Hey cool beat oasis...I'm hearing this in frequency assessing mode..I think the cymbals need to be brought up more to give the track that very high end shimmer....this is one of those tunes that make you feel good without you being really aware of it..I think it might have something to do with the subconscious ghosting lyrics to the melody or something similarly involuntary....I dig it..cheers planet
i always think my hats/cymbals are too loud, so i think i overcompensate and they all too often come out sounding muted lol. thanks for the critique...i'll boost em up a bit.
cheers for the listen! im so glad you liked what you heard...
Nice spread between the piano phrases...sometimes what you don't play is just as important as what you do..I also would like to see this piece expanded somewhat and some more of those atmospheric stormdrums...you definitely have a deft touch!..I think all the postulating about drinking and partying is a screen to deflect attention away from your sensitive side...hehe..great work..cheers planet
postulating sounds fun and yeah i have little control and 99% of my work goes into recycle but i love this site and i didnt like being banned but mr looperman gave me another go so now i just got to try and behave but as in life i find it difficult i love everyones music on here everything and over time those that matter will understand me xxx emily
Cool interpretation Ms.Plum....one of my best friends Campbell used to specialise in playing old piano's in pubs, did it up to almost the day he died....nothings better than real ambience and this has plenty of that...the hiss on this track can be removed easily you know then it would be really cool...cheers planet
Ahh Shojo nice to meet you....it's always nice to welcome a new Goddess!..a very cool tune indeed..do you have this on quick turnaround at the temple I wonder...a very spiritual and moving vocal journey through the percussive avenues your genes have obviously predicated for you....I was caught off guard when I heard there was a new deity in town...next time I will bring a suitable offering...cheers from one of your many future supplicants..planet
Hey Zappo...very cool tune indeed!..that guitar is way David Gilmoresque....there nothing in this track I don't like,it's very well put together and the trumpet passage is wonderful...excellent work!..cheers planet :)
Hey Damien.....man I like this one!..way trippy and the vocals are excellent!....this is a real fusion in many ways I can think of half a dozen different genres that this could fly it's flag under...this is even flirting with experimental nu-wave....very progressive and cool...top shelf in my book!..cheers Dave
Thanks Dave....hey I think I owe you a few reviews now...let me know when you put a new track up, I keep looking lol....yeah there is a fusion feel to this the more I think about it.
Cheers
I think this is pretty cool..I'd like to hear a breakdown or uptempo shift..welcome to Dada!..lol..I mean the art movement not your son....though he sounds very happy!..cheers planet :)
This is pretty damn spacey....it's got that natural drift..The thing about playing tight music that most people don't understand is that you have to be loose and flexible while doing it..Man,Estae is getting his act together in a big way..he's just letting it come out smooth and easy...it's not my place really to be commenting on Hip Hop but this is great music and I can appreciate the musical subtleties within it..though maybe not the mind set....great application and construction a cool tune in anyone's language..cheers planet
wow thxxx alot planetjazzbass hero for de reviewin' I always appreciate realtalk no matter what genre it comez from agree with u estae is really startin off ^^ blezz him much respect thx for your time! cheerz dusthill
Cool!..love that big tempo warp sweep, very effective....this track displays a great sense of timing and audio posture...making something work in a slow tempo is way harder than at a frenetic pace.....great work!..cheers planet
Hey nice vocalization..there's a good symmetry going on between the two of you..I was going to say the keys got a bit repetitive but just as I was thinking that you changed up to the harp sounding notes..lol...this is smooth..I think a little more variation in the music early on would help....but the flow is great and I dig the sound..man,I can't do this vocal stuff..great work!..cheers planet
Nice piano Daniel...being from England I bet your having a few winter sunsets to draw inspiration from,I hear you guys are nearly snowed under!acoustic guitar would have probably suited better but you did a good job pairing it up..very sensitive and it's great to see a classical composition..their in short supply! lol..cheers planet :)
thanks for the review planet and yes, I would have preffered acoustic classical guitar maybe. We have snow but its melting slowly leaving a dirty white landscape...not the ideal scenic material...
Ain't it the truth..we're all experimenting with stuff we know little about! lol..Very Cool track!..excellent mix on the production side...some nice little Doppler recesses all over the place, corners where the music is lingering after the beat has moved on.....I like this a lot,it's more of a happening than a song..it's got that intangible quality that's a key ingredient of cool sound.....top hole guys..cheers planet :)
Hey there mate...nice rockin groove..your being a little too polite in your lyrics to get this into the punk genre..lol and you didn't scream once! haha..seriously this is a great little tune,I enjoyed it immensely and it's so good to hear played instruments!..cheers planet :)
Thanks planet, prob sprain my vocal chords out if I tried to scream/sing,lol!! I hope to do a few more punk tracks, soon I hope(in the process of sorting out some new software and hardware right mow).
Clean track this....12 bar's have been around for ages and it's probably one of the hardest things to make one stand out...a cool vocal presence here makes this one special...uncluttered, which lets the voice project strongly...nice one! cheers planet :)
Thank you so much for taking your time to write all these reviews. For me loops are quite a new thing.I spent many years recording my songs on a 4 track recorder. Now,I like to use loops and all these softwares give you so many possibilities but still I love to use real instruments cause every take is unique with little imperfections sometimes, lol.
Cheers

Another great tune...with a clear and present style..man I wish I could sing..it must be great and very liberating..and this is floating on some cool guitar chugging ..I really dig that percussive metre your playing for rhythm ,it's solid (and bass players and drummers love it!)..cheers planet :)
Hey man..cool! Aahh I like this....this track has real appeal and it's catchy..(two of the most important elements of any piece of music in today's industry) sadly there's also the spectre of sex appeal..so if you get Lady GaGa to cover it you'll have a hit! lol...seriously this is great stuff and super enjoyable..I love that bass line from Mr Hump as well...Man I've been remiss not to listen to more of your tracks..I'll be attending to that!..cheers planet :)
Hi Sean....well I'm listening and yes it definitely needs a melody..however that's a relative term and depends from which perspective your coming from.....at the moment I'm hearing a rhythm base that potentially could cover a raft of genres but without any formal breaks or segues and here's the rub..it seems today people require a formula for everything especially music and if they don't find it they often reject it which to me defeats the whole purpose of listening in the first place, I'm quite happy to listen to the dawn chorus even with the intrusion of motor vehicles...My point is,irrespective of what elements you include there's always going to be pressure to conform to mainstream ideas which in your rhythmic case may not necessarily be the best direction to go...You've got a dynamic amorphous style that is organic,I don't think you need to second guess it, just as the wise ones say..Do unto others then split..cheers Dave
Dave - you're the man. You're absolutely right, and I've been seconding guessing my aesthetic when I really should be trusting my "craft." I'm thinking either a really minimal reoccurring riff or like "Dancing in the Dreamtime" a very present melody might arise in the last part of the song. I'll keep experimenting with this one. Thanks friend!
Great feeling inside this one!...it's interesting,I think most bands would be happy just with the backing track and lay some lyrics down then call it a day...and the result would be cool...however you use it as a launch pad for that amazing main squeeze of yours...everytime I hear one of these emotive tracks I learn something about the continuity of music, how fragile it is and how strong it can be....this is quite special..a beautiful piece...cheers Dave
Where oh where is Mr James Brown...he'd dig this stuff big time, come to think of it any singer would aspire to lay down on this groove...here's a simple equation..take one disproportionally gifted Yorkshire musician add a full woodwind compliment of instruments including guitar and bass...shake,rattle and roll and voilàyou have music that could only come from SlapJohnston....extraordinary!
Hey man heavy riffing on the bottom end..Cool!..I think the vocals are great!..just because it's an Electro tune doesn't mean it can't have a solid vocal presence..the funny thing is the vocals really make this track swing, there's an interesting cross pollination between the audio dynamics and voice, sort of like a call and response thing..if it was expanded with a more prominent chorus and female harmonies inserted you'd have a totally outrageous hit on your hands maybe..lol....interesting and fresh, with that dynamic almost live mix that's becoming your trade mark...great work!..cheers Dave :)
thanks Dave....interesting idea with the female harmonies, I will see if I can find some vocals that match. I have been fortunate enough to be getting some of my work, including this played on Fresh FM from sending in demo discs. They are now playing one or two tracks a week on their FreshAir program (supporting local artists). I hope all is well with you and you have a great 2010
Cheers

Hey nice one!..this has a really in your face mix very Live!..cool!...wicked bass line!... Stephanie's voice sounds very smooth but what I really like about this track is the almost perpetual turnaround happening not an easy thing to do and it never lets the energy drain off for a moment...excellent work from the South of Oz....(I bet you have a mirror ball somewhere! lol)...cheers Dave :)
I thought you might like the bassline.I swear the mirror ball was only put up for my son's birthday party! I just haven't got around to getting it down yet.
Thanks for listening and your review.

Hey Nathan my first listen to your music...cool!..I appreciate someone that does all their own instruments..yes this definitely has a dark edge to it especially the bass line (which is great)...semi industrial with a great flow, this track has a lot of possibilities for an extended version..it's got shimmer and sparkle in places as well...excellent work..cheers planet :)
Hey Ron....I love listening to a track that I know is going to influence me and become embedded in my subconsciousness....really fluid guitar, flying notes totally zoned..soaring over the the great bass and piano foundation..this sort of sonic make-up is best described like a seabird flying over the ocean, they are both separate yet the same and intimately connected...Felix was such a great influence and integral part of the great age of rock..It's amazing how your tapping into this power source and making it totally your own...incredible work mate!..cheers Dave :)
Thanks Dave. You are so kind. To receive such praise and encouragement from one I know understands is cause for inspiration. I'll keep working on this one for as long as it takes to find that mix that brings out the elements i wish to convey. Perhaps do some arranging as well to make this a proper song with changes and dynamics, etc. Till then, this is my vehicle for experimentation. Thank you for encouraging me to carry on Dave. Very much appreciated.
Cool!..I love the timing,a very sinuous twisting rhythm which puts out a shimmery spacey vibe..the guitar tone is great! almost an ebow with a half reversed phaser on....very entertaining and different..cheers planet :)
Hey Islan...cool groove!..I love the idea of an Elven Queen..and Eshar's voice does nothing to dispell that image...Super bass end sythn line...this one flows very well with excellent continuity..great frequency spread as well!...Excellent! cheers planet :)
