I'm amazed over the wave form - is it a submarine? =D
You know how to mix and master your tracks apparently, it also shows on the wave form.
A cool tune, mostly because of all the effects.

Very effective! Sometimes (a lot of times?) it's better to not to over do things.
This seems to me just be waiting for an Amazing vocal and you could make some huge success with it.

Faved for sure!

Hey, this is a good one!
I'm not sure if I ever heard the original track but in your version it's really making me want to get up and move, so good job.
A very nice drum line.

Thank you!

The only thing that I used from the original is the singing nothing else.

Yes!
I hear the changes - sounds better.
The drums really do come through punchier now and the reverb works, and the little vocal in the end - LOVE it!

on Miss You - Reworked by steve010101
Very good chilled parts and the intro is amazing, I love that autotuned (?) vocal sample there right in the beginning - you could bring it back later on also, it's really beautiful that way.

The uptempo parts could have more movement and some more punch in the drumline and more...reverb (I tend to missuse and overuse reverb because I love the sound of it but here you almost have a little too dry sounds mixed together I think).
The flute sample definitely needs more reverb and maybe a hint of delay?
These are just a few suggestions I thought of while listening, but I'm an amatour with a bit of unusual musical taste so don't take this too seriously... =)
There will be better guidelines coming from the others here.

But a GREAT start!
DnB is one of my old favourite genres so I'll be keeping an eye on this to hear how it developes.

Cheers!

steve010101 replied 26th Jun 2014 - 11 years ago
Yeah, I totally agree with the uptempo part -- it sounded a bit weak and 'muddy', if that's the right word. I changed up the the pad to be a bit more aggressive and clean (I think it sound a lot more powerful now).

I side-chained the drum pattern, so it comes out a lot clearer and louder now. As for the reverb, I also tend to overdo it, so I decided to do less this time -- bad mistake! I put more reverb on the vocals and flute and you were absolutely right, it does sound a lot better.

I also put the intro vocals at the end, since you liked them so much.

Again, thanks for the good suggestions/advice -- sometimes I get too close to a track and can't hear it properly any more -- so another set of ears is of great importance.

Thanks again.

Kind regards,

Steve

on That Feeling ft KnowKontrol and Mia by MightyMemphis
Aaaaaaand...we may have a winner!!!

Or that's what I think after listening to this - could it get any better?
How do you create that smoothness? The drums and everything sounds so smooth, I want that skill to great smoothness. Is it some kind of a mastering device you use after FL?

Very well crafted loops and vocals, everything melts in to one in a fantastic way and the melody is really pleasant and catchy, yet chilled.
Very nice bassline also.

Cheers/ SJ =)

SJ -

Well....the smoothness comes from this community. I just use the fruity to iron it all out. :) Believe it or not, this is the only place my music comes from. I put it together and then share to everyone here. Mix, rinse, share, repeat. Thanks for listening & enjoying.

on Lost-by sHai Dawn - Cognac Remix by CognacXE
I don't like that vocal (she sings adorably but this one is not to my taste), I don't like this acoustic sounding rock genre that much and yet I ADORE this track!!!!
So what planet are you from any way with this kind of musical talent?
This is gourgeous music.

So are you actually playing all those instruments (it sounds like live instruments)?
Every aspect in this song are great.
The mixing and dynamics, the vocal arrangement, the instrumental arrangement and the way you interweave the instrumental with the vox.
Incredible even.

Really digging the ending with the guitar and the psychedelic synth coming in. And the drums!!
Excellent job.

Cheers/ SJ =)

CognacXE replied 24th Jun 2014 - 11 years ago
First off, thank you for your encouraging words. Secondly, I'm from a small planet called Earth..lol. I'd have to give credit for my sounds to my software. The drum kit I used is just one of many great kits found in Logic Pro X and I processed my guitars with Native Instruments Guitar Rig5. So to answer your ?, nothing was live, just midi with hours of sorting through effects. Also..the vocals were initially a challenge because in their original form they are about 90 bpm's, I had to cut them and move them around until I found a seemingly right fit. I'm really glad you enjoyed it & really appreciate your attention to detail!

Thank you SJ,

Cognac

on Little Things feat ThaSuspect by Leverett
A great instrumental!!
Not so found of the synth in the beginning but then it really grows with the keys and the sax - I LOVE the sax!

The vocal is also cool in there, well arranged in the mix and accompanied by you. There is some little off-key moments but they add to the oldschool vibe (or what ever it is).
Very nice work, also considering you only worked with it for only a few hours.

Cheers!

I very much enjoyed listening to this piece of great music, it has a bit of everything in it, great dynamics and movement, chilled parts and the beautiful sounds of nature...
A fascinating piece!

Can't say much about the techinacal part though, I'm a novice myself. But cool panning. The drums drowning in the first part really didn't bother me. Great use of the vocal. Loved the piano coming through the rain!
Thanks for the DL.

Hey, I liked this a lot!
So much good music on the Loop today.

The vox could use a hint of reverb or delay maybe, to get some more space in to it. But it's an awesome vox anyhow - who is the vocalist?

Take care!

Hey SJoking

Thank you for the review of this track, glad you enjoyed the smoothness of the piece, guessing because my fav genre to do is Trance, makes it easier, as in trance you need smoothness and drive to work together, DnB not one of my fav genre's to do, been doing some other genre's of late rather then trance...Thank you for the fav too much appreciated...Peace n Respect...Mosaic...Will head your way later today when have a little more time...Thanks...

Not much to say other than that...a drop or two would be nice for the dynamics, some pads and risers...
It would be cool to hear the final result.

Thanks soo much.I want to take this track into progressive/trance and i'm working on it.Updated the track with a buildup. Will add some synths during the buildup and then after the drop will add some Hardwell or AVB type raw synth with modified melody of the chords. And then I will think of some beat variations and all.
How's the buildup..??And is the song structure i mentioned right..?? DO comment.
Thanks for the feedback.

Oh I LOVE this!!
Awesome beat and a really good melody, effective yet quite simple. This would work perfectly on the dancefloor.

All it could need would be some cool uplifting vocals - should be easy to find when the istrumental is this good. Other than that - a perfect dance track!

Thanks for the download /SJ =)

Thanks Seriously! The dance feel was what I was going for when making this one. I love the thought of making people want to dance and happy that's the feeling you got from this.

I couldn't agree with you more that this needs vocals. Hopefully I can find a talented person to participate. Thanks for the kind words and for stopping by! Have a good one!
