That bass almost blew me into another universe, I think I have the super woofer setting on...yikes.

Love the laid back vibe of this. Got no where to go, nope, just gonna sit here and do...nothing...LOVE IT! Everything is well done, hats off to this dynamic duo!

Ohhhhhhh, wait, this reminds me of Prince, yep, all Shai Dawn needed to do is that high voice thing he does lol.

ShortBusMusic 24th Jun 2014 15:29 - 12 years ago

No critique here, just a massive amount of respect for a job well done. The fact you were able to use a vocal track in a different tempo makes this one all the more impressive.

I wouldn't change a thing. I think indie/trip hop works just fine for the genre and I would love to hear more like this one.

Really well done Cognac, really, really great effort. Props to you and the great vocalist. I hope all is well.

Superb. Only comment from me is in mixing, in some parts the cymbals and snare bottom sound a little too front and center and dominate a little too much for my taste. The instrumental and the vocal really compliment each other well. Strong rhythmic arrangements.

I appreciate your honest feedback! Thanks for the complements. As far as the mix goes I'm pretty much still learning as I go & this type of feedback allows me to go back an pay attention to the specific areas that you mention. I appreciate you for that as well!

Best Regards,

Cognac

I don't like that vocal (she sings adorably but this one is not to my taste), I don't like this acoustic sounding rock genre that much and yet I ADORE this track!!!!
So what planet are you from any way with this kind of musical talent?
This is gourgeous music.

So are you actually playing all those instruments (it sounds like live instruments)?
Every aspect in this song are great.
The mixing and dynamics, the vocal arrangement, the instrumental arrangement and the way you interweave the instrumental with the vox.
Incredible even.

Really digging the ending with the guitar and the psychedelic synth coming in. And the drums!!
Excellent job.

Cheers/ SJ =)

First off, thank you for your encouraging words. Secondly, I'm from a small planet called Earth..lol. I'd have to give credit for my sounds to my software. The drum kit I used is just one of many great kits found in Logic Pro X and I processed my guitars with Native Instruments Guitar Rig5. So to answer your ?, nothing was live, just midi with hours of sorting through effects. Also..the vocals were initially a challenge because in their original form they are about 90 bpm's, I had to cut them and move them around until I found a seemingly right fit. I'm really glad you enjoyed it & really appreciate your attention to detail!

Thank you SJ,

Cognac

Great Track! I really like the feeling of this track and the vocals fits perfectly with the beat. This track tells a story and the beat just makes me feel so good. This track has soul, rhythm, and is a great story teller. All things I look for in a great song like this! Thanks for the listen, great work!

CognacXE replied 24th Jun 2014 - 12 years ago

Thanks a lot for the feedback Modnex!! The finished sound of the song actually caught me off guard as well. The track was done before I actually found the vocals..I guess I got lucky..lol.

Thank you

This is some quality stuff right here! I really like these melodic creative vocals! The guitar parts are played well and processed with style. Can't say I've heard many songs with this kind of style, and I hope to hear more! I'm not one to go out of my way to listen to pop music, but I'm glad I did this time! (Your mention of indie and trip hop convinced me) Mixing is spot on, and the master is mild like a pop song should be. Well done!

CognacXE replied 21st Jun 2014 - 12 years ago

Thank you my friend. I really can appreciate you paying close attention to the processing that I put into the vocals & guitars. I also agree that when I put everything together there was a certain chemistry between the track & her voice. I generally let folks decide what genre it is. I'm also generally weary of the "Pop" label as well but it fits in somewhat. Thanks for the complements on my mixing as well. It's communities like this that actually help me grow my craft. Thanks again Spivkurl!!

glare of sunlight squint hint of the mint scent bent from the pinch of reality meant to seek or see me splash dream awakes we together bring in things only seen in dreams must be we intertwined rhyme to me if we are we indeed proceed like weeds flow from breath of breeze window open leads eyes to see streets lined with pleads of rings of passion and sings to us a modern day theme of how to fly without wings sounds so surreal yet broken shards beams light into a cascade place me where we should be beyond dreams of you and me as we are true indeed we....one.........totally awesome sound art here truly ...much peace be upon thee....chill!!!!!!!!!!

Description : I'm gonna file this under Drum and Bass due to the beats I used. Though it's probably not DnB in the strictest sense of the word, as it starts off with a Cinematic vibe till the beats kick in (apologies for that, as I don't have a vast knowledge of DnB!). Apart from the beats and a couple of other loops, all synth/bass parts are played by me using ThornCM, Poly Max and Z3ta+ vst's. Let me know what you think? All feedback is always appreciated. Thanks.
