I couldn't get through the whole thing, and by that I mean every ten seconds or so, I'd back up because there was something I just had to hear again.. On the third pass I was able to just take it all in. There were a few instances where the bass line seemed to be slightly off cue. to be specific at @:58 to 1:08 the bass seems a few milliseconds early to the Percussion's groove, and it falls back in groove seamlessly at 1:08. same at 3:01, and at 3:37 back in perfect swing. Also at that point there seems to be a homage to Jethro Tull without borrowing a single note or phrase, and that is something That I've only heard Charlie Parker do.
Hi Toby, thanks for pointing that out! I will get in deep and amend this bass/drum mismatch. It could be a frequency class with the baritone sax ( which I am also investigating ).
Thank your honesty, as I said these songs need to be awesome and the only way to achieve this is by listening to others and tweaking accordingly.
that was a 4:02 ear-to ear smile.. Great on so many levels.. The fun innocent laughs, the fuzzy guitars, and most of all passing along the love of music.. I'm sure it was just for fun, but with a few phrasing edits on the vocal, it would be sure to go Viral.
You must be one proud Papa. she's just one auto-tune away from a record deal! Can't wait to play this for the Mrs. She'll just melt.
man is this refreshing. I was totally into it, and at 1:24 VOCALS! it was great the way the tracks interplay with each other. it was minimalist without missing anything. this is the type of song I could listen to over and over..
Peace..

loved the Phased drums, they totally caught me off guard. It never once felt off groove, never gets monotonous, and like AllenV said, the the use of panning in the creation of a large sonic space was visceral. I wasn't Just listening, I was engaged.
I have been working on a jazz track, and I just noticed we're sharing some of the same loops. This is a great piece, I'm not sure if I'm going to continue with mine..
G'day Goose.... Mixcraft? That loop library was the first step in producing! I had no help so just jumped in and try and get my head around the whole electronic thing... Dude go for it finish your track i'll take mine off... Most of my uploads are first attempts and different genres to get a feel and mess with loops and sounds, just song structures and what not! I tried cubase first without a clue and didn't know where to begin... But now I got Ableton Live and mixer midi keyboard micas all sorts and the fun has begun.... so go for it dude im using soundcloud now.... you cant do wrong making your own song... its yours and its faultless cuz you put it there and thats how it is... whether peeps dig it is a different game.... but i love critique...its a step forward... god knows why im on this tangent... oh yeah Im ADHD and making a tune right now! love to hear yours man... cheers Robb
dude, I can't stay off your page.. now you have me shorting out jacks through wah pedals and sh*t. I can't believe nobody thought of this before you. I've been experimenting with all kinds of crazy stuff, nothing finished..
don't mind me, I'm just sitting here in awe wondering how it's done. This is going into my "lessons" folder for sure. I've been playing around with this genre, now I can see just how in over my head I truly am.
great idea.. fun track, I really like the guitar sound. I'm sure a lot of Loopers would like a sample of that alone. perhaps you could add that to the loops section of your page.
fantastic. She has this great Bjork/Annie Lennox/Crabberries lilting delivery.. just phenomenal. I love the minimalistic approach here. The way it's arranged, it could easily be more Celtic or even kettle drums and such, like on Bjork's "human Behaviour". I preferred your approach. The only word to really describe this sound is "Liquid".
if this is electro, I need to listen to more Electro.
cheers for that man, i'm really pleased it hit the mark. I couldn't think what the hell to classify it as cos there is no category for funky chilled electro ambience. i love the liquid term tho!
this is something I must study.. Everything is so chunky and the vocals are sweet and clear as a bell. Has a terrific hook. also, I appreciate the length. you made a bold statement, got your hooks in, and showed restraint. Leave 'em wanting More.
double bonus, I click on a featured track and it's something classy. I almost asked for more vocals, but I realized my monitors weren't playing properly. I fixed the sound card setting, and there were those dulcet tones I was looking for.
Just all around great double listen for me. the sudden ending makes you want more
The vocals lack confidence.. not in the singing, in the mixing!
This has a good sound, don't hide behind the music, no matter how good it is. Your tone reminds me of the band New Religion's song True faith. I'm telling ya, you got it, so go for it.
way to jump right in! I hate a four minute intro. everything blended so well. If I was to dare criticize such a great track, I personally would have liked to hear the vocal panning a bit different. Bring the solo portion of Bradsucks closer to center, and there's wonderful harmonies of Ascension, which might benefit from doubling and wide-panning.
everything was so crisp! Masterfully arranged, and even at 5+ Mins. it never got boring..
Thanks for the Lesson..
The Goose.
Thankyou Goose, much appreciated! I take on board the panning issues...Tried it centered but they tended to cancel eachother out, so will try to shift their frequencies a bit. good idea about ascensions vox though...I'm still learning after all these years.Lol.
Overall a very nice peice, I hope you're planning some tune ups, because I'd love to hear this with a bit more brightness on those hi-hats, perhaps more width on the piano. I'm sure there are many more qualified to give input, but perhaps duplicate the piano track, pan it and off-set it a few milliseconds for a more ambient natural reverb. Just a thought..
I reminds me of those great songs the Farrely brother's always use in their movies, Like Pete Yorn's "Strange condition". I personally love a stripped down song, but the cleaner you go the more small problems stand out (that's why I haven't attempted it yet). I wish there was more vocal width, but it doesn't interfere with the honesty of the delivery. will add to faves..
sweet and smmmmmmoooooth. My only complaint is no guitar solo! (that's because I'm a guitar player) a very Chillaxed vibe indeed. I'll be watching for the remix. an all around good feel.
back to back listens.. this track made me want to pick up my axe and join in.. I hope you'll consider putting more polish on this and putting it back up. a very worthwhile listen! thanks.
This rocks! a very enjoyable back-to back listen.. Purely constructively, I really would like to hear this with a stronger driving drum track and perhaps doubled or harmony vocals. I liked it, you are definitely on to something .
It's been a while since I listened to a track that hit me like this.. Played it three times straight away. Incredible production. for a very large sound, so many things happening,Yet you never get a crowded feeling. the only word I can use to describe it is "Spacious". very positive vibes, added to faves.
I really like this. I've even tried to use that 'pella twice (man, she's great) and of al the versions I've heard, this is the most compatable and cohesive.
I usually give a courtesy listen to anyone kind enough to take the time to listen to my tracks, but it got complicated. I can't stop listening to these tracks, It was hard to pick one to comment on, until I found this gem. The use of the horns and flute grabbed me immediately, you truly captured a live performance feel. It's smooth and sounds perfect for a good Tarrantino movie, it's chillout, cinematic, ambient and jazz at the same time..added to faves!

If your plans were to use the vocals as an instrument, it worked. If highlighting the pella was your aim, it's pushed a bit to far back for me..

Screw, the neighbours, agreed. Mine definitelly weren't happy, as I was making this tune two nights in a a row, on a blast.
