You know I'm finally starting to understand the difference between East,West coast,Dirty South etc(thanks in no small part to you and my drum software)...this is a great beat!...the synth line is right on the movement....I'm really diggin' the space in this style, very uncluttered and polished..excellent work(as always)...cheers planet

on Call on the Lord. by blairrock957
Now I'm no song writing expert by any means.....There's one bit I would change though, after the finger style intro you start singing in syncopation with the strummed chords...I'd keep that part with no modulation...just sing the passage straight, and let the guitar bounce around at the edges.....the devils been defeated part is perfect...just my take on it...cheers planet

I'll try playing around with that. I had this as an instrumental for a while before I did the lyrics. Just picked up the guitar and tried it took me a couple of times to get it. But I like it. gives more seperation to the 2 vocal parts. I think I like it. I'll try recording that way in a couple of days and see how it sounds. Seems good though. thanks for the advice.

Hey GirlSonic.....excellent beat you've got started here!...there's a lot that could be added to this track and not detract from the quality...but I sort of like it just the way it is......plenty of space to let it just run and groove....way cool in my opinion....cheers planet

Nice!....that rhythm repeat works well..and the guitar becomes more of a percussive instrument....a bit of an abrupt ending though...I would have preferred a simple fade out or an echoing drum triplet.....cheers planet

Fantastic sound!..wow Robert!..wow!...what a great mix...fanfreakingtastic vocals........that is one of the best sounding fretlesses..deep and clear.....Ha!..I like the way you paraphrase your description..(no weird jazz solos or confusing parts)Damn!..their my favourite parts!.....I vote we lock down the genre pool to just jazz for a month and re-educate the Looperman community...(and close all the doors and windows so nobody can get out!).......tips me lid on this one...cheers planet

on Pray by blairrock957
Hey mate...nice modulation in your voice..love that phasey guitar....You know I remember you saying how you'd been ridiculed at another site for your beliefs...I don't think your ever going to have that issue here..this place is civilised in that regard...so while the description of your song is true I don't think it warrants the disclaimer...In fact more power to you for singing about something that has real meaning to you..the more the merrier...cheers planet

Thanks for the kind words. I enjoy singing that song a lot. And I believe you're right. I should just state that it's a religious song and leave it at that.

I like nothing better than a good guitar blitz!...and I mean blitz...this is great!..it's like a giant snowball...nothings going to stop it and it just gets bigger and bigger...nice bass underneath this rampage with some subtle changes and pauses...great ending to! that's really important on a piece like this...a lot of people would have just run out of steam and deflated the whole track...not you....excellent work!..cheers planet

Hey mate...sweet tune!...love the strings...I sort of agree with Rei, it's hanging for a bass line..however I like it the way it is..sometimes when you leave out some instruments in a mix it gives it space and a different dynamic......cool and clear work!...cheers planet

on Reflection;Slap Johnson by SLAPJOHNSON
I guess when it comes down to it,the fundamentals apply in the creative process...Conceptualise-Act upon it.Is it the clear first thought that crystallizes or the unembellished execution of that thought?...whatever the case may be the result is the same....an amount of soul has been transferred from the artist to his work....not an easy task that can be duplicated every time....these are the special moments.......you have quite a few in your tracks....but ones like this stand out for me.....sparse,distant yet intimate,no hangups or issues just plain simple music from the soul.
SLAPJOHNSON
SLAPJOHNSON replied Unknown
Hi Dave, wow what a review and analysis of a track, I know what you mean though. Sometimes the best songs
are the ones that have no boundaries, there free and expressive and allowed to breath and develop naturally, "keep it simple stupid" seems to spring to mind, or am I barking up the wrong tree! I'm confused now, Crap!!! Maybe I should go and write another song, my head hurts.. Cheers Slap...

Cool rocking..being an old rocker this is like coming home for me.....didn't we all grow up on this stuff!,,,great guitar by the way!...Oh yeah mate..you mentioned some more material you had..by all means send it over the ocean into my mailbox and I'll see what I can do...I'm going to have to return the favour soon as I've just got the glimmer of a project in the back of my brain..it's only coalesced into a few bars so far..but we shall see....again great track Steve...it's got me buggered how you can explain to your other half....."Oh sorry Luv..won't be home for tea...got to go practice with the girls."...you must be a magician is all I can say!
