Listen To Wintermute - Down (demo) Industrial Song By Hardwareexorcist At Looperman.com

15th Sep 2010 00:10 - 15 years ago
Description : this song is somewhere between EBM and aggrotech i wrote for an electro industrial project called 'wintermute'. it actually started life as a synthpop song, but over the course of it's production, it got a bit rough around the edges. i took it in a harder direction again after re-discovering the song after having not heard it for around 6 months. it's still not finished, the verse vocals still need to be recorded and there's some additional programming i had in mind. let me know what you think of how it's progressing so far.

I know that a lot of people say to turn up the vocals but i disagree. Some songs sound good with low volume vocals, and personally i love it the way it is. Not really too rough, interesting sounds. An interesting mix of heavy and light sounds, pieces together perfectly though. A few seconds after the 3 minute mark it gets a tad repetitive, i would switch the drums up during that part. overall excellent track. -Gabe

thanks for the review, Gabe. i'm glad i'm not the only one that prefers my vocals a bit more in the mix, heh. but i do think that with some eq trickery, i can add some more clarity to them, giving the illusion of more volume, but without sacrificing my mix. at least in theory=) it's been suggested by RawHead that i ramp up the finale of the song and i'm in agreement, so that 3min mark of repetition won't be in the next revision=) thanks for the listen and your thoughts, i appreciate it.

What a voluminous sound!
I agree with RawHead... the bass synth right from the start is essential, the whole track.
I want to hear the final version...NOW!!

greetz

Ahh..and hey... turn up the volume of the vocals ;).

Nice track man..has a great flow to it,moves along fluidly and consistently without ever seeming restrictive or repeditive.love the bass synth right from the start.nice tight beat and the vox are awesome,I would agree that the vox could be turned up a bit to better define it from the rest of the sounds.maybe some additions to the end of the track, like a build up of synth and vox into a more intense finale and then an abrupt sudden end with the vox echoing out (just something im hearing when im listening to the end).overall production values are very good.sweet track man.looking forward to hearing more.

thanks for the review! i dig the idea of the vocals ending the track and it's something i've been playing around with and it'll probably end up in the final version. and that's a really cool idea about ending with a bigger more intense finale. the final chorus could definitely go for a harder bang after the bridge and that's giving me some ideas to work with. thanks for noticing the mix and production values. this song uses a lot of both hard and soft synths, but because of the nature of the music and individual sounds, it wasn't too difficult to get them into their sonic niches straight away to give a dense layered sound but without sounding muddy or forced.

Yeah this is sick. The vox can def be put up, needs some more spotlight bro.
The vibe is good, and I agree, the panning is fresh.
Needs a bit better breakdown, like a complete crescendo and then just DROP like you did, extend it a bit too maybe? it seemed a bit rushed. 4 more bars would do wonders.
However the second breakdown perfect.
also, perhaps end with the vox saying "Break me DOWN" (Down being the only thing heard in the end
Just suggestions. I really dig this.
Great work

Description : My grandmother was from Belarus. She was the lone survivor of her family after the Waffen SS massacred everyone in her village during a retreat from the Red Army. She escaped soviet occupied Belarus & through a series of wranglings by the international red cross, found a family to adopt her in New Jersey in 1947. She was 14 years old then. She was the strongest person I ever knew & I miss her terribly. This song is for her.

Description : Not really 'industrial' although some aspects might fit with the genre...generally robots and stuff...hehe...and a hint of heavy metal is also there...:)

Description : I used Serum and Sylenth1 to create all the synths and basslines. It's not dubstep, and it's not Drum and Bass, but it's elements are heavily drawn from both to create an experimental industrial track in it's own class. It's heavy, aggressive, and driving. Either you will like it, or you won't. I don't think there will be an in-between. Take care. V.

Description : This song I started about 5-7 yrs ago with the opening guitar. I was recording a home produced LP with a friend and I was hoping to write some lyrics and record it at the time, but it sat on the sidelines for various reasons. The last 2-3 yrs yrs I've been chipping away at it.

Description : Dutch version of VTNights - Dancing with Floyd
Selected the same genre, Industrial.

The beat is the original track minus the vocals. Translated the original lyrics (German --> Dutch) and tried to make the result rhyme. As I couldn't recreate VTNights voice I created a 8 voice choir.

Enjoy.

Description : Some more old industrial recorded in 2015 as a new remaster from today. The original title is "Tanzt du alleine" and tells the story of people dancing next to each other but feeling isolated. They should take their hands to get back connected. I found this great bass loop from Difourks and I took a bit from Steelyvibe here from Looperman to pimp it up a bit. Maybe you heard the guitar riff at the beginning before. Enjoy

Description : Another weird blending of genres I am working on. Track was all composed by myself using some sampling and an old 1983 Memphis Strat of which I am totally rusty on due to a serious left hand/wrist injury several years back.

Description : For those of you who haven't grabbed my new album "Labrynth Of Self" I'm putting up another one from it. This is the only thing on the album that I'd really call industrial, and it comes closest to my goal of creating something that Ohgr might do on one of his albums. It contains some very weird sounds that I don't specifically remember creating. Don't be shy with your critique, it's not the sort of music everyone likes. Thanks for listening friends!
