Listen To Shadow Road Shuffle Psychedelic Song By ValveDriver At Looperman.com

24th Aug 2025 18:37 - 1 month ago
Description : Another one featuring Bicky Stalls and the Snushbakes. This one is a groovy, dark and smokey little number somewhere between psychedelic and cinematic. It's like riding shotgun in the Devil's coupe on a slow midnight cruise to nowhere, half passed out, loaded on whiskey, cigarettes, and bad choices.
Enjoy, and please, let me know what you think. It's definitely not a typical Valvedriver style track, so your input is valuable.
Thanks, and take care.
V.

I think, not having much listening experience under that whole rap/hiphop umbrella, it's hard for me to tell the differences between any of the sub-genres. I can hear some differences, but it all sounds so similar to me I can't really pinpoint what the differences are.
It's much like if I were to say, "here, listen to Sanguisugabogg, they're Slam, Then listen to Larcenia Roe, they're Deathcore. Then, listen to Bloodbath, they're deathmetal. Totally different, man" Meanwhile the average Joe is like, "Dude, they're all exactly the same." But since I've been submerged in Metal since the Cold War, I can tell the differences.

Oh no, definitely not trap. Grime originated in Britain in the 90s as jungle and garage and DnB were also evolving. It's got a hip hop edge to it, but its it's own thing. I recommend Skepta as an entry point

Pnnywze 7th Sep 2025 22:25 - 1 month ago
Believe it or not, certain elements of this made me think of some Grime songs I heard on a Playlist somewhere. Ive tried to find those songs again but it was a lucky chance that I heard em in the 1st place. Trust me, I mean this in the best way possible
ValveDriver
ValveDriver replied 8th Sep 2025 - 1 month ago
I'm not familiar with Grime. I'll have to check it out. I imagine it's along the lines of Trap, though.
Don't you hate it when you find something sweet-ass, but then can't ever find it again. There are a lot of old techno tracks from the 90s that I listened to back then that are just faded, fuzzy watercolor memories now, and that's all they'll ever be. Bummer, eh?
Take care, man.

I meant to ask, whatever became of the song u were working on using my drums? I really liked it
ValveDriver
ValveDriver replied 8th Sep 2025 - 1 month ago
I lost it, and several other projects when my old laptop took the proverbial shit. Then my son was here for a month and a half, so I wasn't even really working on any music at all.

Hi Valve
This track definitely belongs in a dark movie.
But I might be weird, but I think it also works as bedroom music.
It doesn't matter, it's just a great track. That part 2:42 ...wow.
ValveDriver
ValveDriver replied 3rd Sep 2025 - 1 month ago
Hi Rita.
That's not weird at all. It wasn't the intention while it was being made, but since you mention it, I can totally see how you would think so.
Either way, I'm glad you liked it, so thank you!
Take care.

Hello mr Moricone! What an amazing, atmospheric track! I see a cowboy trek through the forest, on his trusty steed, probably on his way to new adventures. Love it!

ValveDriver replied 30th Aug 2025 - 1 month ago
Thanks Bao. I have always loved Mr. Morricone's work. Mr. Badalamenti as well. They have different styles, but somehow share the same energy. As a big fan of both, it's really no surprise that they showed through in this one, and probably will again in future projects!
Thank you again. I appreciate it!
Take care.

Excellent choice of instruments for this kind of music. Great sound and of course a special composition ready to support any Tarantino's movie. I really liked the track Aaron.

Thanks Robin, I appreciate it. Funny thing is, it wasn't intended to sound like a David Lynch soundtrack. I guess influences are going to pop up whether you want it to or not, huh?

of the charts good as always love the cough, that takes thought, its perfect soundtrack material for a number of different styles, theres a mysteriousness about it, but then again there is also a feeling of showing your confidence and walking proud be that alone or with followers by your side it has a dramatic feel a really cinematic vibe Aaron a great western as the underdogs get ready to fight, where's the A team when you need 'em eh. don't worry ValveDrivers here
ValveDriver
ValveDriver replied 26th Aug 2025 - 1 month ago
Thanks, Paul.
If you listen just before the cough you can hear the lighter flicking as he lit his smoke. Also, right around 35 seconds in you can hear him move his chair. It's faint, but it's in there.
Funny how this turned cinematic. I wasn't really going for that, but I guess it is what it is, right? As long as people like it, that's all that matters.
Thanks again for swingin' by and giving it a whirl.
Take care, bud.
Aaron.

Wow, this sounds like something from a David Lynch film. The guitar tone is superb and I love the use of the Theramin here. Great choice of instruments all round. Outstanding track, this is something you should definitely explore, as you've tapped into something here. Well done.
ValveDriver
ValveDriver replied 25th Aug 2025 - 1 month ago
I take the David Lynch thing as a hell of a compliment. It makes sense, too. Not only is he one of my favorite directors, but Angelo Badalementi is one of my favorite score writers.
The theremin in this is actually a patch I made in Massive just for this song. I'm sure, though, that it will make an appearance in more tracks to come.
There is definitely more like this in the works. Some of which I started years ago. This just happens to be the right time to work on them.
Thank you for taking the time to listen and comment. I appreciate it.
Take care.

Upright bass? What vst? Sounds cool whatever it is. This is a super cool track man. Sounds like something Tarantino would have put in one of his films. Or maybe The Ballad of Buster Scruggs. What is the bpm please?

Wow Aaron those guitars - v much a Spaghetti Western Vibe - love the reverb at the end, too. Slightly cinematic - not so sure that I would say this is weird. Beautifully composed.

Hello Kay!
Thank you very much for the kind words. It means a lot. I can definitely see how this has a Spaghetti Western vibe. We're just missing some ocarinas, bells, and a few whistles here and there.
Thank you again.

Description : OK, I finally managed to find a song name, so here it is. But the genre is still open. WTF is it? World? Trip? Trance? Rock? psychedelic? .

I started this song with the wahwah background track, I think I wanted to go in the triphop direction but when I played with it and tried out things I added some Tabla sounds from the available sound library of the cubase software to it, just to get a feel for it. It sounded right somehow, and so it developed from there. As before, we did the work on wikiloops band section: bhunt1 (Brian) on Bass added his track, and rp3drums (Raymond) on drums (one straight drum track, and one para-diddle track). I then added several more guitar tracks.

So I would be happy to listen to your comments and advice, and if I get a good suggestion for name and genre I will change it. Cheers, TG :D

Description : UPDATE 3/31/2016 - Did some work on the mix and master thanks to the advice of Crucethus and promenade2239. I knew something needed work, and it turned out I need some shifting in the time-space continuum. Thanks to everyone who commented so far!

Original DESC - Yes, I admit it... I fall down. Different circumstances and results each time, but it does happen. Got some inspiration in the last week or two, and left behind some other responsibilities for a while to make this track. Did a considerable amount of multisampling of a Realistic C1000 to add to the song. This is the first song I've finished which uses my modified Korg Monotribe. Also contains Microkorg (on glitch percussion and vocoder use), Yamaha ys-200, Zoom RT-123, and my modular synth doing circuit bent voice synth duties. Psychedelic, dark cold wave. EDIT: Now that I think about it, there were no virtual synths involved in this composition, but only virtual samplers and effects. Everything else was MIDI and hardware sound source. Thank you for listening! Please leave a comment and I will return the favor!
