very cool track this kind of music never dies its as fresh as the day it was laid down i enjoyed my listen thanks for sharing this track very cool man. :)
LOLOLOOOL....you had me rolling on the floor. Didn't know I could sing. LOL. Yes, Bonez, I can sing!!!! And, no it has not been released , yet. It's been sitting on the shelf. patiently waiting... :) But, seriously, when it is released, I'll post here that it has.
Very funky and soulful. That's awesome you have songs and comments going back almost 15 years... amazing. This one was already good and then you made a lot of progress too... but you can definitely still be proud of this one!
Echoes of Stevie Wonder here. You have a strong, soulful voice and that instumentation is, (for me), jazz-soul fusion. One question though, in the lyrics is says 'Seep Tight' - did you mean seep or did you mean sleep? This is great for a soul playlist and should be on Spotify for sure. Kay
Hiya Kay! Thanks for pointing out my typo!! LOLOL. I'm great a proofreading, but not my own writings. I think it's like hairdressers; many are extremely skillful with their clients, but not so much on their own heads. LOL. I'm flattered by the comparison. Happy you enjoyed the track, and now on to correct the lyric sheet!
First all in my ole school days some of the best tunes started in the basement! The piano intro hooks you right in - and when the Horns drop in I'm looking for my sweety to get my dance steps on! The vocals are TOP SELF and so smooth. Luv the Hook!!
Hey Al Jarreau ya listening a 3 play- GREAT JOB!!
Filaofsoul
WOOOOOO!..You Killed it Man.
Crispy,Clean,Chilled out Groove,Flowin down the river of Funkiness.
Great job on the vocals.very nice production.the piano is killer and then the horns come in and take it to the next level.
This is great! What a vibe. I hear the Al J thing, but I think that might be more from the timbre of your voice. My ears are tellin me this is what you would have if Donny Hathaway came back long enough to sit-in with Soulive!! Sweet! Seriously, you're phrasing is very DH and the groove is totally early SOulive. Really looking forward to the finished tune.
Hey Tony! Thanks so much for checking out my track. I am speechless. Al J keeps coming up in comments, and now Donny Hathaway! I don't hear it, but I totally accept it! I am embarrassed because I'm not familiar with Soulive, but will definitely Google. AL J, and Donny H on the other hand I am familiar with. I've not listened to much of Donny's material really, but I am a big fan of AL's.
The old school is still alive! I love the old school but kinda of jazzy feel to it. Vocals are real smooth. The track and the overall production of this track is superb!!
Yeah man, this is totally smooth! This is definitely a head above most looperman artists! The vocals sound really nice! Good to hear this old school flavour!
Thanks J1K! I'm holding off making this one for download until the final product is finished. However, we might be able to work something out....hahaha.
You have such a big soul and jazz influence coming through this tune, it's unbelievable. The first thing my mind went to was John Legend. Extremelly surprised and in a really good way.
This could be huge with an apropiate mix. It has vibe's from the 80's to the present. I can see some modifications being done to the vocals in the ''I've been around the world'' area. A bit of pitch adjustments and some modulation and it's brilliant.
This is going into my all time favs! Very good effort!
Thank you, Mahloo! I very much appreciate your kind words. Being compared to John Legend is pretty awesome.
Actually the mixing will be redone and any other issues will be fixed. Vocals will always have to be redone because what you hear I did with my laptop, lexicon mixer, and a shure mic (not exactly pro equipment). Very fortunate for me I will be working with a grammy-winning recording engineer. Anything I post here is by no means a finished product and will always be turned over to a professional
As promised, checking out another one of your works, volume on this one is great, so thinking other has an error somewhere?? totally agree with Nuada, excellent vocals, very much a Jazz type sound about this one, love this piece mate, nice horn section, nice flowing beat, this piece sounds very professional, this is a piece I would pay money to buy...excellent mate...massive...Peace...elsd...
Thank you ELSD! I'm thrilled you dig it so. The other track is my...ummmmmm...handy work, and like I said before I'm not an engineer. This mix was done by Thez...he obviously has a talent for the technical. I try to get folks to concentrate on other components when they comment rather than focus on sound, mixing and such because if I am doing it, there are bound to be issues.
I'm sort of using Looperman as a source for material as well as a place to get feedback as far as what tracks are received well, and what ones are not. The tracks that are received well (some) will be reworked professionally in terms of mixing, arrangement tweaking, and ultimately mastering for distribution (my sophomore CD).
Thanks again for your words of appreciation and encouragement!
MR. L. all i can say on this one is HOT HOT HOT.This is some of the best unfinished product iv'e heard in a long time. protect the pipes at all cost. PEACE. THE MACK MAN OUT.
I know you have this in hip hop, but damn man, this is as close to RnB as you can get.....you remind me a bit of Al Green - if he was a baritone. Great vocal chops.
The recording issues are all things that can be rectified with a good sound engineer and great equipment. Loved the backing track on this one as well.
I would love to hear a duet with you and MusicIzMee4Ever. That would be epic.
Thanks for the comments. We have been working on this since the posting, and it's come a long way; just a few minor tweaks remain. And...ummmmm...I'm not a baritone...lol...perhaps when I am a LOT older.
yes man, another liqwit font of inspiration(:.
very nice instru, i'd love to hear more variations but it's a personal point of view. as for the mic, yes, you need to put what i call 'spit-guard' in front of it, so the S & P will seriosly diminish their intensity. in extreme cases -when you have a micro without condeser or a cheap one- i suggest a de-esser: a compressor that cuts all shh and prr in a rough way. the voice is fantastic as usual, you've got a great gift brother. hugs from here, hope to send some music soon enough
Peace
Hey Badword! Thanks for the comments and support. I actually re-recorded the vocals using a pop filter, and the vocals came out cleaner. We are still working on the tune.
Hey, Thanks Derrick!!! Really appreciate the comments. The Loop itself came from TheZerit with whom I'm working on it. Not sure about the horns. What you are hearing is nothing like what the end product will be. It's only a scratch...a starting point.
I think you should send them vox over TheZerit side, because I feel a kinda .. rush on the beat.
As far as quality, I love the sound.. very crisp.. I would sub the pop-filter for a pencil over the condenser mic imo.. I mean.. it depends.
When you got those "sssssSSSsss" or "ppphpppphhppp"
basically the S's or P's you say?
You know?
You can block them by guarding the coil recording you by positioning your breathe before the mic.
Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated. Yeah that is in no way representative of a final project. Thanks much for the tip about guarding the coil!! I am tech-challenged when it comes to recording software or setting up mic's. All of the vocal tracks were sent to Zerit, so that he can work his magic.
awesome!! you need to send me the vox with no effects on it...You have a very good singing voice! the reverb takes away from your voice...send me the vox..........send me the singing, seperate from the dubs....this is gonna turn out pretty sweet....we are not finished...this is gonna be a banger...
~7h3z~
I think you have a very nice voice, music is brilliant, I know you said this isn't fully mixed yet but I am wondering if you are going to put a slight effect on your voice because it sounds a little too raw at the moment (the backing vocals are beautiful)
I look forward to the final result, I know it's gonna be great!
Thanks so much for the review. Yeah, it's only a scratch...and it will for sure get polished. It's more of a "map" at this point to get a feel for where it will go.
Peace & Nameste
