Very tight drums. Gives it definetly a deephouse kind of feel. Your vocals give the track the Mr Joe-taste which stays unique on its own. The minimalistic approach of this remix is yet another nice production from your side.
Nice to read that you could enjoy the listen :)
Sounds like i done all so the way i wanted to do.
A bit deep/dark, just minimal synth work, some cool sounding vocals and everything is done ..... i always wonder why i need so much time when it comes to minimalistic stuff.
Why do I find your voice so mesmerizing? I have no clue what youre saying and yet I'm still drawn to it. I really like the deep bass hit and the simple synth activity. A little bit of haunting with a big load of chill and dark :P
Thanks for your nice words Brado.
I don't know what it is with my voice but i am happy that it is like it is :)
If you wanna know what i am singing just take a look in the lyrics, english translation included.
Nice to know that you enjoyed the listen
Ready for some blues Joe? I've been trying to give you a break, as well as finish up some guitars myself, so you could do some of your electronic music like this B-) Very dark, just how I like it. I like that violin and the eerie sound fx. Too many labels for music now a days... I feel hyptotized O.O
Ready for take off. Just send me something and i will start doing "handmade" music with you :)
Incredible how much time i needed to make this one but i think i done 100000 recordings and mostly every time something went bad or i just hated what i done.
I also really like this violin line and sure all this dark ambiente sound fx's ....
Nice to read that you enjoy the listen.
I would Call this more Dark Pop, but this song could easily be remixed as a deep house tune as it has certain elements that deep house needs to make it deep house, but in it's current form it's not deep house. Creepily good though my teutonic friend.
Cru
Maybe you are right but here on looperman there is only a Pop genre and that wouldn't fit really without a Dark in front :) (i think i have to ask Mr. Looperman himself for a Joe Cramer genre)
Nice to know that you liked it
the real power is delivered from 'inside' your vocals and this tune sounds really cool - it is so very powerful on the energetical level.
I've made a very different version by transforming your vocal into something more abstract-sounding. Really trying to keep it 'minimal' as I can. I hope you will like it somehow https://www.looperman.com/tracks/detail/175637
Your music and your use of the vocals are really excellent!
And i don't only like them, i really love them.
You done something very special and in a way i never could do it. I am happy that you worked with my vocals on this great track.
this one is beautiful, joe! I'm so glad I heard this collab, its an excellent twist from the original. Your skills are improving a lot so kudos to you for that as well :)
Oh, thanks a lot Brado.
What a friendly comment.
What can i say? Just - i am glad that we could entertain you
I am happy that you like this mix. When i work with Burt it is like we done it already for years. That make things really much easier.
It is always a good feeling to read something nice from a skilled musician like you.
Something special as always ! Also this time the vocal delivery gives to the song very distinct carachter...
Essentialy typical blues, yet emphasized with undeniable
progressive accent! Very well done !!
I am pleased that we were able to satisfy you again.
Finally, I could not sing otherwise, as exactly this way on Burts song. At least not this lyrics.
Always a pleasure to read a friendly comment from your hands.
Thanks a lot.
Hello Jamid
Nice to see you back.
Always good to know that you found once in a while time to listen to some music here on looperman.
Good to hear that you could enjoy our collaboration.
If you have some time you should check out our last track that Burt and me done together. - Once - cause it looks like you where not around when it was on featured tracks.
I bet you will like it http://www.looperman.com/tracks/detail/175094
Thanks for the nice comment and the time you take yourself to listen to our little blues song
This is a very nice song! I can really appreciate a kind of a natural ambiance and a 'live performance' sound-image of the recording that Rhodesy mentioned. I think you achieved some good recording results - for this kind of music some rusty low sound qualities are much better even, I guess.
Did you use any special reverb or just captured the natural room ambiance? This sounds good and very convincing.
Overall the song is much more a 'narrative' or 'melodic speech' because the actual melody consists of just few notes (without actual 'blue' notes) but it works fine and it probably fits better your type of songwriting. Slow tempo and the low pitched voice make the song sound quite dark (regarding to the vocal tone). Some proper blues melodic patterns incorporated into your singing will probably give more proper 'blues' feel - that would be recognizable straight away as Blues style. You can also add some harmonica parts too. Overall this makes me think you decided to keep vocal line safe and 'minimal' for this project so far and that sounds fine.
Apart of all this it is a nice song and I like your songwriting work!
I just used some very little reverb (insulated room - for vocals). My cellar studio :) has no reverb at all.
You know that i never try to make anything that fits to any genre, i always try to make things that fit perfect to my own feelings of how something should sound. So it was like you mentioned it, there where no reasons for me to "sing" in perfect blues style with blue notes and stuff. And you are also right with your harmonica, i was thinking about make one but i couldn't find the right "feeling" - maybe you should play something on your nice sounding synth and send me the steem :)
When i done this one i saw myself in a little bar/club with a cigarette in my hand and a whisky/beer in front of me. Burt on a cbg and someone playing bass and drums and i was "telling" the people what happend to me some times ago .... but i can enlarge the pic so that you stand there with us and playing a cool harmonica solo while i have a drink and the audience listen to your solo .... that would be cool :)
Like always, i enjoyed your comment and all the friendly words.
Always a great raw/real experience upon a visit to your place Joe!
I wish i was sitting in an old bar in Berlin watching you guys play this all night.Beer mugs raised to you!Cheers.
That would be cool if Burt get some time and we both could do a/some gig's in an old bar in Berlin. The last stuff we both made would be great to played there.
If we ever do that i would enjoy for sure drinking a or a few beer with you there.
Hi guys. The cbgs and bass sound great. Joe's vocals really change the feel of the song. They sound like they're happening in a different space, creating a trippy dissonance between the two. It's weird, it's different, I like it!
Hi TA
Thanks for your friendly comment. Good to hear that you like the track.
Burts guitar playing on his own handmade cbg's is always cool stuff. So i hadn't do to much with the steems to let them sound good. Also thanks for your words about the vocals, i could really enjoy them.
Very fun song this is! I don't know if you've heard of the group, but this reminds me a bit of Tiger Lilies, minus the crazy vocals. Enjoy their stuff, especially when I'm very inebriated. I could definitely hear this being great with your vocals, but I understand wanting to do instrumentals every now and then. Very fun listen, and good use of the virtual accordian! I just picked up another magnus chord organ recently, and can't wait to play and sample it... they have a sound similar to an accordian but use a keyboard which directs air from a fan through reeds. It's a model 399 from around 1970, and is the best condition one I've ever seen. Fun. Thanks for sharing this song! Fave!
Hey Spiv,
I totaly understand what you mean about using it with my vocals on. I had or better lets say have that in my mind but i am sure that it will change the over all feeling of the track dramaticaly and then it will not fit to the pic anymore. So i put it to the side an thought i do it better later ....
If i had more space at my home i would collect also a lot of older instruments but i haven't :(
Cigar box anonymous only makes it worse ;) http://www.cigarboxnation.com/forum/topics/hi-i-m-insert-name-here-and-i-can-t-stop-building-cbgs?xg_source=activity
I got my violin bridges the other day, still waiting on tuners, kind of at a stand still until those arrive along with the weather sucking lately! (I have to cut and sand outside) I'm going to build a 4 string guitar cello, I guess you call it hahaha It'll be the 4 low strings from a guitar set at an arch like a cello and played with a bow, that should make some nice gloomy music :p After we use up all 9 lives do we get 9 more? That's great people feel better after this doom and gloom! I've got to do some funeral doom with a cbg. I'll send more your way soon, got to keep Beyond the Sky album growing.
I listened to both versions, I think I prefer this version. I can't understand the words, it is more like an instrument. Some sort of Mantra. I really like this, and those swamp slide sounds. Very very cool blues track, well done both of you!
Thanks a lot for your friendly comment TeeGee1965
Nice to hear that you could enjoy our little swamp slide blues like song.
One of eth reasons why i didn't changed the version here on looperman was that i also like this bit more muddy sound. But there are still listener who prefer a version with some little bit cleaner vocals. So now everyone can listen to the version he likes :)
My life suddenly seems great after listening to the march of the doom and gloom brothers. ;) Kinda spooky and dark, your description was good! Sounds like Burt is going to need cigar box anonymous soon.
Thank you Wayne for your time you invest into listening and for your friendly words.
Burt is so creative since he startet to make one cbg after the other :) so don't stop him until we finished our album :)
His cbg's have so a nice kind of sound like he recorded them in a small, abandoned hut, somewhere in the deep swamp. Just a gloomy sound like from another world :)
nice job. you know. i dont think i needed to understand the vocalist because the muddiness on the vocals add to the haunting, yet light feel of the track. nice
Gloomy and melancholic but in almost a afterparty kind of way. Hypnotic and psychedelic in like a quaaluded version of Roxy Music. I had to fav it. I just was compelled to fav.
Cru
Oh, thanks a lot Cru. I bet that Burt will be same happy then me to read this nice and friendly comment.
Good to hear that this little track compelled you to give us the favor of a fav.
And you are right, in a way it IS a afterparty song :)
Nice groove right here. The drums are great asset in this track. The vocal however is too deep to be heard, well unless it was done deliberately.overall not too bad.
I made a different version with much more clear vocals, cause i had the same feeling that they are much to muddy/low and others also said that. So i uploaded a wav file with the better sound to soundcloud. You can find the link in the description.
Thanks a lot for the comment and the time you take yourself to listen to our track.
Oh damn.. That takes me to a place I've forgotten.. Something about the vocals I can't place.. A beautiful composition.. Such good music on the loop at the moment, keep it up guys!
Loving the atmosphere here! Before even reading the description I knew what you were going for, which is a testament to the production! Great use of haunting vocals as well. Loving everything about this track. :)
Thanks Enrico for your gentle words.
Good to know that this little track work.
Burt did a great job with his CBG's and the bass, so it was in a way easy for me to do the synth's and vocals.
Joe, you have done it again. Your unique style blended with some good old rock guitar. It is dark, it is sweet in a lakritze kind of way and it sound great as a whole. Nice work. For sure Burt wont be buthurt about this fun track!
Hello mudhoen
When i listen to this track it isn't easy for me to get this "joe Cramer" thing, but if you think it has this "feeling" then it sure will have it in a way :)
Burt saĆd he likes the mix i did with all his great stuff. So you are righ that he isn't buthurted at all
Brilliant.
Takes me back to eighties moments with New Order and the Hacienda club in Manchester NoRth West of England.
gREAT ATMOSPHERIC STUFF THIS AND TODAY i Think I will get the chance to have a full listen to your reverbnation stuff.
Nice work Joe.
I hope you could enjoy this extreme collection on reverb :)
I know that i should sort it a bit more out but there is really mostly all from the very beginning (1984) to now (2016)
Nice to see that you could enjoy at least this track again.
So thanks again for the listen and the comment
You're getting really good at these arrangements! Love what you've done. You're voice sounds so sinister on some of these. We need our own poster like this ;) https://www.cbgitty.com/gift-ideas/razzy-daddy-spasm-band-historic-themed-12x18-poster/ I want to eventually record one with all different cbgs being used, bass build in the plans too, ordered the tuning keys and have the neck wood set aside. We'll have to get you a soup can homemade mic to keep in the spirit of home built equipment LOL! :D Keep it up Joe! Many more coming your way!
