Yea definately make the beginning a little shorter. Unfortunately and I do it to....alot of money making tracks have they're point made in the 1st 2 mins.
Thats said wicked little listen. Brought back the old skool trance loved up days for me, and wapped it into a lusheous moving melody.
    Well Done indeed boyo

Your probably right, I should probably shorten this one a bit, or just lengthen it out so that it feels more like a full track. definately glad you liked it, will check out some of your stuff.

Sorry for the late reply, the loops been down, and so has my internet.

Stephen I agree this sounds like a good start. Never made any d&b but used to listen to enough back in the day. Sounds ripe for some crazy break to come in and a change up. There's always vox to give extra dimension. I read that you have someone on board so I look forward to hearing the finished article.

Back in the day I used to love PFM. Here are a couple of their tracks. Hope they can inspire u.

Really epic bunch of tracks, thanks for sharing, I'm a massive fan of this style of music, but its only now that I've been able to produce it to what I consider to be a decent standard.

    Thanks for dropping by!

This is a very good start... I love this kind of DnB. Many a night I would get out of my face listening to this kinda stuff .

I'm not the best when it comes to DnB (at all) and I've only ever made one track in this genre but I'd be willing to give it a try :)

I have a DnB track here which is a couple of years old now and I've learned a lot since then: https://www.looperman.com/tracks/detail/90912

I'm interested, but I've got someone on this song already, so I'll check with the guy I'm collabing with to see if he minds if we make it a 3 way collab, and if he doesn't mind, then sure :D

Cool Stephen. I like the intro.. Not bad at all. I see potential in this. I like the filter on the drum loop and on the pad as well. Maybe layer the drums a bit. Or add in more drums for variety. Add in some more elements that compliment the bass and pad. Bring in the drop a bit heavier too. Maybe a sweep riser for the build up and drops. I'm sure somebody will contact you for a collab. I'm busy with projects at the moment otherwise I'd help ya out :) Good luck bro.. It's a good start!!!

    Play 2 now...

I def hear what yer saying about not wanting to overwrite the original work doc (I often will do the same thing, doca, docb, docc). Though what I end up doing is going with the doc that feels like its got the best groove (might consider following yer lead with posting the diff versions). And its kind of a shame that this track is so short, because it has such a sweet vibe to it (especially starting @ around 0:43 & 0:60 , my fav parts of this BTW). You plan on continuing work on this one? Lemme know if ya do mate. Def has potential. Lates!

I actually, for a third time started completely over with this track back in April, which is (I think) my longest track to date. Again, a compeltely different feel to this version of the song, and I've gone crazy with it. If you wanna check it out, you can click here:

    Play 2 now...

About the Vocoded stuff, you can bump 'em up by doubling/tripling the number of layers you have for them (ie, pan 1 100% left, middle centered, pan 3 100% right, & possibly bump up all by +3 on the mixer). And the FX are pretty nice. So is the stuttered piano. Beyond that, the only other thing I could suggest is maybe adding some distort to a copy of one of yer synths (to give it a faux Rock vibe, if ya wanna take this in a harder direction w/fiercer kicks, etc.). Anyways, cool stuff mate. Lates!

At first, I didn't know what to make of it. When it there was more beats, I like it. The beat and melody was very nice. It has a little groove going. The vocals are not bad either, I think it's at the volume it should. It could be a louder if you want. Great job. Keep it up. :)

Glad you liked it. I tried making the volumes louder, but sadly, even if I only boosted one thing, it made the track sound too distorted.

The intro is amazing. Love the panned (and phased?) drum sounds and the pads are just gorgeous. One tiny bit of advice would be to add some reverb to those drums at the start..just a hint here or there because it sounds a bit dry until the pads really come in. The rest is just a lovely journey...I was a little apprehensive when I saw you've named it "extended vocal mix" thinking I'd hear you singing about love or sunsets or unicorns or whatever (nothing personal, I've just heard far too many electronic songs ruined by trite lyrics and weak singing), but you've used your voice more as an additional instrument and it works really, really well here. Can't really say much about the mastering because I'm listening to this on headphones, but it sounds fine to me.

Really good stuff, this. Love the whole vibe of this track...extremely soothing without ever being boring. Well done.

    StephenPotter
    Reply by StephenPotter

Yeah, the drums at the start were phased. I was going to add reverb, but when I tried it the drums seemed to get drowned out, or the pads did, so I never got it quite right, not gonna go back and re-visit this one now, cause I think its time I left this track in the past.

The "extended" part was just to show that I've finally made a song that isn't two minutes long, and the vocals.. speak for themselves. I didn't want my vocals too far into the foreground, so they aren't louder than any of the other instruments.

    Really glad you enjoyed it!

Nice song, good job on making it with only 4 tracks! The bass is great and i like all the dive bomb sounds, but the wobbles seem a tad offbeat at points. Its not too bad though. Like others have said i like how you've fused trance into there a bit as well. All in all great job!

Sorry for the late reply. Glad you liked the track. I'm trying to fix the wobbles: the problem is that they're slightly unquantised by a fraction of a step, and it starts to delay after a while. I'll try and fix that soon though.
