Description : I took up slide fretless 3 string guitar because I could listen to and play like this for hours! short clip on The Lone Rider fretless 3 string, recorded on my webcam. Brass/titanium/wood burl slide by Mojoboneworks, wood pick. In the homemade instrument community there's been cries for videos of us playing our instruments, you'll have to go to FB to see it or tune into the Gitty Gang Show :) completely raw live recording with no fx on the amp.

I worked in the deep south in Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana... during the hot dog days of summer splicing fiber optic cable in the swamps and bayous, city and backwater towns and this just brings me back to those days of working on the railroad tracks sweating my ass off and always hearing this playing, no matter where I went, ha!

I am feeling the heat as i listen. Nice man!

Hey Wayne :D I remember that story on my first swamp tune a few years ago. Never been that far south but the wife's got the woodstove going making it feel hot enough!! It's when you hear banjos you have to worry LOL!!! I mentioned Gitty Gang Show in the description, that's very much like the old show Hee Haw except it's all homemade instruments and indie artists similar to here on looperman, just more country/folk/roots music oriented. I had been just sittin and pickin most of the day taking it easy and thought hey I'll make another video, they like the others :D Well, they really liked this one. How did you deal with the mosquitoes, a flame thrower? Good to see alot of you guys still hanging here. if you haven't put it together, used to use phatkatz4 or Rob Serling ;) ;)

Thanks Tsochai Neo really touched on the history, roots of the instrument. Not only the southern U.S. but in the apalachian hiils region as well, homemade instruments are a big thing. People make them out of anything and everything. Many of the great bluemen got their start on home made guitars. The young boys would take their mother's corn broom, pull the wire off holding the head on and use that as a string on the broom handle making a 1 string Didley bow. Their mother would whip them for it but only once so they felt it was worth it :D

Hey Burt, I really dig this man ! There's just something about a Mississippi Delta blues slide guitar that gives me chills every time I hear it. It all goes back to the history and roots of this style of music which was born out of the southern regions of the U.S. in the 1920s. Infamous for the extremely harsh living conditions of the poverty stricken black communities of the time period. The raw quality of the cigar box really exudes the wonderful yet agonizing sound that is synonymous with the style. Good stuff bro !!!

Great comment Neo! The cigar box guitar was born as a poor mans guitar. People were so poor and in some cases weren't allowed to own instruments so to make life suck a bit less they began making their own out of whatever they could find. Cigar boxes were abundant and made of great tone woods. I dont recall the entire story but someone involved in recording at the time was waiting for a bus or train and came across a gentleman playing a guitar by sliding his knife blade across the strings. I got the chills still do hearing these primitive instruments. Check out songs inside the box by max shores all about the current renasainance of the instrument. Earliest known picture of a cigar box fiddle was civil war era. I've been mb aking a number of these live recordings, people loving it, and I'm hoping to get others inspired to do the same. It's not about perfection.

I play unconventional guitar :D Do you play slide guitar? I took it up a few years ago when I became hopelessly addicted to cigar box guitars and other homemade instruments. Immediately fell in love with the sound, and how expressive such a simple instrument could be. The audio was ripped from a web cam video I made on Saturday and got alot of love. Just chillin and playing around. I noticed each track you checked out was played on different guitars. That's why so addicting, each has such a unique voice. I've been meaning to make more slide loops, that's the beauty of this place, the diveristy. Thanks Chokehold, more to come. If you want some jamming blues check Friday night jam, played on the same guitar.

Description : The guy who ordered this track didn't pay and doesn't respond to my messages.
So I deleted a private link and decided to upload this track here. The quest was to catch the old-school vibe of detectives of the 50s-60s in the track\loop for 30-40 seconds.
Any way job was done. It is recorded fully live on real instruments, about 3 hours of composing and recording.

XO.

Description : Short piece, Lo-Fi chillout, hey guys this is different from me, this was inspired by Jynxz after listening to his track city-ish life. this is my interpretation. i think the title explains it all. i tried to capture the atmosphere of a hot steamy early morning in any major city. ive added tonal fx to create the background ambience, there's an electric storm brewing, i stewed for a day whether to use ad-libs but thought vocals would take away from what i was trying to achieve, that feeling.
