Big arpeggiated strings, slide resonator guitar, electric guitars, detuned guitar playing massive funky basslines, wicked wah, squelchy synth bass + other synths, acoustic metal and brush drumkits, hip hop drum hits and no loops. I think I've written this piece several times before but never got around to finishing. It shows my "dark side" (I like synthesisers!) Some of the sections may be a bit long but the main idea was to create an infection groove.

It's an early mix and there's still lots to do but would appreciate some thoughts on what I have so far. Should I stick to Pop, Blues and Rock? Anyway, it's an effort on my part to push the envelope a bit and see what comes out. I hope you like it.

I found this backing track on the internet for drummers... I loved the groove of these guitar and bass tracks and thought it would be fun to learn double kick drums too.... I believe a band called King's X in 1994 released a song called Black the Sky on there 3rd album..... as you can see it sure was a drum workout... it was rough at first learning to play double kicks my left foot had a tough time keeping up... anyways I hope you enjoy this heavy rocker from all the boyz in the band..... Description : Second track - after 'Costello' - in my 'The Paris Tapes'-project. Nu Jazz/Chillout. This track features a rap by Kcentric on ccMixter. Kcentrix is an electronic music composer and lyricist who carves out a unique niche by fusing Hip Hop, Jazz, Spoken Word, Breakbeat, and Electronic styles. I incorporated (parts) of his rap 'Dream Of You' in this laid back, short groove, highlighted by Miles Davis-inspired muted trumpet-sounds. This, again, is an attempt to create a 'big city vibe'. It's part of a project wich I hope to finish this year, featuring (jazz)artists from all over the world in unusual musical settings, created by me. PS: the beautiful face in the picture is of former adult performer Sasha Grey. The pic is from the the 2009 movie 'The Girlfriend Experience' by Steven Soderbergh, a film that made a big impression on me. It's a drama set in the days leading up to the 2008 Presidential election, and centered on a high-end Manhattan call girl meeting the challenges of her boyfriend, her clients, and her work. As far as 'big city' is concerned, this is the soundtrack-feel I'm looking for.
