I think a tracks intro is all important to it's integrity..this one was very professional....a great flow into the pads and melodic theme....I love that echoing piano and the fade out is sublime...great work.....if this is rave I've got to listen to more of this genre...cool!...cheers planet
Almost Oasis like in bits..Very interesting sound happening..wow! it's quite amazing I can here influences from the sixties up to the present day and all very British...sounds very hit parade worthy....look out your in the charts with a bullet!...cheers planet...just as an aside...tell everyone of your new tune in the forum area..everyone does it...this should be heard by as many people as possible..it's great! :)
Hi Six....Well I've had an exploratory look around inside the patient sowed him back up and have made my diagnosis...A clear case of Hendririffalex.....nothing to be alarmed about...this is the first case I've seen since the late seventies...the cure is not pleasant though.....700 hours of continual exposure to ABBA...
Seriously the reason why it sounds a bit at odds with itself is simple...just too much lead work over the top of the rhythm structure...it happens with some Hendrix songs to,especially his live work......the effect sound on the guitar at one passage closely resembles the bass and it washes it out..when the bass resurfaces again it sounds great......Sheesh!...a lot of guitarists would love to have this problem..including me!...During the later nineties and up until now the lead guitarist has been slowly but surely relegated to a back row seat in popular music, guys like you are bringing it back upfront were it belongs (thank God!)...so I don't think there's any problem at all just over exuberance to a small degree on this track.....cheers planet
I never cease to be amazed by your creativity my friend - Hendriffalex....haha...that is so awesome. If it's a disease I want some! And keep me away from the cure please...ugh...7 minutes of ABBA is about all I can stand before my tenuous grasp on sanity is utterly demolished. Thanks so much for listening and leaving me some very amusing and insightful comments. Peace, Six
Wow man!...you walking Orchestra you....lets count em, 1.Soprano Sax 2.Clarinet 3.Guitar 4.Baritone Sax 5.Flute...all played beautifully.....I've met multi instrumentalist's before but usually they play one instrument well and dabble in the rest....When talent was being handed out you got enough for 5 people....I am constantly floored by what you do........saying it was a privilege playing with you is an understatement.......cheers planet(one of your many fans here at looperman)
Hi Dave, and thank you for playing on this one. I have some other stuff which you could play on if you want! If yes I will bounce it ovewr to you in Oz. Cheers Slap... (your mate and fan)!
I've also done this acapella....but not like this!...talk about taking things to another level...sheesh!....You really do know what your doing.....I think I've said this before..every one of your tracks is a learning experience....the notes are so..poised,like a dancer, there's that exuberance of motion and style.........great work!....awesome technique.....cheers planet
Cool as!..Mike's really developing into a major talent, the more he does the better he gets...go 22catch!...Bloody great playing as per Slap!...in fact I hope I live till I hear you pop a bum note...that way I can look forward to hitting the 120's or more....I saw 'Tower of Power' supporting 'Little Feet' and the 'Dobbie Bros' in Paris in 1975....brilliant concert ..and I think their still going?....pity about Lowell....I digress, great track excellent work!...cheers planet
Hi Planet. I envy you because you have seen Tower of power live, I only have thier stuff on mp3, but by George it's a tight outfit. Thanks for your kind words about this track, I also love the Doobie bro,s (Awesome funk and soul) Cheers Slap...
Oh...Yes!.....I'd have to put this in the fantastic category...bloody marvellous! that's for sure......I'm going to be a regular visitor McS...you swing big time!...cheers planet
This is really good...the drumming on what sounds like iron or something is great...I love this natural element...reminds me of a 'Midnight Oil' concert I saw..not the music but the application...Rob Hurst the drummer had a 500 gallon corrugated iron water tank next to his kit..it was absolutely amazing the sounds he was getting out of it...I could go on about old washing machines that sound funky.....I really like what your doing here...it's a great synthesis of beats and melody....cheers planet
All your tunes have excellent rhythmic awareness and great keys.....if I had to say anything about Hip Hop or it's related genres I'd be looking in your direction for inspiration....another excellent track!....cheers planet
I no producer or anything...but I am amazed your not making serious money out of these tunes(maybe you are!)...there as good if not better than any commercial beats that I've heard!......bloody pro work!...........cheers planet
I've often thought about revisiting old tunes I made years ago....but never seem to find the time...they weren't as good as this one though..newer technology, clearer sound, better production values would possibly improve the sound but not the impact of this track it's great as it is!....cheers planet
I love this one ..very Sicilian nights type of music...very easy on the ears..love that down shift at 2.00.....female vocals on top of this would be magic!..please do it....cheers planet
However such was his stature M.L.King's voice was heard loud and clear right around the globe....great track pepp..very with it and it only accentuates his message ...amazingly even people who wouldn't know Martin L King will love this track because it's way funky and very addictive.....great work!...cheers planet
Thanks for the review planet. It took me a long time to do this one. I didn't want to take away from the message. Finally came together yesterday. Pep PS Love your work.
From what institution I don't know..........very frenzied, I'm sort of thinking this would be a great breathing track between sets...Ableton is such a cool tool..the only thing I'd like to change would be to arc up the footsteps.....cheers planet
What a great track!..good for anything that involves fun....not one scintilla of bad vibes anywhere.....a fantastic distillation of smooth swinging bass and flying keyboards over an upbeat drum and percussion line.....magic!...you've outdone yourself Robert....cheers planet
Hi Zib....Cool track...I like that clear synth it counterpoints the other pad nicely...I'd have to agree with GameboiX about the drums but that's only a minor issue...you've already done all the heavy lifting.....great work!...cheers planet
thanks for the review. a few people have commented on the percussion but what exactly could i have done to make it better? i realize it could be better but not sure how to get there.
Hi Gameb..........I dig this one..especially the background elements and piano stabs...my only criticism(and this is only my opinion) is the sound of those synth drums I think it would sound better with natural drum sounds........great track-value for 4 hours work...cheers planet
I really like what's going on here...this smooth quasi jazz type feel is right up there....initially I thought from the title it would be heavy guitar whack music..I was pleasantly surprised..never judge a book by it's cover!....great work! cheers planet
I've got to invent a better word than cool..because this track deserves it!.........great build up with that spacey swirling synth pad...if a washing machine suddenly gained intelligence and a desire to play music this might just be the result...set the controls to spin!(and deep rinse)....cheers planet
I hate that noseless wonder and like his monkey better than him..........Well now that the pleasantries are over lets get down to business...this is GREAT!..very.very addictive and walks all over the original....I like covers as long as the performer stamps his own style on the song..there's nothing worse in my book than mindless plagiarism......not only does this song have an amusing quality it's a funky groove all on it's own.......great idea and execution!....cheers planet
I tried to be funny with this one using different sounds. For my next cover I'm thinking of making Jump by Van Halen, elevator style...
Thanks for the kind words.
Cheers S.
When media is used to extrapolate on things, that's when it becomes a true tool of the imagination......this music/audio event for me conjures up the space underneath a microscope from a pollen grains perspective...vast towering machinery over receding hazy perspectives.......very powerful.....cheers planet
What has to be said...any live performance is a great achievement on many levels just in itself...no hesitation,no safety net,no turning back...apart from being a great song it was performed with passion..the vital ingredient for so many things........was there any visual additions to the performance(lights etc)?....I'd love to be at one of your shows...cheers planet
