very very cool production...what I very much like in your works that those are very simple songs with huge work on the producing side...this is a good example too...one themed song but never gets boring...and don't talk about that voice...
Thank you, Danke. That comment warms my heart. I used to write complex, wordy songs that were hard to follow. Over time I simplified things to their basics. It's all about structure for me now, and feeling, and mood. And of course Sunny is the perfect collaborator because she too is about clear lyrics and simple melodies. Well, we have finally finished the Sunny Sessions and I've posted all 55 songs at thesunnysessions.com. Please check them out sometime. Thank you!
Hi silverman. Thanks for the listen and comment. You must have read my profile, which is quite old. I still work in Audacity to write the songs and orchestrate the loops in a full composition. But then with Sunny we've recorded in a studio - I save all the tracks as separate wavs, we load them up in ProTools and off we go. I couldn't produce this level of quality at home with Audacity. So I got back to spending $ on production because I had to. Thank god we finished the Sunny Sessions a couple weeks ago because I just got laid off, so no more $ on music. But we're done and you can check out all 55 tracks at thesunnysessions.com if you like. Thanks!
Nice little number.
Reminds me of someone and I can't think who.
It'll come to me and I'll let you know.
Using audacity must be a bind.
It's an editing suite more than a song compilation set up.
Ever tried acid?
Acid 7 markets at around a hundred and fifty hundred and seventy five dollars.
Go on Amazon .... quickly because when people see this there'll be a mad rush ... acid 8 is round fifteen dollars and does more or less the same thing.
It won't recognise USB midi only the old fashioned MIDI in out sound card thing.
But loops and line in are all there.
I'm amazed you could produce this well on Audacity alone.
Another one is Magix who have actually bought out Sony Acid. They do a free one no time limits but I think it's only eight tracks.
Powerful software though.
If you can be this good on such meagre resources I look forward to you getting better gear.
Nice piece here. The vocals and guitar are superb, and the mix brings that out. My favorite part was the guitar section around 2:10, that was so smooth. All around good job!
Thank you, my friend. Something like "Breathless" - yes, let's do it. We struggled in the studio last night and I had to abandon a track. But this one came easy. Danke as always for your support!
Thanks, Billion. Glad you stopped by, and appreciate the comment. We've got guitar songs that span the range from the prettiest acoustic to the hardest raging psychedelic blues rock, which we've been working on the last 4 months. I mean, that's what you do when you're collabing with a guitar goddess, right? Thanks.
I'm Citizen Mofo, the looperman member. Sunny's not on looperman. You can check Sunny out on youtube, facebook, sunnywar.com, etc., and contact her through those. Note that she's a paid session singer/player for me and I pay her well. Thanks.
So much potential!
Takes me back many years to something somewhere.
Don't know what it is where it is or when it was but you pressed a button.
Fantastic feeling but something doesn't quite sound right.
Problem is I'm listening on pc speakers just now. They are BnO but they're still only pc speakers.
I'll have a listen later on something bigger.
Great atmosphere.
Thanks, Silverman! I'm a silverman too, or silverback as I prefer, so appreciate the comment from one to another. What doesn't sound quite right? Please let me know if you figure it out. Thanks!
Yeah loops are malleable that way. It's a cool loop - sounds like a simple piano figure yet there's that weird squelching sound embedded in it. How could one NOT use it? Sometimes all it takes is a loop like that and you're off and running on a burst of inspiration. Long live looperman!
Awesome track CitizenMofo and a wonderful collaboration between you and Sunny War! It has a very laid back vibe and it took my ears on a really cool journey. The mix sounds pretty good too. This one's a Fav. Truly nice work.
Thanks, Shatner! Sunny's the best collaborator I could hope for. I can write a song like this and imagine what it will sound like with her vocals and guitar, and then it always sounds way better than I even imagined. And we can knock something like this out in 2 hours - no rush, just moving through it step by step. I'm a very happy songwriter right now. Thanks for your listen and comment.
Thank you, kind lady! Yeah it really pushes me as a songwriter working with Sunny because the songs have to be worthy of that voice. And of course her masterful guitar. Thank you for your listen and comment!
Thank you! I worked hard on this orchestration so I'm glad you appreciated it. And of course, as always, Sunny shines. Thanks for taking the time to listen and comment!
You guys are still cooking up some great stuff....it sure is a hell of a lot better than my radio plays...top class...different in the best of ways...mix sounds fine to me CitizenMofo, but my ears are not as reliable as they used to be...I just crank it up & it sounds good....fav....Ed
Thanks, Ed. We've done about 30 songs now in 4 months. Kinda going for it. Sunny amazes me every time. We just did a song on Friday, FOREVER AND A DAY, that blew my mind what she did with that guitar. I'll post it soon. Special time for me...and a long time comin'.
StaticNomad, you reveal the inner workings of my own songs to me like no one else. It's always interesting how you break it down, and really makes me think about my own stuff a little harder (another hair past obsession). And that is a very very good thing. Thank you thank you thank you for your comments and help. (Yeah, the ending's only decent - gonna maybe play with that a bit in our session tonight...)
Hi Danke, the loop in question is looperman-l-0671112-0079862-danke-low-tuned-metal-riff. It was 80bpm but I upped it to 88. Sunny plays a similar lick, but I think it still needs to be louder. So thanks for providing one of the seeds for this tune, and for the listen and the feedback, as always!
Hello Mofo.
Wow mate I do love the voice in this track.
The drum at the beginning it sound like heaven.
I absolutely love it and can't wait for the album to be released.
Really well done to you mate bravo.
it's a fav.

Thanks, pal. Yeah, Sunny can sing, and Sunny can play. We've got a session tomorrow and that might be the last song for the album - I'm still working out the final line-up. This is the best thing I've ever done, thanks to Sunny's help, and so I don't want to mess it up. I really appreciate your input and kind comments, keeps me going!
Hello Mofo,
Wow the guitar sounds awesome.
Your vocal is out of this world delivering your message coherently.
absolutely perfect track mate.
Really well done.

Thank you, Jamid. The great Sunny War on vocals and guitar. Very inspiring for me in my songwriting to be working with her. Thank you for your ears and your comment!

Solid beat to kick things off, a big fill and then busy vocals and guitar enter. Pretty energetic, appealing stuff. A fat sound and good groove.
1:05 a little bit of a break from the intensity plus some new, dirty guitar weirdness.
Around 1:30 bass sound really solid.
1:40 her harmonised voice sounds great! Nice wah and 1:49 panned synth is really powerful and dark.
Very busy mix (something I do a lot) but everything seems pretty well ordered.
2:54 nice drop back into the funkier beat. Good mix of deep groove hip hop and weirder, dirtier, grungier guitar music
A decent ending and conclusion to a powerful piece of alternative music.
Congrats.
