Some pretty lush effects going on here, man.

Playing on them skinny stings quite a bit. High tinkling is pretty nice (shrill when I do it).

You need a female soul singer. That's it, you've got the rest.

Thanks Evan, I do love my Guitar Effects. :) I am just always looking for a tone that stands out a bit. The Guitar effects I use on this is the same as all my other Psychedelic flavored tracks. I would be happy with A Singer, a female soul singer would be awesome. Thanks for leaving some feedback and for taking the time to give it a listen.

Oh hell yes!!

Soft bed of tones you've created. Great guitar sound and seems rather polished. Lead guitar tone is heartbreakingly forlorn and plaintive. Love it.

Vocals are great. The delay's mix knob sounds cranked. A bit distracting. Some Ts and Ss sound a bit harsh when echoed. The feedback amount sounds good, I'd just like to hear the delayed signal to be a bit more "distant" or "corroded" compared to the initial dry vocal.

Overall, fuggin loved it. Everything I've heard from you has been spectacular. You are a new favorite of mine. It all tastes great!

Great tones and building moments.

Big fan of the palm muted guitar lines. Good tick tock sound going there.

Lets loose at 4:10 and sounds great. A few odd notes but they work.

I enjoyed it!

I have a complaint! I'm never able to complain about anything in your tracks, and it kinda pisses me off!

Solid riffage, tasty modulation though deep, triplets are nice touches.

Every solo part makes me quite jealous. Tones are great.

See! Nothing to pick at or anything. Loved it!

Lol...well that's a complaint I can handle. :)
I really appreciate the positive words my friend. Always nice to hear you did something right. Now if I could only learn how to sing a write vocal melodies.
Thanks for taking the time to give it a listen and for leaving some feedback.

on You Speak To My Soul by Badhuman
The bass guitar is a very special treat on this.

String holding at 1:09 is a bit tiresome after about 10 seconds, then holds for another 40.

I don't mind the high end hiss, noticed but not minded. Mostly just that held note that could have been an underlying second melody.

Thanks for listening and commenting. Yeah it is a bit tiresome after about 10 seconds. Not gonna win an Emmy with it for sure. I was channeling a 1976 Univox String Machine and once you get that sound going it's hard to stop. If I felt it was worth it I'd go back in and tighten the mix up. It is what it is. Thanks for listening.

on Forbidden Love by DESTERO
Very nice acoustic in the beginning. Drums come in a little soft, but the guitar makes up for it.

Vocals are a rarity here, good ones even more so. Your vocals are exceptional. A joy to push play!

1:10 drums pop back out and sound nice with the toms.

Guitar solo tone is of the sweet crunchy over-driven variety. I get awful guitar tone so I am envious.

The "Whoo"s are a pleasant touch.

Strings are nice and floaty in the 3:00 area. Some awesome acoustic work in there as well!!!!

I truly enjoyed this one. Only thing was the drum's volume at the very beginning. That's it. All I can muster. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

on Monster by rightking
Only issues I heard were some clipping/static sounds coming from the lead guitar solo, the low volume of the main guitar, and it sounds like something is clipping in the keys at the beginning.

Really just some clipping here and there. I really like the song. Nice mixture of different feels. I wasn't expecting Rap-Rock. Works very well!

Thank you for listening and for your comment. I am an old "Rap-rock" kind of guy, lol. But I do have some songs in other styles I will be posting. Most are in m4a.mp3 so I am having trouble posting them. But when I figure it out I look forward to more great feedback. Thanks again

on Presently Peasantry by DeadStringer
I dig the intro. Very nice guitar tone and chugging going on here.

1:14 is nice, like the orchestral!

PIANO AT 1:36!!!!!! I love when piano is worked into heavier stuff!

My only complaint would be the kick drum sound. Everything else in the track sounds recorded live,... except that.

All and all, this is some killer stuff you have here.

Outro is friggin great as well!

Haha thanks very much...really wasn't sure about this track - it was essentially an experiment on how good a tone I could get out of a £50 guitar and and old Boss GT-6, so your comment has made me a happy chappy! :)

I absolutely agree with you about the kick!!! I have a tendency to almost ignore the bass and drums after a while (typical guitarist!)...definitely a habit I need to break!

Cheers for checking it out and the feedback!

(keep your eyes peeled; I've got something darker, but equally brutal brewing...just have to remember the kick!)

I like this a lot. I'm into the kinda dark melodic stuff. Good tones throughout. The tom fills seems a bit too programed compared to the rest of the drums. That's my only advice. Overall loved the feel and the tones again were spot on.

If I created a god for myself to believe in, he would speak like you. Very deep and cryptic, but slipping in some very modern speech, like "LOL", that throws me for a loop.

I enjoyed this track. I love to give constructive criticism but can find no faults in your track. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

This is a pleasant find!

Parts remind me of Hurt, and I'm a fan. Nice mixing of the two early guitar lines. Vocals have the vibrato much like 36 Crazyfists, also a fan.

No complaints, just very happy to have found this searching for new rock tracks to listen to on here. Friggin sweet!

Holy shit! I'm going to hell just for listening.

Super heavy, don't guess you invest much into "less is more". Here, more is more, and me likey!

There may be some kind of bass guitar eqing that can be done at parts to minimize some mud. Intro was a bit sludgy.

This is a pretty sweet track, and MetalEd's stuff works well.

Evan

DESTERO replied 11th Jun 2014 - 11 years ago
Thanks Evan,
"less is more" is relative, it is sometimes useful and sometimes not, maybe it is to much at start up (sludgy)

on Postcards From The Son by threedaychainmovie
I really like the concept you have here. A bit of a Star Wars meets Major Tom.

Two small issues I think could make this track a bit better. The vocals are a bit pitchy, but far from bad, and the hi-hat doing steady eighth notes. I feel it should be quarter notes at some points. Using more than one hi-hat sound would also help break it up some.

I'm relatively new to drum programming, but I think this could help some. There are others on here that can give you MUCH better constructive feedback. Set your track to "Featured", comment on another's track, and your track will get much more notice.

Take care.

Hey thanks for the advise. I'm not entirely new to the process but I do get a bit lazy when it comes to drums. I'll change it up and you can have another go at it :)

As for pitchy vocals.... I'm partial to the weirdness that comes out when I'm singing. I wouldn't know what to do if I sounded more professional :)

You got some nice dissonance in the beginning.

Pretty solid eighth note plucking in the verse parts.

3:06 is a nice change-up. Can hear a vocalist doing some great stuff from there on.

Overall a solid track and is ready for vocals. Awesome job!

Thanks man! Yea i should change the Genre to something else, because even i think it doesnt sound like rap/hip hop or anything like that, its its own genre i guess. Much appreciate the feedback, ive never been able to get my songs heard til i seen this post for the song competition, i was like o shit! i would love to oneday make a living off something in the music/producing field, as of now i have very limited, and cheap ass stuff. a $2.50 microphone ordered on ebay, it looks like a mic a chinese guy would be screaming into from a command center when godzillas attacking lool, little black skinny bendable neck with black ball on end, surprisingly, its NOT BAD, when you do some vocal cleanup with editing, i just made that Ghetto Cowboy track i uploaded yesterday with it, but lol, ii hope to get a Better mic like i had before here soon and a new pro tools mbox, my last ones were stolen as well as a laptop while i was at work one day. Dont see or run into many Evans, and im glad i met one thats a musician, thats badass lol, keep in touch bro, ill be listening to yo work and looking for your newest as well.
Peace out,

I hear Clutch in a lot of your stuff. Always solid guitar and basses with your tracks. You need a singer to help break up the repetition in places but I'm sure you know this.

Guilty as charged... :) I am a huge Clutch fan. Been for years now. Them and Queens of the Stone Age have been my two biggest influences. Last couple months I have gotten heavy into WolfMother/Andrew Stockdale and Rival Sons. Rival Sons especially. What a great band. Thanks for taking the time to listen and leave a comment. It is appreciated big time. I agree with the vocals. I hear lots of good vocals in my head but have been unable to execute them in a real world environment. :D
