This is some of the finest funk I've ever heard! Those horns sound top notch, and the guitar riffing is spectacular! Hah! I'm loving these solos, too groovy! Very nice work in every way! Faved for sure!
Loved the cosmic sounding intro and the talk box at the end; simply ecstatic about everything else in between. Great to listen to sax playing done right and you do it right, man. Fine, fine, fine. -Ken
This is so well done! I love the vibe and energy of the instrumentation. SUPER FUNKY! This song is cool in every way. Great arrangement and excellent mix. Very nice work!
Nice job Slap. Yeah funky in a big band way. A little James Brown. A little Bootsie. I love the bass. I'd make it a little fatter with some compression perhaps. I want to hear that percussion pop and that bass phat! This is a nice commercial piece(and that's a good thing).
Aahhh I just got up....(well hours ago actually but lets not interrupt my line of thought)...Where's my velvet blue dressing gown..where's a hat with a feather in it..give me some gold bling...that's better!..now..I can really get into the mood of this Funkster groove properly...It's quite simple really, there's a lot of funky things in life however without those super slick horn transitions into the groove most of us plebs will never achieve it...Brilliant free flowing funk straight from the source!..the flute is such a delight to hear, you can 'see' it literally taking off.......Super and superb...Touching on Alexander's and other kids bullying problems..I'd like to see every school employ a big dude pimped out in full funk regalia..trucking around the school yard with a ghetto blaster on his shoulder pumping out this tune...just looking for bullying and meeting out summary justice with a funky gleam in his eye....awesome tune!..cheers Dave :)
Holy funk! This is so good. Makes me wanna get up and dance. There is nothing normal about this, extraordinary work on all ends of the track. Slapping the funk outta those bullies with this one. Fav no doubt.
Hi Kid, thanks for the groovamaster tag, not a bad title actually. I've been called a masturbator before lol...But groovamaster is way better..I will drop by and give some of your tracks the once over real soon...
Hi Wayne, Bootsy Collins is the man for funk bass. Mind you, we have our own version of bass hero on this site, Mr Planet... Considering it's me thumping on the bass, I will take the Bootsy comment as a huge compliment...
Cheers Slap...
really dig the rythym line, very haunting yet unthreatning, maybe less distortion on one of those guitars or bass or something back there otherwise really well done, respect.
THIS IS the daylightiest strolling on the perfect day track I've heard in so long. What wonderful expressions of love. Very moving when it moves into the part with the guitar riff, brother. VERY VERY MOVING> It hasn't stopped moving me yet, really fast. Great work friend. This is a track to behold.
Eh up lad..crackin' tune!...It's worth the wait to hear some real music...Excellent intro with the acoustic and the rest, well it reminds me of many images but the main thing is the dynamics for me,I don't think there's any other music I've heard that remotely embraces your ability to actually get a track off the ground and flying,it's the woodwinds of course and your amazing control,I've said it before, the music actually breathes quite beyond the processes of blowing into a bent piece of brass..lol seriously though the second heavier transition in the later stages is a masterful stroke..it carries the work beyond a set piece into the realms of a great composition.....quite inspiring and sublime!..cheers Dave :)
A fabulous track shining out from the noise of wannabes. You know I'm a percussion fiend, so my double thumbs up here should carry some weight. I love the arrangement here - the drums and shakers are at EXACTLY the right level and really emphasize what else is going on. In other words, for me that flute really stands out precisely because of the percussion you've got supporting it. And your sax playing...I understand the expression about "giving up my left nut" when I hear this kind of playing. I love the quality of musical "dialog" throughout this piece. A favorite to be sure.
Hi n0mad, thank you for the glowing review. I have to agree with you on noise wannabies.. Throw some loops together with no thought of key and develop a huge ego.. I feel what with your love of precussion (as shared by myself also), we should do a collaboration.. If you could put together some form of track I would gladly lay down some melodies....
This does rock tho!! Definitely feels good. Probably the funnest most kick a$s vibe i've ever heard on the site!! The energy in this really comes across. Vry cool man.
I want a skunk. Wait I already have one don't I?
what's a skunk? I might be making a fool of myself playing around with the word without knowing what it means. :)
It could mean so many things.
Oh jeez. It's not even skunk is it. It's skank.
:D Grrreat jam whatever it is. Cheers.
So just listened to it with my buddy and it is indeed skunk!! Cool.
Hi Califken, I'm glad you liked this track. I have to admit it's one of my fav's. A skank is a dance by the way. The lyric is everybody ska skank not ska skunk. I think that's quite a funny image though, a ska skunk...
SOOOO is this sax harmonization I'm hearing? Beautiful and cool.
SLAP your voice SHHHi. You just knocked me back all over again. Just cuz you're making my mind spin with your good stuff here, I'm having ideas ... like with your voice and the sax, you should do something that blends from one to the other in a delicately cohesive way ... kinda like you sing "You made me feel ..." and as you sing a fade out of feel, the sax fades in and you play on the sax how you feel. That would be awesome.
Love your voice, both through just yourself and through your sax. Is there a clever nickname for a sax? like a guitar is an axe? cuz i would have used it.
Hey Slap..a great 'up' piece....light and emotive, full of heaps of space and reflection..there's so much music that's right in your face these days and it's a pleasure to listen to something that has charm and a delicate sensibility about it,being an improvisational melody it has that wonderful reality that only comes from the heart....beautiful touch and very cool to boot..cheers Dave :)
