Description : Sometimes i forget that i'm not a pro-musician, not involved in some market logic. Sometimes i forget that my job is foundry worker. But i never forget that i got a soul,i am human. As human, i need to bring out my feelings, and that is easier for me when I make music. Something in lyrics and Baby's performance touched me deeply. Just turn your lighter on, wave it and enjoy.

Man that big fat bass is very reminiscent of M83 and a few other alt bands I've heard.. It creates such an emotion by itself.. Great mix.. You managed to get the vox up on top and sitting just beautifully in it.. it's like a big blanket wrapped in warm mellow.

This is one of the most original compliment i get so far! ahahha

About reminiscence, try to listen to "Follow me" or "Just one night and maybe goodbye" by Eiffel 65, maybe the match more with this :)

I like M83 style, i literally "eat" the double album "Hurry Up, We're Dreaming"

    Hi man.
You did a great job of mixing your music with the vocals to elevate the song. It has a sweet, magical appeal to it. The earnest emotions in the vocals stop it from becoming too sickly sweet. It's still genuine. Awesome work. Thanks for sharing.

    hello Henry,

    Reply by HenryPascal

The description cames after a question i ask myself
"Could Answers be appreciated as like as Makin Me Blue was?"

Then i thought... "Keep your feet on the ground, man, who do you think you are, the David Guetta of the poor?"

After other reflections, I came to that description

Heck of a track! Has a pop sensibility to it.

The vocals are a bit over processed i think, maybe too much effects? One other thing i might try is to lower the compression or limiter on the master channel a tiny bit. This will make the instruments stand out a little more in the mix by cutting a bit of the overall loudness of each of the instruments in the track and with some adjustments, make the vocals stand out a little more too.

The track is put together very well, the vocal track works so well with the musical composition. Keep up the good work!

    Reply by HenryPascal

Hey Wayne! Good to have your comment here!

Vocals: removed some annoying noises throughtout, furtherly noise reduction filtered, then, after trying lots of unsatisfying compression ratios, manually compressed. Last, add a reverb. I keep the general volume quite low, to keep the delicate performance of BabyGee, play it louder didn't seem consistent with the depth of the lyrics in my ears.

Instrumentals: i was inspired by "Viaggia insieme a me" by Eiffel 65 ("Follow me" english version) released in 2003. Has the same pop feeling but the drums and the bass are a bit pumped up (because they came from dance music).

I mix/mast using the I.Pod earphones, that has a masterful quality sound... clearly the final mix sounds very good, in relation of a 2009 netbook power. Maybe using a different pc and different earphones it sounds different too... who can tell? :D

Hi, Nicolo! You did a really good job on this track. I read your comment about all the work you did on the vocal. That sounds very familiar to me. Getting vocals cleaned up and sitting right in the mix can take a lot of work. Your arrangement/instrumentation was really nice. I think it fit the vocals very well. Chord progressions were very good.

I guess you've now properly translated nglaichan's comment. "Terrific" originally meant "frightening", but the meaning changed over time to mean "excellent". He was telling you that it was a really good track! And, I agree. :)

    Reply by HenryPascal

Thank you so much, Eric! When i translated i find several meanings, one the opposite of the other... that's because i ask for a synonim :D ahah

    Hi Henry!

This is very, very cool...I felt that I'm on an Eurovision contest at around 1985...could be the winner song from the Italian side...:-)
never thought that someone could make stg like this with Baby's acapella...but i might not have thought that Baby can sing 80's of pops for years ...:-)
all in all, enjoyable productions at all levels and nothing wrong with that intro of course ...

    handshake, Danke

I love the instrumental; you really did justice to the vocals!

During certain parts (e.g. 1:44-1:57), the vocal feels like it's sitting on the mix rather than in it. Compressing the vocals (with care) to catch those times where Baby Gee sings louder should do the trick. If you want to be more meticulous, you could also automate the volume to make the vocals louder/quieter as needed (more control than using a compressor).

I'd also lower the decay time of the reverb you've got for the reverb (as well as the amount of it... maybe... LOL). Feels out of place to me compared to your instrumental.

Keep up the awesome work, as always! =D

    Reply by HenryPascal

Hey Arhum! Believe it or not, i did every single thing you advice! More, i try to use several compressing ratio, but no one satisfied me. So i manually compressed it! I clean the original vocal from annoying noisey sounds, then selected thousands of frames for manual compression. E.g. in "Sometimes", the "So" was to weak, in the mix it disappears, so BG seems to sing "...mtimes". If you don't believe me, i can send you the vocal as i worked on and you can match with the original :D
I know, maybe you fought with the reverb and you're angry with him ahaha.... i'm joking... so, seriously, as always i cut the amount of "wet output" compared to the preset i choose, when i listen to the mix it seems ok, 'cause usually is "covered" by instrumental.

But you argue always about ahahahha

I'm glad you like the instrumentation, regardless job on vocals, the instrumentals are "properly mine", they are the mirror of my feelings.

My main satisfaction is when the things i put in a song (feelings, instrumentation, details) are appreciated by who listen to, it means that i was able to convey a bit of my soul.

    Thank you my friend!
