Description : Draft 2 of a Work in progress. A collaboration between Salook and me that we've been working on for several weeks now. Salook created the original stem for this, and the current draft is probably the 6th or 7th evolution/mutation of the piece.

Another from The Musick to have a Rebellion To project.

Recorded live using the Akai APC40 Midi controller.

The FDR quotes are all from his 1941 State of the Union address, and were selected because it's surprising to hear in the current historical context 70 years later, and because of what he was actually calling for. The State of the Union speech has been edited, but meaning has remained intact. In other words, I have not changed the language in unethical ways.

Note: Under the terms of Title 17, Chapter 1, Section 5 of US Code, FDR's vocal samples are public domain.

Loops from planetjazzbass and ShortBusMusic. Thanks gents!

Comments, critiques, suggestions welcome.

2nd Draft: reworked flute and added further agitated mob ambiance.

Hey Sean, mate you had me hooked on this one right from the start, liking the whole piece, parts seem to have a middle eastern flavour, which has a very nice feel, nice beat, like the vocals that you have used, and the story they are telling, sounds like this one would have taken a bit of work to get everything to work as well has it has done, very enjoyable listen my friend...fav'd...Peace matey...Estefano...

Don't worry. I'll be making music while laying on my deathbed.

Glad this one's working for you!

Yes, I have to agree with John, if this is dub, then sign me up. I also agree with you with the use of tags instead of genres. This is outstanding, but all of your work is, so that is no surprise. Absolutely a perfect job to this point. I'm not sure what else you can do to it, but you never disappoint.

You really have a way of constructing great percussion. Freaking genius!!!!!!!!

Off to favorites with this one.

I got the critique/review I've been waiting for via email, so the next version will really undertake some major revisions. Going to try redoing both the beginning and end of this, and change the break a bit, too. I think it'll be equally groovy, but a bit more "powerful" by the time we're both satisfied with it. Thanks for the encouragement, as well as for the brilliant loops that made much of this possible. But using your loops and Planetjazzbass loops, how could we possibly go wrong? Thanks for the fave. Feeling really good about that thumbs up!

Hey Sean...as soon as I hit play I knew I'd be engulfed..and I don't mean by something like Steve Macqueen's close encounter with the Blob! lol...man this is organic music,it just spreads out and flows inexorably onward....throbmatic,a heartbeat groove..ah yes Dub!...it's interesting how past historical quotes are seamlessly inserted into the present,is it all just dogma or are we on a revolving political treadmill doomed to perpetually repeat the past..who knows, but there's one thing I do know...if FDR was listening to music like this or rather if he was a devotee of it....his character would have been different (but probably not his politics! hehe)...unreal groove, you can get hypnotised by this stuff,be careful!...cheers Dave :)

FDR most certainly made some real political mistakes in his career. The Japanese Internment camps was a bad call. Personally I think his cutting a deal with Prescott Bush and the Wall Street boys was even worse of a mistake, but such is life and political people. It's so weird hearing these ideals 70 years later, isn't it? I did a protest musical series a decade ago, and must say it's a lot more pleasant playing with FDR samples than it was with Dubya - lol. Thanks so much for providing a main part of the percussion for this one - you're a fantastic site resource Dave.

You really push boundries with your music Sean, and Salook, well he's another one, haha!! You guys together make a new age tag team that can't be beat. I see you call it world beat dub, I can't really make any distinction as to what it is or isn't, other than it's a very cool track to listen to!

Look forward to hearing what happens next with this track. Pretty cool so far!

Yeah, collabing with Salook is a real treat for me. That guy's more talented than he realizes, and his contributions to this one have really made it what it is. We're in the process of doing a radical revision to this one now, and hopefully we'll pull it off. Prepare for definite advancing of dubbiness behind this one. Glad you enjoyed the listen, Wayne! Thanks for giving it a review!

If this is dub, then I am now officially a fan of dub music. Love the cinematic atmosphere about the piece as well and that flute was perfect.

Progressive World Beat Dub to be sure! Won't it be great when we can use tags instead of simple genre slots? So pleased you enjoyed this one. Thank you!

Description : Here is my most recent song, and one which I considered keeping under wraps until my album was released. With the Halloween thread, I thought this may be a chance to raise up the "funny ha ha" or "funny strange" vibe, and tuck under the nervous laughter. It was not made for this holiday or the related thread, but simply to express something which I think about regularly. I'm sure you'll get the impression!

Any masking, distortion or cross modulation is entirely intentional. This is, after all, intentional electronic brain manipulation.

All three were made by the excellent MrRobot! I ended up using this track as an opportunity to try out the Parallel Killer Guitar that I finished putting together not long ago. These are amongst the first recordings of the guitar. So I guess this turned out like what I would call "hard dub" or maybe it's just dub-glitch... totally not dubstep...heh. I was going for a tape recorded feel on this one for the most part. Hope you enjoy it!

Description : Here is the long overdue "culmination" of a collaboration between Promenade2239 and myself. Not too long ago he uploaded an inspiring finished version based on this song idea, and it is located here... https://www.looperman.com/tracks/detail/171320

Included here is Promenade on synthesizers and samples, as well as quite a bit of rhythmic, vocal and arrangement manipulation. The vocals and guitars (classical and electric) were recorded by me, and I did some synthesis and the initial drum loops.

We spent a lot of time and effort developing the idea together. This became especially apparent when I gathered all of the stems I wished to incorporate into this version, and they totalled 85! All in all, it was an extremely valuable experience for me, and I learned so many things (even about myself).

Please leave your comments if you have any, and I will try to reply as I get caught up! Thank you for listening!
