my friend are the master of fusion! Just the right amount of ambiance, with lots of soul! Really jammin guitar and sitar duo! Fun bass line too! Dark ending which haunts me! Very good tune! Faved for sure!
Hey, you've still got it! Really nice rhythms, and I always like your mixing style! Very uplifting song! I'm glad you featured this one so I could find it!
This is really an interesting style! It takes so many of the best things from early electronic music, but it feels up to date too! Really sweet beatmaking, and the mix sounds superb! Those synths that take turns in some sections are just trippy! Another winner! Faved for sure!
