D, your production on this one is so clean. Love the way you placed the vocal in the cut, it never loses groove. only two complaints.. 1) no Sax! lol.. and 2) TOO Short!
your producing skill has leaped bounds in such a short time. Felt to me like an entire song and not just a great beat. Please keep 'em Coming!
fantastic! had me from the opening. I really loved the stripped down feel. Also, It has a comfortable, familiar sound while still being completely original. Hints of Queens of the Stone Age, and early Strokes.. great composition and nice changes. It never got boring. Back to back listens.
Thanks very much, I'm gonna re do the vox, need to figure out a better set up to monitor so I can hear the music and my self in the right mix. If I do i'll re-post it.
wow.. I guess the arm healed okay while I was away..
Nice and Chunky, and still funky. I like that it's a heavy song, but you could play this in your car without your girlfriend giving you attitude. Has a Great Club bounce. I agree with X, shades of Rammstein. Choosing a Rhodes type piano sound surprised me, and it works great. Most would have gone with Pipe organ or something too predictable. Geez, I didn't see if we could still fave a song..I'm going to try!
So, I'm back and checking in on some of my faves..
back to back plays on this one.. the sound is just so slick and polished. Everything can be heard crystal clear! no jockeying for headroom, no dissonance..
another great job...another pro quality production.
very nice indeed. Great guitar sound, almost like Early RUSH.. Composed well, Great changes, not predictable at all.. Must say I'm impressed..
only criticism would be the same one I have for my own tracks, which is the drums sound a little squashed. It doesn't detract from the song. Rock on, have a happy and a Merry..
First off, I checked your profile, so now I can type American English (loz) instead of translator friendly.
Holy frikin' hand grenades, Batman! usually I can pick off influences or derivative songs with ease (though I'm usually too polite to say so) But I can honestly say this is Unique. sure I can hear some influences, and to me it sounds like you listen to just about every kind of music. The rock ballad piano, going into a George Harrison daydream, The dulcet banjo sounding back tones.. Just simply amazing.
I'm glad I happened to notice this track. That was an enjoyable listen. I couldn't figure if this song was more RnB or rock, and it got bluesy all of the sudden. Then a hint of 80's new wave and pop. The Guitar solo at 3:15 was terrific. There was a great feeling behind it, almost like Jeff Beck's playing. I enjoyed this piece very much. I don't yet know if the song sounds good because of your skills or your feelings, because this is the first track of yours I'm hearing. I plan on listening to your entire page after I finish typing.
This was like strolling along the beach and finding a gem!
it was at a faster tempo than I'd expected.. very joyus feeling funk. So, is that Alexander playing after that scratch and drop at 1:12? it's Impressively funky. I really was grinning the whole time. On the tech end I couldn't hear a single thing out of place, out of phase, too loud or too quiet.
Great song Emann, has hints of Alice Cooper and some great guitar sounds. I agree with the others it has tremendous potential..
The drums are coming through a bit thin.. I listened on both flat response monitors and the average Bass boosted media player sound. also there seems to be some issues with the vocal. I'm not the most expert, but it seems recorded at too hot a level. The Looperman thread on spectrum analyzing changed everything for me, I think by leaps. I also use the EQ while it's up, and will eq a track that's fighting for headroom towards a different frequency, towards "The Bald Spots" so to speak. So there's not big clipping peaks at the lows and highs ( as a Geetar player, I scoop my mids, sometimes too much)
sure the loops here are great, but take advantage of the great tutorials in the forums.
I liked this and hope to hear it again.
Toby
Hi Toby, thanks for compliment: I’ve an old Al Cooper fan (one a the first ‘LPs’ I bought as as kid was ‘Million Dollar Babies’).
Also I appreciate the specific input. I especially appreciate this type of review, which includes ideas to improve the song. As I said to John (above)... ‘ I suppose it’s a bit obvious – I’m more of an old-school axe grinder – than a digital age techie. Nonetheless, I’m not proud to receive help whenever I can get it. I’ll check out your page and say ‘hello,’ and I’ll take into account all of your suggestions.
Thanks again, JB
Great Modern southern type feel.. I've never gone wrong clicking one of you tracks. The guitar accents are pushed back a bit, I understand you didn't want to step on the vocal, and it's a hard thing to balance, but there was some great interplay between the accents and the vocal.
Hey Goose!Thanks so much man!
I do leave all the production up to Kikajon and he knows what works.
I battle with my guitar tone beside his...which is so very good for this style and a little hard for me to match but he helps me out a lot in post production of my guitar.
I didn't see that coming at all.. It's just so different from everything else I've been hearing lately. It's rare when I hear a song and don't hear an obvious band or sound that inspired it. Highly original. I can't wait to see your progress..
I'm impressed with everything I've heard from you.. are you really that Young guy in your avatar, or some just some 50 year old genius with a pic of Shia LeBoef?
Please wear a Looperman T-shirt on your world tour in two years.. we need the advertising.
HAHAHA! Yes it is me in the picture, I have more pictures uploaded to prove I am not a 50 year old dude hahaha. You are very kind dude, thank you for your words!
wow,Wayne, talk about painting a picture. This has such a great cinematic feel. Brings me back to those great Sergio Leone's films with Clint Eastwood. The mix was the best use of my speakers today, this track is mixed to wrap right around your head.
The only thing that would improve this is if the smell of Gunsmoke, leather, Whiskey and Cigars started to come out of my monitors.
Faved!!
(p.s. thanks for catching my slip-up the other day and saving me even more embarrassment)
Nice sweet mellow beat. I love how the bass is very present without clubbing you over the head.. There's a great drop @1:40 that reminded me of that old song "Dream Weaver".. It sounds almost like a west coast track, but with a lot less anger..
way to set a mood.. when those strings kick in it's just great!
How can I put this.. It sounds as if someone is going through some sadness, but there's light at the end of the tunnel. Then, suddenly, our window on this chap is slammed shut.. Did he make out okay??
Hey goose :)
Awesome review to get.. I thought the double leads would be sort of an overkill on this tune since its got a synth going - but maybe on the next track.. ;)
Thanks for taking your time to write something bud. See you around :)
Great sound.. The bass was shaking the light above my station.
I'm guessing that around 1:40, you go after the Bas*ard that killed your partner.. I agree with cody about the imagery.. I can almost see your angry face popping the trunk on your car, revealing a cache of scary weapons and a Kevlar vest.
I Hear a little Steely in there as well. every track you do is better than the last. It's going to be sad when your famous and wont talk to us amatuers anymore..lolz..
Thank you! I uploaded the acapella already actually hahaha! But I guess it´s not approved yet, looperman reviews acapellas before making it available. Hope you can do something with it!
I gotta say that you really have something there. Has a great "Garage"ey feel to it.. I agree with the others about thickening it up, but that will come with experience. this is another track that I would really love to get my grubby little Hands on.. You're starting out with a great song, so it can only get better. The three esteemed gents who reviewed before me don't lie, and they wouldn't tell you to waste your time polishing this if it wasn't worth it..
I will check on this one periodically because it has a great feel and I'd like to see how it progresses.
Wow. Thank you! It really means a lot to me that people liked this track. It's one of my favorites that I've done--I'm doing a whole EP of rock songs with lyrics based around a fantasy fiction novel I'm writing.
I actually did "remaster" the track followed everyone's great advice. I'll be uploading it tonight. Is there any way that I can alert all of you to the new file? I'd like to hear what you think of the changes.
