I really like this.
I can imagine my favourite artist of all time (Tom Waits) doing this.
Sounds excellent.
The only bit I'm not keen on is the tantrum toward the end ... I've lost nothing!Nothing nothing nothing!
Doesn't suit the very emotional and masculine vibe.
Thank you, silverman. Please tell Mr. Tom to give me a call, he can sing it all day if he wants. I will consider that tantrum at the end and probably give that part another go for a little different vibe there. I appreciate the feedback a lot. Thank you!
Hi Metabolic, thank you for your listen and feedback. I like your ideas and I'll mess around with it some more. New genre? It's just stuff I like to do, and then I wonder if anyone else will like it or just think it's weird, or even think it's music, so I'm very glad to hear that you like it. I'll let you know when I post a new draft. Thanks again.
Redneck hip hop!! I love it! Have you invented a new genre?? Seriously I listened to this all the way through so Im probably going to have nightmares now! This would make an excellent soundtrack to a scary movie! Very haunting indeed! You have worked the vocals (round the track??) very well and the production is spot on! Very nice work here my friend!
The world definitely needs some new genres. I dread scrolling through the list and having to pick one; my stuff never seems to fit anywhere, and hey maybe that's the problem. The absolutely hilarious thing is that I never ever thought I was doing something scary. But now that I listen back to it, it's like, Duh. So you gave me insight into my own work, my friend. Maybe that's why I have a hard time with genre - I don't know what the hell I'm doing. Oh well, it's still fun. Thank you for your kind comments. The one about the production makes me happy cuz I always struggle with Audacity to get the mix right, tweak after tweak. Sorry about the nightmares!
Hello,
Thank you, sir! An oldie and a weirdie. Funny, I didn't really know what I was doing back then (and still likely don't) so I think I stacked everything up right in the middle back then, just a big stack of sound in the center. Now I spread things out. Anyway, I guess this was me being influenced by dubstep.
Thank you! Yeah, Sunny is mad good. 26, and she's been playing blues for 20 years. Real deal kinda stuff. Such an inspiration to work with her. Glad you like it!
Thank goodness for online language translators, since my French is a little...nonexistent. Yes, perspiration, dust, it's all in there, some dance moves, a giggle or two, and some spit and snot. Thank you for your comment, I appreciate it!
It sounds like you guys were in the middle of a creative storm here. Everything sounds organic and cool. And what a great voice. It's still pleasantly simmering around my brain after the song ends. Definitely a fav
Yeah, we went a bit crazy. I wrote the songs as fast as I could just to hear her sing and play them. Way fun. Now long gone, the experience, but still a bunch of songs left to make videos for, which I also enjoy. Thanks for your kind comment. So appreciated!
Sorry I've been so delinquent in my reply but thank you! I appreciate you! If you want to SEE the song, here's a video I made: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vTXDOYVJMO0&list=PLwqrYdLC9-Z5qkDNGCjbM0_Q2RNZKwBeN

You've put together a mix of influences that all gel together and seem to works pretty good together but it is certainly different sounding. At first it had an alternative rock feel to me but at the same time the music was more geared towards the electronic side of music making. Music in the early/mid 80's was taking on this feel but this is still different from that. Maybe it has a more futuristic sound than a retro one though, technology shining through and helping out to shape the sound.
Dear Wayne, I like how you put it and I think you're right. This, as probably all my music, comes out of a soup of influences that's really just the stuff I grew up listening to, which goes back across the last 5 or 6 decades. Different to me is a good word. I long ago accepted the fact that I'm strange, weird, and odd. That this piece is maybe a bit baffling musically I'm ok with. In the end we just make stuff we like to listen to, pretty much, and this is one I would crank up on the road to Vegas.
I like this .... a lot.
But .... you probably won't like my take on it Mofo.
To me this is very dark ... weird creepy.
I hear a psychopathic murderer luring someone in to a bloody axe swinging party .... for two.
It's half past five in the morning I'm outof bed because it's just to hot to sleep and the first thing I play is this and I'm going back to bed after this cup of tea.
I'm going to fave this and I'm coming back to it later to see if it still has the same affect on me.
Brilliant.
Thank you, Silverman. Yes there's a psychopathic murderer lurking in there with a bloody axe, who looks a little like the German ancestors of me except that I actually wouldn't hurt a fly. Well, ok a fly. That grinding bass, which to some might be ugly, to me is beautiful because it expresses a true state of being which is being worked through with great effort. To trust someone in this world of betrayals is an act of great daring and a terrible psychic challenge - so that's what that music is all about. I guess you could say I was working through some stuff when I wrote that song - and still am - and probably always will be. Thanks as always for your perceptive and interesting feedback!
nice track with a dark atmosphere. i like the orchestral aspect with the instrumental part. I like the contrast of the voice which is sometimes soft sometimes strong.
So.... a big wow, musically and artistically. You were able to bring across the pain and confusion brilliantly in the music. So the strings were developing and becoming more and more dissonant, I kept thinking I hope he clarifies it with a defined key towards the end (A happy ending I guess), but what you did was to minimize it again around 1:48 and bring it back down to the string plucks, which works just as well. It tells me musically your not over this one, but your trying desperately to break free from the pain that your relationship had caused you. And so musically your not ready to let go in a joyful way yet.
great work. Awesome vox and harmonies.
Cru
Thanks, Cru, your reading of the song is actually more brilliant than the song, and it taught me some things about the song, which is way cool. We don't know really know why we do these things, I guess, when we do them, so your insight is very helpful for me to hear the song more objectively. Also, as a writer, I'm highly trained, but in making music, I'm totally intuitive. So thank you for your thoughtful comment!

I don't know what to think of this.
I like it.
"Nothing, nothing, nothing" I would add some fx as is fades.
"I've lost nothing" I'd add a big single kick/boom just after that, i'd fit somewhere around 2:00, in my head it sounds reverberated.
I think a few "cinematic" addition would make this much more.
