Description : This is a live recording of the Saxobones jazz quintet FT Alexander Bone (Alto & Soprano sax),Richard West (Piano),Jonathan Berry (Bass), Luke Stevens (Drums),Steve Bone (Tenor sax). These recordings took place on the 7th March 2010,and are all first takes. These tracks are the basis of our new live Saxobones album of jazz standards, this is our version of the Jimmy Smith classic Back at the Chicken Shack. I recorded these tracks using Ableton and the amazing line 6 tone port with two mics direct to one stereo track. I have also posted videos of the same recordings on youtube. go to groovetonemusic page to see how we did it, and watch the recordings take place. All comments welcome..
Cheers Slap...

It feels like time-warping into that moment right between Big Band and Jazz. The jazz sensibility you guys are jacked into is fantastic! I totally agree with PBJ about the restraint shown by your drummer - totally happening track! Faved.

Hey guys I love this..it's so Live!(haha I know that sounds lame)but you don't get much live material on this site and it's a welcome relief seeing and hearing people actually playing instruments together! lol..for a first take,I dips me lid...everything went smoothly with everyone getting a look in...also great presence of mind by the drummer Luke in playing with controlled restraint, how many times in a quick recording situation do the drums overpower everything..though thank god for jazz drummers who actually have some musical sensibilities..lol (apologies to all you rock drummers out there!)haha....I really dig this and can't wait to hear your next offering...cheers planet :) (and I might add that the recording quality of this track is very cool!)

Description : I think it's a late evening song to accompany you for a single drink.
Jazzy in most of the aspects. It is made single handedly so please consider it an experimentation for the thrill of making music.
Hope you will like it.

Description : "Oh no - not jazz metal! You're not supposed to mix those genres together." Yes, but someone's got to and the musical gods have chosen me for the difficult task. 9 mins of instrumental jazz metal - damn I sure know how to write a hit song - US No 1 here I come. Anyway - there's some dark, swinging groovy jazz, with Rhodes and guitar as the main instruments, for a few minutes and then some haunting, thumping evil breaks loose. Look out for the powerful synth horn sound. And then it just gets heavier and heavier before returning to some nice chillgroove funky mystery jazz. Instruments played and/or programmed: electric guitar, bass guitar, electric cello, multiple programmed acoustic drumkits, filtered strings, Rhodes, big synth bass, evil synth horn and a few other assorted synths. I assume this has too much jazz for metallers and too much metal for jazzers. So, only for weirdoes like me who enjoy both. This will surely be too odd for most people but I like to think it's pretty interesting and powerful. Let me know how its weirdness worked for you...

Description : Something a bit different from us. I (Bobo) played guitar, synth, midi bass and percs to this piano loop by LM's most excellent Rasputin. Wataya, stoned as usual, thought he heard Barbara Streisand singing. This is the result.
