on Midnight In Ibiza-Unmastered Version by 15ludwicke
Very good control here! I'm surprised that this sounds so good and is the unmastered version. This sounds perfect as it is. Very great choice of instrumentation. Very capturing intro. The transition at 1:45 was incredible, with a nice timing gradual come back to the main body of the track. I also love the outro. Such a gentle and string-oriented farewell for the track. Marvelous work here, my friend! Truly looking forward to hearing the complete, mastered version!

on A Beautiful Day by kdlucas
Capturing, positive title. Remarkable instrumentation, and soothing, yet empowering voice. This altogether is a beautiful track. It has such a chilling and simple sound, yet such complex vocals and powerful choice of lyrics. This is absolutely well-rounded. Nothing needs to be changed. This is truly a masterpiece. Amazing!

on Cool Jazz by S1lver
This is beautifully constructed. Powerful bassline, and great work with the flute and brass instrumentation. This is one of my favorite genre's, and you absolutely did it justice. Nice control of your organs, and everything in general. I would love to be able to work with you in Jazz one day. Keep this up please. I'm begging you. :)

Haha. What's funny is that all these instruments are parts that I made and had electronically done. I do play trombone and it would be so much fun be in a jazz band. Thank you!

on Do you hear the sounds - featuring Farisha by clindsay
Interesting work here! Very creative. I can't say I've heard anything like this before. I can't really say anything needs to be changed or altered. The vocals from the different songs sounds clean together. This isn't really pop though, but I can't think of any other genre this might be. Nice job!

Powerful stuff right here! Your guitar/bass playing is very professional sounding. I'd be shocked if it's not the case. There is a quality difference with your guitar/bass and your drums. I'm sure your guitar and bass was played live, and is not synthetic. Your drums may be, however that is fine. Might I recommend using a specific reverb setting on whatever program you use. Preferably something such as "Big Room" where the drums can have that more realistic sound, as oppose to it sounding...not robotic persay, but to clean. And there's nothing wrong with getting a little dirty. ;)

Nevertheless, I absolutely enjoyed this! Faved! Take care, and keep this up!

Thanks Ookami, yeah I agree the drums need better treatment to sound "live" and fit in more. Will have to work on my drum production skills. Appreciate you taking the time to listen and leave a comment.

on Number One Champion - WIP by RampatheSwift
Creativity is power. Remember that. And this was track displays just that. This is has many flavors. Reggae and Trap influences indeed, as DJ-SLT-UK mentioned. I liked this alot. Very interesting how this came together. I cannot say I've heard anything like this, but for my first time of this type of infused genre, I am very VERY pleased. I'm not sure what I can say as far as improvement, for the song sounds great in my ears. Keep this up, man! If you want to work on this track with others, I'd love to be able to help in any way. Faved, and peace!

Hey cheers Ookami for the words of wisdom! Really means a lot. I don't really know where this track is going to go from here, or where the idea even came from haha, but i'll keep you in mind if i need a different perspective! Otherwise, i am keen to collaborate on something in future =]

on Marraquexe by XmafaX
This was...incredibly constructed! The intro was just different. It had that non western feeling. Middle East type sound. Then at 1:12. Such a perfect, sexy transition. This track couldn't receive a fav fast enough. The woman vocals are trilled beautifully throughout various areas. Nice precise instrumentation. Amazing track, fellas. Looking forward to more!

on Modnex - A Mouse Journey by Modnex
I absolutely love how you made this song from a mouse. The song tells a story which fits perfectly with what you've told us in the description. It has a simplistic sound, but also is bouncy and fun to listen to. Your motivation levels are very high. I'm glad I was able to listen to this. Your piano patterns were executed beautifully. As if the piano resembled the mouse, perhaps? Nevertheless, nice track!

on HALLOWEEN HIP HOP INSTRUMENTAL BEAT by DeLaBeatz
Damn, this is tight. A great holiday-themed track, with a nice flow. Those vibe synths are very effective on here which gives it that initial Halloween type feel, and then the beat patterns add that trap flavor in. Sweet track, man.

I like the simplicity of this. I can understand the concept you have here as well. Massive is a great VST isn't it? I'd love to do a remix of this. Would you be interested in that? With a concept like this one, it has absolute potential. Until next time, take care!

on What Dance by clindsay
This track was created strictly by loops, yes? Most of the loops well together in perfect sync, however, some of them create a delay with each other. The track ends up correcting itself though. I'm thinking there is some loops at certain bpm, and then other loops maybe be a a second (Or even several miliseconds) off from the initial loop. Nevertheless, the creativity is very powerful and I enjoyed this.

Thanks - some of this was done to create a slight offset but I'll listen again to correct where applicable.

A complex and fun track! This is very bouncy, and the synths you've chosen is very nice. The kicks are a bit heavy, but it fits with this track in my eyes (or ears, shall I say.) Nice melodies and the patterns are great. Nice mix!

on Dont Keep Your Love Away Parts 1 and 2 by EricMilligan
This is an incredible piece. It's not common for one to listen to such intense yet gentle piece. Orchestra is a true genre that requires concentration, and this is just outstanding what you did. Melletron is a very nice VST that I've attempted, but I've never been able to successfully use it. You made it sound very realistic. Overall, both part 1 and part 2 are masterpieces. Beatles-like, but still with your own style. Happy to have heard such track. Looking forward to part 3.

EricMilligan
EricMilligan replied 8th Oct 2014 - 11 years ago
Yes, the Mellotron is a very interesting instrument for sure. It has a unique sound I guess due the fact that in the original instrument, the 10 second tape loops that were triggered by each key had a certain amount of wow and flutter. Never did sound totally realistic. Mostly, this track uses the "flute" preset on the Mellotron VST. The other orchestral instruments are from sampler VSTs and they do sound more realistic. I'm still not very good at using the keyswitches to control articulation on these kinds of VSTs. I think it is possible to get a much more realistic sounding orchestral mix than I am managing to achieve. But, its definitely better than I used to be able to do, even a year ago. So, I guess the lesson here is that we just need to keep creating and experimenting. :)

Tight beat. I like this. My only thing is that it's short. Otherwise, you lengthen this, add some more to it, and it'd be great. Cheers!

on The forgotten symphony by johnnyproducing
Very nice and subtle track. Very smooth and nicely composed. The piano and strings gave a gentle, yet powerful feel. The percussion choice is interesting because in various areas of your track, it gave a type of hip-hop feel, especially with the hat and clap patterns. This is incredible how you merged all these sounds together in such a dark, yet gracious way. Cheers!

on Sphere of Light ft Janis 71 Ferryterry by promenade2239
Alright, some Jazz! Very nice and gradual, sexy intro. Very capturing and smooth, instantly. At 1:11, there's a slight progression to a slight dance style beat, but the keys are still very powerful and doing its thing. Then soon, the Sax comes in, and this new transition beat comes on hardcore. It's not perfect with each other beat wise, but in Jazz like this, that's not needed. Everything flows perfectly. Then at 3:41, everything drops but the percussion and keys. Afterwards some nice smooth vocals, along with this (sounds like) improve synth-like sound. The outro is very nice. It transitions into a dance-like beat, then into a slow jam type, then back into its dance-like beat. Incredible track!

I think the vocals work beautiful with this incredible instrumental. The strings are smoothing which compliments the nice vocals. The piano work is also a good addition. The bass is constant with the beat, and the synths are done in a delayed pattern nicely. Please, take my fave! Lovely track!
