This is great! So nice to hear this recorded live, the playing was really on. The piano solo in the middle got me, Richard had some real nice fills too!! Thanks for sharing these sessions!
It feels like time-warping into that moment right between Big Band and Jazz. The jazz sensibility you guys are jacked into is fantastic! I totally agree with PBJ about the restraint shown by your drummer - totally happening track! Faved.
Hey guys I love this..it's so Live!(haha I know that sounds lame)but you don't get much live material on this site and it's a welcome relief seeing and hearing people actually playing instruments together! lol..for a first take,I dips me lid...everything went smoothly with everyone getting a look in...also great presence of mind by the drummer Luke in playing with controlled restraint, how many times in a quick recording situation do the drums overpower everything..though thank god for jazz drummers who actually have some musical sensibilities..lol (apologies to all you rock drummers out there!)haha....I really dig this and can't wait to hear your next offering...cheers planet :) (and I might add that the recording quality of this track is very cool!)
Hey Steve so great to hear the father son combo, your son is amazing, his calling is music and he has a great father musician to look up to, what a great jam, you did a great job on arranging the drums and the procution is spotless, just agreat track from the Slap and Son, here a name for the duo, lol.
the soul-saxophone guy is back !! (and son !!). This track grooves along and the mix is well-balanced. I imagine yr house to be one cool place where all kinds of music is happening, long may you continue. very enjoyable listen. thanks for posting.
Another great track from you, everything here is so groovy, really soulful music.Agree with Spivkurl about the real instrumentation.Great arrangements and mixing

Now this is some real funk! It's cool to hear some real instrumentation, so much of what's on the loop is all sequenced (including most of what I do lol). This track really puts a smile on my face! I love how all the instruments compliment eachother so well, this is mixed great! Really enjoyable track! Thanks for sharing!
Simply brilliant! The bass sounds great, I'll have to try to add the wah wah to the bass and see if I can get it to sound remotely as good as yours. You guys are pure talent and such a joy to listen to!
oh .... hot hot hot brother.. I've always loved to listen to the funk.. George Clinton and Parliament greatest hits are some of the most regular albums on in my house.. much to the wife's disgust!! this is just flawless brother great production.. must have taken you ages.. those levels are perfect.. nice one.. keep 'em coming brother
Hey Slap, its been a long time. Another great piece, not a surprise really, given your talent, but still needs to be said. Love this piece as much as I love everything you do. 19\10
I used some of your flute and sax loops in a piece I called Faith. If you can, listen and let me know what you think.
Hey man is Riff Laden related to Osama?.....you can take all the guitars,piano's,etc....take all those instruments that are multi timbrel, create chords and are generally regarded as polyphonic and put them to one side...nothing beats a horn section..nothing! all other musical impact statements fall short....the term 'blown away' has a literal meaning here...this track is one of the 'filthiest' bad arsed tunes I've heard in a month of Sundays...makes a person breathless just listening to it! sheesh...cheers Dave :)
You know it's probably the hardest thing blues wise in my opinion to make a twelve bar sound fresh and interesting...you and Alexander have gone way past that!..hard driving, solid and way forceful...tres cool dudes!..cheers Dave
Simply great! Between you and his new school teaching him, Alexander is already an accomplished player and is so impressive at such a young age. I love the funky feel to this and the overall mix and feel to this is amazing. Awesome job guys!!
Hi Steve,
Another nice groovy track from you.Your style reminds me of all these great 70's soul/funk artists and a bit of Bowie too.
Great playing and feel all way through
Cheers

I am impressied with your productions! This one kind takes me back to the 70s. I used to listen to a lot of Jazz when I was really little. Used to love the stuff. Apparently I still do because you and your sons playin' got me moving. I listened to the whole song. Very nice production. You should definitely be going somewhere with songs like these! Keep up the great work.
Hi GJ, I love the band Super Funk as well as Sly and the family stone, so maybe these songs are a tribute to 70's funk in a way. Influence is a great thing to use, but it's bad to copy. I think I have used influence as my basis... Thanks for the review.
well this is my frist reviewing on u Mr slap Jhonson i've seen ur name a lot since ur a SUPERSTAR member(I can see why)ur song is tight and funky, very jazzy, this is the kinda music my uncle and grandfather make so i can dig it.but my style more into the techno-club genre.
Hi DJNS, thanks for dropping by and sampling some of my work. Your older family members sound like a cool bunch to have around. I also dig techo and house, so I will try and drop by to give your creations a listen.
