Hot Rats! Locks in for me around the 2 minute mark. Sensational groove there. Again at 3:37 Chord Changes there Perfect.
Kind of wishing you got back to that heavy groove (the 2 minute warning one) that was the hook for me. Fantastic Mark

Great slappy bass tone throughout. I especially like the parallel octave parts with the various keyboard instruments. At 1:14 you are kinda in an uncanny valley before it goes all looney tunes (it's almost like you are quoting something).

Great guitar tone as well. Horns need a "room to play in" so is sounds less rigidly mixed.

MT, I had to run this twice before commenting. Your ears have gotten sharper. I can foe show hear the difference sonically. I must agree with J, on this track being in the top 3 for best MT productions. This track to me is fine just the way it is. This version sounds like the way it would be played in a live situation, or if I were recording it for a live CD. When I critique other artists tracks, I keep in mind that this music might be played in many venues. Long story short you have radio, streaming, movie and television versions, so when I'm critiquing which version am I working on? Thats why I will only comment on the sound and processing of a track. To me your creation is your spiritual musical expression. Great track player. PEACE. T576 OUT.

Yo T What's up? Thanks for the stop, listen, observations, and your seal of approval with that fave. I've been logging in extra time to get the mix just right. But if you say it's good....... It's Superb. Our creation is our own spiritual musical expression, and I completely agree with you. That's a rich statement, T. Your perspective is appreciated big time. Peace.

    What's up Mark,

    That Drumwork is so crisp.
I remember a couple of tracks
    back someone commented about the
way the Vibraphone sounded like Ruth
Underwood (Zappa), @1:26 was a total Zappa
moment. You moved in and out of about 3or 4
styles while still keeping the overall theme
intact. Your Keyboard work is just so on point
    it's outrageous!
This track definately is in my "Mark" top 5.

Great track. Faved.. PEACE from the East...

Rob. Thank you for the weigh-in, comments and fave. So this one has been a mega blast. The section you mentioned was ripe for a rolling marimba type swag. Yep, mallets on wood for sure. I appreciate the mention of the theme, as you know it's easy to go off the rails. Keyboards? It's so bad now I caught myself with a sandwich in one hand and playing a melody with the other trying to hash out an idea while having lunch, LOL! Anyway, we'll continue our chop session later. Peace.

Hello, it sounds very good so far. Very funky and groovy. I like it very much. The drum run is really reminiscent of a solo. To my taste, however, it bites itself from time to time too much with the bass line. I think in some places it's overkill. But that's just my personal feeling. Otherwise very good solos as always. The quality is good, but I think you're still in the early stages. There will definitely be more *smile. Greetings Manuela

hey Mr funky jazz, nice work as always Mark, great drum intro they are fire, love all the combos with the snare tom kick and hat as it progresses, nice crashes, the bass is red hot, the sax entry at 1.45 is a harsh entrance for me, its ok but needs a smoother entry you could swap it with that guitar at 2.40 lovely tone, and the sax at almost a minute long just seemed to much but that s just my personal taste, the instrumentation is always spot on, but as you work on this im sure you will improve it and its also good to have things to think about right :))

Paul! Thank you for weighing in, your time, and input. When I got the notification about your comment I was listening to that sax you mentioned. You have gotten even sharper with how you hear. Excellent my friend. With the next update its gonna be sweet in that section. Definitely the guitar is permanent right where it is. Stay tuned and stay safe. Peace.

Great bass motive and what lovely keys you play, some great chords there, and just when I started thinking you should return to the main motive, you did it at 2:00, and same again around 4:00.
I do think that you can make the second and third repeat shorter, or maybe the first and second time, and then go crazy the final time; and I was not a huge fan of the fade out on the drums. But then again, if I say "not a fan" to something on your tracks, it's still 8/10 obviously.
Fantastic stuff as always Mark, hope this helps you in some way!

Description : This song highlights a few different styles of jazz. First it starts with a kinda early 20s and 30s groove. Than it melds into a New Orleans style. Than into a sort of Maynard Ferguson big band jazz/rock groove, and finishing off with the 20s and 30s style again, all held together with some cool horns and bass. All n all, it's...Pretty Cool! Hope you like

Description : Do not freak out just because this is jazz! There's also blues, rock, funk and a little hip hop in it to break up the deep, chillout jazz sections - gets particularly rocking then funky at the end. Main bassline (the track's foundation) is recycled leftover slide resonator guitar parts detuned one octave to make a slide bass sound. Also features: piano, violin, hammered dulcimer, organ, ethereal pad guitar, bass guitar, jazz/blues/rock electric guitar and multiple programmed acoustic drumkits. This was difficult to make at times as I thought I needed more leads parts eg from sax or trumpet. But I'm happyish with the end result. I expect very little interest in this as it's both jazz and long jazz. But it's also an unusual type of genre-mixing jazz. So, leave your thoughts, good or bad, if you like...

Description : This track contains only free loops from Stayonbeat.com and several loops from Looperman artists (listed below). I "made a promise" that my next track will be use a lot of jazzy loops - well, i done with this track, for the great sadness of jazz lovers or experts i think - i fear they will never forgive me. :) While my ISP launches my internet out of the Earth system for a long time, i had to face the fact that i dont have too much downloaded jazz loops on my computer, so i think no wonder that this one is sounds like if i smoke some marihuana while making it. But hey, who cares, i like the result - it reminds me the (maybe only) really funny episode of "Breaking Bad", where Pinkman uses some heroin and flyes up with an idiotic smile on his face - that chapter is priceless. :D
I dont think this one needs a vocal, but ofcourse you can use it if you want, and as always, just write and i will give any support as i can. Any feedback welcomed too as always. Enjoy! UPDATE 2015.10.24.: improved audio quality - lower lows, higher highs. Now in 256kbps!

Description : Music by Antonio Carlos Jobim. This particular piano arrangement is from one of jazz sheet piano books I found on scribd. The electric piano is MrRay22 plugin which I played on Casio CDP220 digital piano. This is also a new piece that I learned today so it was quite tricky to get a proper touch at places and overall make the entire thing sound anywhere realistic. I tried many times and this was probably the best take. Also I am relatively new to playing latin piano music. I didn't manipulate any notes after recording - instead I added few virtual vintage amps. I choose jazz but it is a bossa nova latin style. Enjoy and feel free to comment and download.

Description : "Oh no - not jazz metal! You're not supposed to mix those genres together." Yes, but someone's got to and the musical gods have chosen me for the difficult task. 9 mins of instrumental jazz metal - damn I sure know how to write a hit song - US No 1 here I come. Anyway - there's some dark, swinging groovy jazz, with Rhodes and guitar as the main instruments, for a few minutes and then some haunting, thumping evil breaks loose. Look out for the powerful synth horn sound. And then it just gets heavier and heavier before returning to some nice chillgroove funky mystery jazz. Instruments played and/or programmed: electric guitar, bass guitar, electric cello, multiple programmed acoustic drumkits, filtered strings, Rhodes, big synth bass, evil synth horn and a few other assorted synths. I assume this has too much jazz for metallers and too much metal for jazzers. So, only for weirdoes like me who enjoy both. This will surely be too odd for most people but I like to think it's pretty interesting and powerful. Let me know how its weirdness worked for you...
