Description : It's been so long (too long) since a collaboration with the outstanding talent that is Farisha Haque. You can find more of Farisha's amazing work here.
So a bit of a departure here in that it's a real bass guitar (apologies to Dave Marshall in advance!) My trusty Ovation Celebrity provides the acoustic which is spread across the stereo image, EZ drums and EZkeys (I should be on commission) and some other patches from Logic. The solo is on the acoustic setting of my Godin XTSA.
Hope you enjoy and comments always welcome

damn, this stuff is great! i'm not into this genre (also this is the first time in commenting on something) but this is a great piece of art. this should be everywhere!! spam this on radios or i don't know but SPAM THIS!! this HAVE TO be sended everywhere, this is so good!!!!!!!!!
I have to apologise sincerely for not responding to your posting. It's been crazy relocating to UK and things have got lost. Thank for stopping by and checking out this track. Much appreciated.
Yep, this is it for me, perfection in every sense of the word. The piano arrangement, the chord selection, the subtle acoustic guitar, and that amazing voice from Farisha. This is simply outstanding. This should be bought by one of the major labels. Thank you for sharing your awe inspiring talents with us mere mortals guys. Top top track!
Great as ever. Very nice work here. I love the changes in this song. I may need some help from you on one of my songs. Maybe add a little guitar here and there.
Very well done, I have nothing new to add that hasn't already been said, Great track, Regardless of music taste everyone can appreciate this Masterpiece!!
Apologies for the late reply to your comments. Firstly thank you for taking the time to stop by and listen. Glad you enjoyed the track and I am knocked out with your kind words. Thank you.
Amazing work! Top quality vocals, and I think that the autotune is used very tastefully! Great harmonies! Wonderful mixing! Congrats to you for making this happen!
Thank you very much for the comments and so pleased you liked the track. Yes, top quality vocals and tasteful use of autotune - that just about sums it up very nicely. Thank you.
GUYS, I'm sorry I have to disagree with most of you regarding the use of Autotune here...
I usually HATE this plugin BUT... I really think this time it gives an extra feel to Farisha's wonderful vocals...
This hard'n'fast vibrato just sounds perfect and appropriate ( it's a matter of personal taste though )... Here for example : I think she sings "I'm tired of excuses" (2:46) ! Of course it smells autotune 10 miles around... But be honest, doesn't it sound F&(!ING GREAT this way ????
Every looperpeople here who has been here for quite some time won't need any proof of Farisha's amazing vocal abilities... I know she could have recorded this without autotune, by spending some more time... BUT it would have sounded different... And the more I listen to this song, the less I want it to sound different :)
No apology required on the double posting - it's good to have a debate and hear your thoughts on the whole autotune issue.
A long time ago I watched a video on music production. It featured amongst other things the Fairlight CMI of the late seventies and an interview with Martin Rushent who at the time was the "flavour of the month" producer (Human League, Stanglers, Buzzcocks, Fleetwood Mac). He was asked if technology and it's development in music production was having an adverse effect on musicianship, sound quality and "product". His answer was interesting. He drew and analogy between music and a skilled woodworker and suggested a cabinet made by a carpenter would not have more integrity if the nails were punched in by a fist!! The point being the technology in this case (a hammer) actually doesn't detract from the finished product.
All i can conclude after listening to this track is that, it is the best track i've ever heard on looperman. And ofcourse Farisha Haque has huge Talent and limited time to give into. I had her acepallas and i afraid to use them cuz i feel am still not that talented to compose a music of her level.
Well i am from India and my family doesnt like me to step into this world but i have huge interest and am passionate towards this field of melody. I really dont have any proper instruments but still i manage/try to compose something unique and professional. Sir, if you allow me then i would like to take some lessons from you.
WHOAA, so many sweet comments!! What a great response!
And as for autotune, believe me I get it. I heard it a thousand times, and I will continue to hear it. I will try and explain myself.
When it comes to producing, I mix record everything myself. I have no one to be there, to help me, or anything. I also have an extremely limited time to record. Think like maybe one day out of a whole month. Im a full time student, and I have noisy neighbors that complain about my singing.
That said, when I record, I do it as efficiently as I possibly can. So that one day that I get, I record at least one whole song, or a few hooks. Now, my vocals are not just one line of music usually. They are usually at least 7 part harmonies. Now, when professional music is recorded, not only do they use autotune, but they have actual sound engineers and mixers to make it sound as crisp as possible. Doesnt matter how good you are, you need the autotune to match the PERFECT tuning of the instrumentals.
Since I have so many harmonies, I use autotune to keep the harmonies more crisp for better blend. A lot of the time, I record to very full music tracks, so when the vocals are put with the music, it doesnt sound too autotune-y. But the vocals by itself, sounds very autotuned.
Now I agree, I do use it alot, but it's the best I can produce for now. And I mean, Im not getting paid to do this. I do it because it's my way of collaborating without actually having to be there. I can proudly say I've been featured on so many awesome musician's tracks from all around the world.
So hopefully, anyone reading this understands me a little better :)
Man Richie...every one I listen to I thing..this must be your best one yet,...and then you keep topping yourself...I can only echo the many compliments you have received..this is just a superb bit of musical artistry...you do indeed set a standard that many of us would wist to strive towards...all the best on your move mate.....Ed
Always good to hear from you. Thanks for the support on this and your comments are so rewarding. Whenever I put a new track together it is always a voyage of discovery and I'm never too sure where it will lead me. I've said it before - my function is to get the very best platform I can for the vocal and trying to keep on top of my game a challenge I will never tire of.
Dismantling the studio today, packers in next Monday, fly to UK Sept 28th. It's been a great two years. Looking forward to another adventure in England!
Holy Cow Rich...that was frikkin' awesome man ! From the instrumentation, to the dynamics and all the subtle attention to detail and huge ears for mastering the room. Loved the guitar work. Farisha goes withut saying she's just fantastic here. Emotional. I always say...when you have the feeling on a track where if you close your eyes and you feel yourself floating....you got it. Without sound too much like Yoda...." Nailed it you did, Master !"
For the comments Bill I thank you so much. Herh herh herh. OK enough Yoda! I do so much appreciate your comments - I have much respect for your work. Thanks for the guitar work comments too - it's a real compliment coming from you. Yes, Farisha is an awesome talent and it's a great performance on this track. Glad you liked the track.
Thanks so much for the comments - really appreciate you taking the time to stop by and have a listen. If I can be of any help to you in the future then please let me know. Good luck with everything.
Thank you so much for stopping by and posting a comment. Much appreciated. So pleasing to have such positive feedback particularly on the guitars (a bit of a passion of mine) and the piano. Thank you.
All I can say is : Wow !!!! a fantastic interpretation and arrangement of an equally great vocal. I've tried my hand on the same song and boy I have stuff to learn :)
So pleased you like my interpretation and arrangement of the vocal. It's such a real advantage starting with a vocal of this calibre sung by the huge talent that is Farisha. I hope I have done it all justice.
Yup, it's all about learning and you never stop. Keep it going and good luck.
Absolutely gorgeous!
Although I do agree that Farisha REALLY doesnt need autocrap distorting that gorgeous voice!
That said, fantastic track, your instrumental is great; clean, open & does a superb job of presenting the vocals.
Literally gave me goosebumps!
I appreciate you stopping by, listening and posting comments. Thank you very much. So much written already about autotune and I agree - Farisha has a gorgeous voice.
I am particularly pleased with the "instrumental is great; clean, open" as it sort of sums up what I'm all about in many ways. A friend recently commented that "there was a lot going on but it sounds sparse". Well, if it gave you goosebumps then job done is all I can say!!
There are a few people on here who set an extremely high example for the rest of us, and you are at the top of that list.
This one is flawless, from start to finish. I am continually amazed at your versatility, prowess, and talent as a songwriter, composer, musician and engineer. Farisha is a huge talent as well. When you put the two of you together it is an absolute force of nature.
I think it might be time to retire that pella, cause nobody is going to come close to this one :) Thanks for the download as well. Beautiful work, Richie, absolutely beautiful.
Always good to hear from you and thank you so much for the comments. I guess every time I am in the studio putting a track together I feel a massive responsibility to the vocal tracks (in this case the huge talent that is Farisha) and attempt to put the best I possibly can together to support it. Yes, this bar I seem to keep setting is my own and the challenge to keep it as high as I can one I enjoy immensely.
I am knocked out with your comments here - thank you. Hope all is well with you.
Thank you very much for the kind words - much appreciated. Farisha is such a huge talent it is a great privilege and pleasure collaborating with her. Thanks again for stopping by.
Richie... Farisha... You both have blessed my day... again...
Richie my friend, you're my favourite songwriter here...
You just raise the bar so high.. Tried hard to find something wrong in this song... But as usual... Nothing to say except... This is freakin' great :)
Farisha, you are amazing in this song... Seems you were born to sing this one... You particularly fit so well...
Wish there was a "follow artist" button to click on...
Thank both of you for this great moment in such a dark day for me... ;)
So very pleased to have blessed your day with this track! I am indeed humbled at your comments and appreciate them very much. It is very rewarding to know how much impact my music has on my fellow Looperpeople.
I think Farisha has a really nice voice. But to be honest I an getting tired when great vocalist i hear hide behind autotune, or maybe I am getting tired of ever vocalist over using autotune.
I take your point about the autotune and to a degree I agree (and that rhymes too!) I guess I am of the same opinion as Dave (PlanetJazzBass see comments below) in that in this case it doesn't detract at all from what is being sung or from the timbre, intonation and delivery. I am just very proud to be a part of putting a track together that includes such great lyrics and a high quality vocal sound. Farisha is such a talent.
I guess it's all about relationships and collaborations so maybe I can coax Farisha to record a vocal track unaided next time. Watch this space!!
I would distroy all my Tracks just to produce one track like this!.
This is just so friggin beautiful gave me goosebumps!.
It's one of them songs that as you hear it,it makes you go
Wow as ya jaw drops as you melt in to a pile of deep thoughts and euphoria at such heartfelt bliss!.
This is pure top class, the sounds are so crisp, the piano is to die for, then you get the angelic haunting vocals that take my breath away....Farisha wow what an angel.
Richie this is pure bliss of the highest order!.
I can only site here feeling all emotional at this stunning production.
This is pure gold man!
the hairs on my arms wont go down.
Full respect to you for producing this and full respect to Farisha........WOW
So good of you to stop by. Thank you so much for the kind words and support - much appreciated. I never really know where a song journey will take me when starting with an acapella but I am particularly pleased with the results here. So glad you liked it.
Whoa man!..primo material here....This is such a great sound and a classic example of how to use autotune properly(one amongst many other aspects I might add!)...just enough to encase it in a contemporary veneer without overly saturating or distorting the voice as is so often found in today's productions, nice one Farisha!...mind you,it helps when the vocals are already top quality though!lol...I love the guitar solo, those piezo's on your Godin give such a parallel universe type vibe with the vocal timbre it's uncanny....Every new tune I hear from you has the mark of a perfectionist...every facet is being focused on down to the smallest increment which amazingly seems to resemble something like a Mandelbrot set! ....before I forget, great bass playing!spot on in fact!...I hope all the people that have used Farisha's acapella take an opportunity to experience this track and understand what can be done once a little respect and effort is applied......Way way good
Having played live for so many years (and still doing so) I find the opportunity in the studio to get it as right as it can be a bit of a holy grail. Perfectionist would be a nice way to describe it (bloody fussy and picky another!) Whatever, I'm simply knocked out with comments that refer to my productions in this way. Thank you.
So good of you to stop by, listen and post comments. Your words are very kind and so very complimentary. Thank you very much - it's appreciated. I'm glad you enjoyed the track.
After this long absence, you come back with this song, of awesome quality as usual .... All the elements which gathered here are very professional.
The pulzz is built and assembled by a master hand .... Everything fits together perfectly.
Thank you for sharing this good time .... I'm glad to know you, sincerely .... Respect.
Thank you so much for the comments. It is always a great pleasure to hear from you and to read your heartfelt and kind works. Thank you.
Farisha is a fantastic talent and I am so fortunate to work with high calibre vocals. It is always a voyage of discovery writing and I'm so pleased you like the results.
This is so lovely in ALL the ways a song can be lovely! Vocals, harmony, lyrics, Farisha, muzic, atmosphere of muzsic, construction of muzic, build of muzic, REAL guitar (hehe)!! This is just great...well, I think that's all that needs to be said.
Awesome collab here, kudos, round of applause, download, great work!
Description : Sounds of the sea and trippy acidy washes with a cool beat and some live acoustic guitar. Written in Cubase with live guitar and keys etc. The sound of the sea and birds was recorded on the beach where I used to live. After moving to the city one sunny day I was telling stories to a friend about living by the sea and started making this track.
Description : This improv recorded a few years ago powered my interest even further than I expected.....recorded using tc electronics pedal and tascam studio recorder and a Fender Squier tele electric....
Description : I used some new "Anthem" pickups from L.R. Baggs on my Martin acoustic to see how it performed, and it definitely beat my expectations. Captured the sound perfectly as I needed.
Anyhoo, this song is almost a prayer, hence the repetitiveness of the verses. As Christians, we believe that God will one day return and take away every suffering and all evil for good; in that regard, this song is almost one of waiting too. Very simple, with vocal harmonies and whatnot. Hope you enjoy this as much as I did making it. Made in 13 hours.
Someone else wrote the words, I was just inspired to use them. I only added the "Yeah" and "Amen."
Description : This is a track off of one of my EP's I dropped last year. It is based on True events. Sometimes when people finally take a second in life to slow down and breathe in..... The oxygen is deflated and it's too late. Take your time people, because time is what differs a good decision over a bad one. Life is precious!

Description : So a guy buys a nice guitar at a pawn shop but returns it a few days later after waking from a sound sleep to hear it playing by itself. When he tells of his experience he is shocked to learn the owner had actually died while playing it. Is it fantasy or truth? Is the guitar in this track that very same guitar? Its all part of the mystery and fun of Halloween !
EDIT: modified ending to a deeper voice
Description : This track describes a magical state that I experienced a long time ago. Maybe you also know the feeling that you can't describe something like this with words ... luckily we have the music for it!
Description : So this is my first Chill Outish track. I was just trying something new and then suddenly this was a thing. Everything you hear is home made. I hope you enjoy. - Mr. Spook'd
Description : That's something i worked out lately
a swing 3/4 hip hop Chill ?? Don't know how to describe this kind of music.

Description : A progressive journey incorporating deep ambient chillout, swing jazz, hip hop, d'n'b, trance and a slight touch of acid with a thousand ninjas battling in space. Features a great deal of my lead slide resonator guitar playing. Also a whole load of synths, programmed acoustic drum kits and manipulated drum loops, big basslines, regular electric guitar, vocoded guitar parts and bass guitar (distorted right at the end). If you like deep chill, far out soaring beauty, fat beats and 170 BPM uplifting slide trance controlled mayhem, you might just get into this. In my heaven there is an endless supply of honey mangoes (an exquisite beauty of the fruit world) and even more slide guitar. A 1,000-year-long version of this track plays there on a loop (long enough not to get bored of it) but here I offer you the Earthly 11 min version. You must be very good to be accepted into my heaven to hear the full thousand year version so best start now. It may be heaven's main theme tune but it's not above criticism so feel free to let me know what you think of it. Maybe you prefer the soundtrack in hell. I hear it's pretty badass...
