Hey man...cool tune!.. a very real and solid mix..the vocals work excellently, you've got that quasi 'Clash' thing going on here but definitely your own sound...which is what ever musician strives for...good to hear some instruments being played and played well I might add!..thoroughly enjoyable...I'll definitely be keeping an ear out for your tracks..great work! ..cheers planet :)

on Just As Good Ft Buddahmann CIR Remix by CONEYISLANDRECORDS
This track is ILL dog...lol did I get the lingo right..hey man this is sneaky it's an old track! haha slick marketing..I must say if there ever was a time Autotune needs to be used it's here..these guys are way off key,way off..Hmmm not trying to be negative, maybe it's a genre issue but the lyrics are all over the place or so it seems...damn..I've gone all negative on you..well it happens.....no offence

Haha,... Negative Nancy! No offence taken. Yeah its ILL or more like ILL(inois) or Ill Noise. Lol. Wasnt trying to be sneaky and yep its a old instrumental. Shortyone had worked on it a while ago but the mix was all funky and kinda still is. Bad mix on both ends. It was a old track so it wasnt mixed as well as I can mix now. I couldnt get the vocals due to compatibility issues from the program he used to record the vocals. Had m4a files and I couldnt load them into FL. So yeah the mix is still kinda jacked up but I did what I could with mixing it as a whole. I think the only concern with the vocals is the ones on the chorus parts. The singing is decent but it does sound a little cluttered. I thought the rapping parts were awesome though.

Hey man..super cool!..this is quite noir for a Rei tune....the more I listen to this the better it becomes...very cool indeed!..you and Elaine have captured that building hanging tension that only exists in good music...super!..this type of track would suit film work brilliantly...exceptional!..cheers Dave :)
rei4real
rei4real replied Unknown
imo it stands between with "follow the sunset" and "voices" ... a little darker than the first, a little more groovy than the second ...
when I worked in Elaine's poem I asked myself permanently why I haven't had this idea earlier ... I promise, it's not the last time!!!

Ahh yeah ..I'm familiar with this style it,seems to be categorised by the sine waves used...I like this..maybe it needs a really low air moving sub bass going through it unmercifully...I only say this because it seems to be a prerequisite for the genre, hell I don't know! Jahknow's the expert,lol..cool vocal inclusions..your nearly cross pollinating here with that quasi scratch effect,it's all cool though..cheers Dave

Cool sound man...a lot more melodic than a lot of industrial stuff I've heard..this is almost an industrial pop song,I only say that because it could handle some lyrics very well..cheers planet

10 bonus points immediately because it's not Hip Hop!.lol.. but seriously, what a great tune..you've got that hint of 80's new wave in your voice which lends a modern vibrancy and freshness...nice mix with a cool 'studio room' feel that's upfront and honest...great work man! cheers Dave :)

Hey Man..I first heard this on the Mega compilation promo..I really dig your delivery and style..great seamless vocal pitching and very good articulation...there's no disputing, you project your attitude way into the credibility stakes..a lot of rappers are flat and just go through their rhymes talking tough and think that's all it takes to impact on people...this is no where more evident than when you get guys like me who's first stop isn't urban music..actually stopping and digging tracks on a lot of levels...so you must be doing something right!..cheers planet
nepaul
nepaul replied Unknown
I put a lot of energy into the delivery so it's nice to know it shows through in the track. What's even better is that people like you who don't normally like rap/hip hop enjoy it as well. Thanks for the thoughtful review planet. Here's to the MMM album!

Aahhh...I thought I sensed a disturbance in the force.lol..Rei is back!!!..far out man!....Great rocking tune dude!..man your absence has made you music heavier...this is verging on metal, but has the unmistakeable Rei slickness and panache...you've made my day (night here in Oz actually)..there's a lot of Loopers that have missed your spectacular playing and arrangements..very cool to see you back man...cheers Dave :)
rei4real
rei4real replied Unknown
hi Dave!!
thx a lot for taking the time ... well, I'm not sure if I sound heavier now, maybe it's because I used a Danelectro baritone guitar for the main riff, the lower frequencies of this instrument gives the sound more power (like a drop-d tuning, but you know that!) ... the EP I'm working on will be a funk album though, it's almost finished, some negotiations with a few labels are on the way, so I don't have a release date atm ... we'll see ... oh, just remembered, you know one of the songs (the way you move) from mixposure ...
thx again for listening ... and may the force be with you ... ;-)

peace, rei

A cat song!..well an inspiration from one..cool! I'm a cat person as well as a Leo....Groovy man! (lol..pardon me for using a hackneyed expression but it seemed to fit)..heavy duty rhythms and the distortion works well...quite gnarley as my surfing friends would say....The bottom line here..if you say it's Drum and Bass,it is!....anybody that's going to raise any issues with the distinction probably won't be listening to it anyway! lol...I must say that while I've always felt comfortable with my vocabulary and have endeavoured to keep pace with changing nomenclature, doing the same in regards to musical specific genres requires far too much pain and suffering..I'm all in favour of generalised descriptions, even just 'good' or 'bad' will do...I think the problem started with musical historians and commentators..however I know the hat on backwards contingent had something to do with it...cheers Dave
n0mad23

Cats can slide into an inherent groove, so it works on a couple levels including a proclivity for savage tenderness. Knock the little one down and give her a good bath.

It's Drum and Bass in a proto-roots form (something you can relate to) by virtue of its foundation(s). The drums lean toward a reggae sensibility, and there's more than a gentle nod toward Dub (lots of reverb and delay). Maybe it's a prediction of Shuffle DnB, or Dance-in-Place Dub - 90 bpm allows dance for a very, very long time. Maybe someone will be forced to create yet another sub-genre as tolerance of the unclassified seems to get right up some noses.

No backwards baseball cap used in the creation of this one. Here's to that!

Hi Anomelei...my first visit to your profile page...I like that line about finding music within things that are at first glance...anomalous (no pun intended)..this piece has a great texture about it,very much like a tossed salad, which in my opinion is very aesthetically pleasing..it's light breezy and fresh..and the message is cool..at first glance I was attracted by the title..I would go and see a film unsighted with that title alone! lol...cool vibes..cheers planet :)

Anomelie replied Unknown
Thanks for the praise! I really dig a lotta your loops & have downloaded several, actually. I'll be sure to let you know if I use them. Love the tossed salad analogy. Some sounds are crisp like a red pepper, other crunchy like a carrot. And all colorful! Nice image.

*["WHERE?" REVIEW]*

Hi Oasis..we've all been in that situation at one time or another, thankfully we both seemed to have survived in one piece.... very cool bass line,it makes the track....this tune is way too structural to be classed as weird I think, more in the fusion area maybe..I would have liked it a bit longer..but we're all forced to work under the constraints of the file size limit I guess..I wondered why this track hadn't received a review up until now and picked it accordingly..I wasn't disappointed..It's smooth and cool..cheers planet

cheers, Planet. ive actually been switching up the genre from time to time, just to see if i could get some feedback on it...and cause i really have no idea where it belongs.
there is a longer version of the track, but i didnt think it would be well received enough to warrant putting it up [since its such a goofy piece]. Im so glad you liked it!

Ahh this is my favourite so far...what a great overall tone and dare I might say this particular tune really encompasses the dynamics of the original with all it's flair and verve....you can tell the bass player loves this one he's 'there'....If I walked into any jazz club in the world and this was going down,I'd be smiling big time...great drumming and terrific horns,I must however single out the keyboard player again he's great, this style sinks or swims on the piano!..probably one of the best endings I've heard for ages.. a dozen thumbs up...cheers :)

Hi Planet, I just love this band! Richard is an amazing talent on piano, he also plays the trumpet like Dizzy. Now that is also amazing to witness! I saw him play it at a live jam session in Durham City, he blew my mind on hammond organ, then picked up the trumpet and I shat myself...

Cheers Slap...

Cool vibes Jah..I don't know why more dudes don't centre on 'riddim' music..it's got the spirit in it and beats the hell out of the urban sprawl that passes for Hip Hop....Nice phrasing and keeping the instruments clean..I'm a bit of a Pre Raphaelite when it comes to Dub..I grew up with Calypso! haha it's come a long way...I must do a few Reggae type grooves and get with the flow ...very enjoyable groove this one, which proves the bottom line in music is how it effects the listener..not how it hypes the listener...cheers planet

Hey Sean....Very cool! there's an undeniable earthiness running through this piece..totem grooves, shell fragments from old cooking fires, soot and sex...all the fragments that make for a human experience..electric tribalism.
The levels sound very good to me,I'm listen at a moderate volume level and I can't fault the flow and throb that's happening, almost an out of phase effect..it works very well, and has good cohesion throughout..if I was to get really picky and pedantic(something I try and avoid but unfortunately it seems part of my nature, and you have asked..lol)...I'd include some small melodic motif in a set outro to finish,a small arpeggio or something that finishes with a very long tailed reverb and delay......a great track!definitely high in the appreciation stakes from a listener's standpoint...you can't do more than that...cheers Dave

Prophetic Dave. I've actually got a couple of remix versions of this one already on the table. I'm dropping the vocals altogether and adding MIDI melody and harmony from Foggy Bottom. Naturally, the effects stacks are so high you could get a nosebleed from up there. Anyway, the dynamic really changes and I'll shoot you an email so you can hear your suggestions in track form. Thanks for the encouragement and kind words. It's a good thing having you as an ally. Cheers.

Hey guys I love this..it's so Live!(haha I know that sounds lame)but you don't get much live material on this site and it's a welcome relief seeing and hearing people actually playing instruments together! lol..for a first take,I dips me lid...everything went smoothly with everyone getting a look in...also great presence of mind by the drummer Luke in playing with controlled restraint, how many times in a quick recording situation do the drums overpower everything..though thank god for jazz drummers who actually have some musical sensibilities..lol (apologies to all you rock drummers out there!)haha....I really dig this and can't wait to hear your next offering...cheers planet :) (and I might add that the recording quality of this track is very cool!)

on Here comes Mr Big (Saxobones) by SLAPJOHNSON
Hey man is Riff Laden related to Osama?.....you can take all the guitars,piano's,etc....take all those instruments that are multi timbrel, create chords and are generally regarded as polyphonic and put them to one side...nothing beats a horn section..nothing! all other musical impact statements fall short....the term 'blown away' has a literal meaning here...this track is one of the 'filthiest' bad arsed tunes I've heard in a month of Sundays...makes a person breathless just listening to it! sheesh...cheers Dave :)

Hey cool MrSeinway......I like the Eastern motif running through this piece it lends a certain gravitas not usually associated with Glitch..I think to be fair this track really needs to be assessed in two parts, conceptually and the more pragmatic nuts and bolts of mastering.
There's a multitude of sounds in this production that on paper would shout out conflict and frequency saturation, but I found ever phrase, passage and audio semaphore articulate and well defined with an overall sheen that delivers up a superb sound experience.
The great enemy of creativity is complacency and on the other hand the opiate of self indulgence resides....There's a great deal of seamless continuity apparent here with enough changes to make for an exciting musical progression....great work on all fronts..cheers planet
