Hello Mark, It's unbelievable what happens in this track. To me it sounds like there are a lot of ace musicians standing on a huge stage, constantly taking turns to a beat that keeps the tension over this incredibly long stretch, and even does new pirouettes again and again. You keep the listener entertained and can always surprise. Nice track where everything sounds great!

Hi Mark, what should I say? There is nothing left for me to say. Amazing sound, great composition. I don't think it could get any better than that.
At the same time I also wanted to compliment you on the very good cooperation with BaoBou.

I'm most pleased you found what you heard to be "Amazing". BaoBou is a complete joy to know and colab with. We're still in process with that track. But you're mentioning the track is heartwarming. You stay safe till the next round.

    Hey Mark,
    It's amazing how you
    can take the same samples
that I use and make them sound
Like real music. That Rhodes sample
    @ 1:38-2:02 sounds like a whole nuther
Rhodes when you used it here compared to
    when I used it.
I love this track. As usual it sounds to
me like a studio recording by the latest Jazz
    Fusion group.
    Great track. Faved(of course)..
    PEACE from the East...

Whats cracking bringer? Thanks for sharing your impressions and fave on what Ive concocted here. This one is a milestone personally in that finally my sax game has been upped. Now I can play those parts on keys the way I like and sound analog and natural. On time signatures Ive got a piece Im working on in 7/8 with some changes to 5/4 and back. But for 4/4 youre correct.. I love to extract everything I can! TTYL.

Love it, but the mix is maybe a tad compressed? It sounds in some places on the edge of distorted in my cheapo headphones - that could be on me or on them of course. Eg around 0:32?
Otherwise it's lovely and near perfect as always!

    kingmt77
    Reply by kingmt77

BaoBou! Thanks much for the stop and feedback. On the subject of headphones, I'm using two different types. One that's closed back with a flat 20 hz to 20k hz for mixing. The second I use for proofing and mastering that has a range of 16hz to 40k hz. I've learned the specs were a great help for me as I mix and master exclusively over headphones. I'm not hearing overcompression, but I'm trying an adjustment to open the sound up a bit. I'm glad what you've heard was good so far. Also, it's good you feel better from being under the weather. Stay safe buddy. Peace.

I love the Chorus-phaser effect on the saxophone. The mix has a gritty in-your-face feel, really emphasizing the drums, and then that slap bass was awesome. Nice overall tune brother.

Steven! Hello my friend. Im glad for the check in and commentary on this track. Ive been playing around with phasing on the individual tracks and the master buss too. The sax I played on keys thru Kontakt 7 and that chorus effect is actually a tape emulation from Waves called Abbey Road Reel ADT. That alone is a game changer for thickafying my saxes. Thanks for the sharing which elements popped. Be safe.

Hello Mark, where have you been all this time? I missed your unique sound here. *Smile
Just the beginning of this song is great! Once again, I really like the division of instruments with the already brilliant mix. It's back again, the feeling like you're in the concert hall and enjoying the band live!
But I have the feeling that a noticeable scratch creeps in from 3:49 onwards. Maybe an incorrectly configured effect?
I know it isn't the final version yet. But like I said, it's already extremely good.
Best regards and have a nice weekend

Manuela Hi:). Its great hearing from you as well. Its big that this one you found fat with with that live ambience we love so much. The noise you picked up on was the equivalent of me throwing a shovel of dirt on the Rhodes to get that gritty and abrasive swag. So ok I wiped a little off but not much. A little dirtyness is good sometimes you know LOL! I treasure your feedback as always. You have great weekend as well.

    Hello Mark,

Oooweee! that old-school flavor is hitting my ears just right! love the drums/cymbals, damn! every thing about this track so far is a plethora of sweet! joy!...at around 2:11, 2:51 that horn type instrument sounds a little distant/in the background but the melody/groove of this jazz/fusion is well put together indeed, such an uplifting and vibrant track, this definitely has the power! to put a spring in my step and swing in my hips. Very flavorful! NICE!! Work & much enjoyed by me dear friend.

Angelus:)! It's always good hearing from you. Thanks for always bringing the sunshine, comradery, and exceptional talent. For example, "Bone China". That listen was a great one for me. Yep, the passion that is inherent between you two is remarkable and translated wonderfully. Keep up the awesome work. I appreciate the feedback you gave for this track. On the distant sax, originally I put him front and center. But then that section became too dense. So I pushed him back and made his room larger than the rest of the band. Maybe on the next round, I'll move him up a few feet. Drums? Cymbals? You know the business, LOL:)! I'm glad you really enjoyed what you heard. Be and stay safe.

Description : This song highlights a few different styles of jazz. First it starts with a kinda early 20s and 30s groove. Than it melds into a New Orleans style. Than into a sort of Maynard Ferguson big band jazz/rock groove, and finishing off with the 20s and 30s style again, all held together with some cool horns and bass. All n all, it's...Pretty Cool! Hope you like

Description : Do not freak out just because this is jazz! There's also blues, rock, funk and a little hip hop in it to break up the deep, chillout jazz sections - gets particularly rocking then funky at the end. Main bassline (the track's foundation) is recycled leftover slide resonator guitar parts detuned one octave to make a slide bass sound. Also features: piano, violin, hammered dulcimer, organ, ethereal pad guitar, bass guitar, jazz/blues/rock electric guitar and multiple programmed acoustic drumkits. This was difficult to make at times as I thought I needed more leads parts eg from sax or trumpet. But I'm happyish with the end result. I expect very little interest in this as it's both jazz and long jazz. But it's also an unusual type of genre-mixing jazz. So, leave your thoughts, good or bad, if you like...

I "made a promise" that my next track will be use a lot of jazzy loops - well, i done with this track, for the great sadness of jazz lovers or experts i think - i fear they will never forgive me. :) While my ISP launches my internet out of the Earth system for a long time, i had to face the fact that i dont have too much downloaded jazz loops on my computer, so i think no wonder that this one is sounds like if i smoke some marihuana while making it. But hey, who cares, i like the result - it reminds me the (maybe only) really funny episode of "Breaking Bad", where Pinkman uses some heroin and flyes up with an idiotic smile on his face - that chapter is priceless. :D

Description : Music by Antonio Carlos Jobim. This particular piano arrangement is from one of jazz sheet piano books I found on scribd. The electric piano is MrRay22 plugin which I played on Casio CDP220 digital piano. This is also a new piece that I learned today so it was quite tricky to get a proper touch at places and overall make the entire thing sound anywhere realistic. I tried many times and this was probably the best take. Also I am relatively new to playing latin piano music. I didn't manipulate any notes after recording - instead I added few virtual vintage amps. I choose jazz but it is a bossa nova latin style. Enjoy and feel free to comment and download.

Description : "Oh no - not jazz metal! You're not supposed to mix those genres together." Yes, but someone's got to and the musical gods have chosen me for the difficult task. 9 mins of instrumental jazz metal - damn I sure know how to write a hit song - US No 1 here I come. Anyway - there's some dark, swinging groovy jazz, with Rhodes and guitar as the main instruments, for a few minutes and then some haunting, thumping evil breaks loose. Look out for the powerful synth horn sound. And then it just gets heavier and heavier before returning to some nice chillgroove funky mystery jazz. Instruments played and/or programmed: electric guitar, bass guitar, electric cello, multiple programmed acoustic drumkits, filtered strings, Rhodes, big synth bass, evil synth horn and a few other assorted synths. I assume this has too much jazz for metallers and too much metal for jazzers. So, only for weirdoes like me who enjoy both. This will surely be too odd for most people but I like to think it's pretty interesting and powerful. Let me know how its weirdness worked for you...
