Description : When the nightclubs close the dayclubs open and this deep house beat is the sound you'll hear. Thick 909 kick and snare layered with ghost hits in the sampler. Made with RD-9 and SP-606 synced together with swing on the 606 ghost hits. Dance the day away!

Description : I tried out a couple of new plugins on this kick: Body Builder transient shaper and Hamburger saturation. I also clipped the crap out of the 909 kick as I recorded it into the PC through my analogue mixer. The overall result is pure techno.

Description : This loop was fun to make. Lo-fi recording then chopped up into bits in the SP-606 sampler and layered with a 909 kick for extra punch. Could work well as a bridge in a hip-hop track.

Description : This is a kick I made with my RD-9 drum machine for the track I have just started working on. I'm particularly happy with how tight and punchy this one is. No in-the-box FX - just a bit of EQ and compression through the mixer into the PC.

Description : Always experimenting with ways to get more out of the RD-9 drum machine. This time I fed the raw audio from the hardware into an FX chain in Reason and sidechained it. The result is a thick rumble but retaining really pronounced transients. Pretty cool and quite different to Ableton.

Description : I learned this rumble technique from Captain Pikant on YouTube. Basically all you do is send the tom toms through a filter and reverb and you have a deep rumble - it really shakes the speakers. I simply sent the outputs of the RD-9 drum machine through two different chains; this kick is compressed and the tom is through huge reverb and filtered very low.
