on I Can Be Strong (Instrumental Version) by Vulnerable
But If you really think I'm going to pre order an album on the strength of this track your dreaming...it's not bad and vocals on top would help..but compared to a lot of music on this site which is freely available for download by the way this material is mediocre...not trying to offend..but it works the other way for me...hear first, buy second

Hi MrG....I like what you've put down here...that's a great bass wah synth...runs strong and true through the composition with some nice flavours on the side....good cohesion between the drums and melody.....great work!.....cheers planet

on Get By by PsychotropicCircle
Slap said it!.....Frank Zappa would love this track it has some of his irreverent humour and pathos wrapped in super proficient cool playing..the melody bubbles to the surface and surrounds and uplifts a great vocal performance.....I think this is the exceptional musician's gift..being able to play and also have enough peripheral control to almost act like a dandelion on the breeze...shimmering and shifting.....it's got to be cosmic!....cheers planet

on Socially Acceptable Behavior by ColdWarBaby
This is cool!.....Very interesting...I can hear heaps of influences resonating here, but I'm not going to draw comparisons......Nice tight playing..this is a great live track and would still get wide acceptance now....In away it's good that you haven't been listening to a lot of music for the past 15 years(Imo you haven't missed much) as now that your producing again..we'll get what's really happening within yourself and not some rehashed sounds that may have intruded themselves........great work!...cheers planet

Wow! I'm relly grateful for such a positive response to such an old bit of music. I have to admit that, as egotistic as it may sound, I also believe that this could still fly today. I played in a lot of bands and this was the one I really wanted to survive. It was a real sad day when it finally fell apart.
Thank you very much planetjazzbass!

This one really gets moving..spinning,busting,hustling,bustling...very cool..love that line "seems to have limited intelligence"....enjoyed every part of it..well you can't do much more than that 10/10......cheers planet

Thanks Planet. That line is from The Planet Of The Apes, when Heston is observed by the counsel...
it was great fun putting all these random sounds together, I think I'm going to explore a bit more this "genre".

on Nuclear Fallout (SlapJohnson collab) by DJ_JEZZA
Hey Jez...this is a great number and when you've got Slap in your corner, how can you fail!..I'm reminded of contemporary classical in a weird way with this piece, the staccato rhythm and offset sharps work wonderfully well and give the whole track an advancing and predatory nature..electronic elements are well embedded.....great work! this is the first material I have heard from you and I'm definitely going to be checking more of your tunes out....cheers planet

on Close To You ( Raf Mix ) by PsychotropicCircle
Hey Robert.....I'm reviewing this track again as I was listening to it on my player, while walking through some wetlands birdwatching the other day.....what's great about this arrangement and the playing on it is that it pays respect to the original melodies without being dismissive of them or replacing the fundamentals of the song...I was thinking of the Carpenters and wondering how they would react....I think they would love it!......It is a very uplifting piece..very happy and fresh without the slightest hint of worry......There's one other cover song that I love that reminds me of a similar but totally different approach musically..Miles Davis's version of 'Time After Time' by Cindy Lauper........cheers dave

thanks again Dave,
this track was one of my favorites when i was a teenager, first love affair etc..............than i had a look on you tube watching this old clip done in the 60s with that singing woman playing the drums.........i love it....."why do birds suddenly appear...every time you are near......." so i totally can imagine that you´v listened to the track while walking through some wetlands birdwatching and having lots of memories of past events maybe ....i take this for serious and never could destroy these feelings i had although it was along time ago........basics of our youth ........
but now "You´re Under Arrest"......since 1986 waiting for rescue....i also love this Miles track

on 12 String Gone Wild by Randall822
Nice touch on the 12..is that a hockey stick fender?..always wanted one!...Great listen Randall...funky rhythm patterns all over the place....with nice attack on the playing level...enjoyed this through and through...now I really want a 12 string again!....cheers planet
Randall822
Randall822 replied Unknown
Hi Planet,
Thanks for your review and comments. I appreciate you taking the time to listen to it and am glad you enjoyed it.

The 12 string I used was a newer Fender Strat 12 string. If I took off the extra 6 strings, it would sound like, and 'look' like a regular Strat.

The old hockey stick style I did own at one time and foolishly sold it. Now they are bringing in over $4,000.
Thanks for your input,
Randy

on PSR (LC Horseback Riding synth sample) by DonnieVyros
You know it's interesting when musical parts, passages or instruments are showcased by themselves with out any back up or support from other sources....I like this..(though I've got a suspicion that I've heard it in part before)...next logical step is to expand it into a whole orchestral piece, then you'd really be riding!...nice!..cheers planet
DonnieVyros
DonnieVyros replied Unknown
Yessiree boobie thatchers! As for the musical parts part, that's one of the aspects of Orchestral/classical which always intrigues me. How you've got sections, levels (or rows), chairs w/lead (sometimes in solo), etc. And although it's worlds above my understanding I sometimes try to emulate, immitate, and sculpt what they play into what I do. Which leads us to the next part, it's familiarity. I wouldn't be suprized if these key sequences have been used before. It was a very basic key pattern I used to make this. Thanks, L&R!
